This vet saved our dog's life! I came home from work to find our friend's dog that we were dogsitting in a fit. She was drooling and delirious. She kept rocking back and forth and moaning. I panicked and got in the car and called my wife and told her to find me a vet nearby. My wife found Blacktown West Veterinary Clinic and so I went. Within minutes of diagnosing the pup, they were asking me if I had a certain plant in my backyard, of which I did. They were able to determine the pup had eaten the seed pods of a 'Yesterday, today, tomorrow' flowering bush. They induced vomiting and sure enough we found 12 pods in her vomit. The dog was dying when she was brought in. They were able to stabilize her and recommend a vet hospital as the pup would need overnight care. We took the pup to the vet hospital and they monitored her over night. They had to resuscitate her a few times! The hospital told me Blacktown West was 100% right in their diagnoses and pretty much saved the pup's life! Thank you Blacktown West! We will take our dog's to you from now on. :) Read Less

Love these guys, they care for our furkids and foster furkids. We live some distance from Blacktown but bypass local vets to go to this one. Can't speak highly enough of Alan and the other vets. They care for the animals first and foremost. Read Less

Alan is an amazing vet and has always treated me and my two dogs with the utmost respect and care. He is extremely knowledgeable and he even tries to save you money where he can. He is always gentle and tries to calm down the dogs before any procedures, you can tell he really cares about animals. Dismissive and unhelpful staff. They gave me no instructions on aftercare, (my dog was desexed and had his dew claws removed) and didn't even tell me what the medication they were giving me did, or how to administer it. My friends and online forums were more helpful than this clinic in that respect. I assumed that they were treating me this way because I had adopted a dog from the pound, so I wasn't *really* paying them. Although I did pay $99 for a dew claw removal, so I expected at least some decent service. There were also no other customers at the time, so I don't understand why they were trying to kick me out. My dog was at the clinic for several hours and I don't think they fed him (understandable) but they didn't provide him with any water either? He spent what felt like half an hour drinking water once we got home, including an attempt to drink some soapy water we had out. Over a week later, I went back to have my dog's stitches removed. A very swift process, the vet barely said anything to me. When we got home I realized that he had missed a stitch? I'm sorry but how does that happen? Thankfully the thread was just left in, and I ended up pulling it out which probably wasn't very safe. He didn't leave the knot in at least, but this is still inexcusable in my opinion. On the positive side, my dog was diagnosed with hip dysplasia, and the vet gave me some general tips to help minimize stress on his joints. Additionally, whenever I called the vet with my questions, the receptionist at the time was very helpful and was happy to answer any concerns I had. Read Less

My dog has been needing a round of Pentosan for his arthritis and the first visit was the first time I've taken him to the vet by myself - the vet was wonderful and answered all the questions I had. Visit number 2 was quick in and out. Visit number 3 the vet again helped me out with some concerns and questions and clipped his nails and the hair away from his behind... My 16 year old best friend "Sally the cat" became very ill and after a throughout examination it was determined that it was best to let her go to ease her from pain. The vet, sorry don't know her name was very companionate and patient, helping me cope with the situation and cared for my cat. I am very appreciative and grateful that I chose this vet to tend to my dear friend, I would fully recommend this clinic and this wonderful vet to care for your best friend. cheers MichaelRead Less
