One of my rescue dogs, Martie (a BIG boy) unfortunately requires sedation when being groomed. Its better for the Groomers as Mart is NOT patient and at least sedated, the groomers can give Mart a complete clip and get everything done that he wouldn't normally stand for if not knocked out. I had just returned to Sydney from interstate and o/s after many years and was apprehensive about finding a vet that I could trust Martie's sedation and Grooming needs to. As he also is a old dog now, I needed to ensure the vet was the best there is as sedating older dogs is risky. So I asked around and found that I kept getting the same answer. Blakehurst Vet was what I kept hearing and boy, am I grateful to everyone who referred me to them. They were soo kind. I explained to the girl on the phone that Mart urgently needed grooming but was told that due to the volcanic ash that was grounding aircraft in Bali, the vet's were currently stuck!. She explained that there was a chance the vet's may get back the following day and if they did, although they were chock-a-block, they would do all they could to fit Mart in. Well, throughout the day, I got calls updating me on the chances of the vet's return which I was so grateful for. Fortunately the vet's did return, Mart was booked in and although these poor guys who had spent heaven's only knows how long at Denpasar Airport waiting for a flight and then travelling straight into work, they greeted us with huge smiles and not one hint of being bothered at having an extra dog to deal with at such short notice. Martie was checked by the vet, sedated, groomed beautifully, reverse sedated and ready to go home looking like a million dollars faster than ever before. I cannot express to these guys how grateful I am to each and every one of them for going out of their way for us on a day I bet they all wished they were in bed rather than having to add into their already hectic day, a groom to a big lump of a dog. They are NOT money driven either. They truly care for the animal and in my opinion that what makes a vet a awesome one. Some I have encountered are sadly in it for the money. Ordering unnecessary tests, overcharging for various things etc etc. Others however such as all the staff at Blakehurst Vet are the opposite. They truly care for the welfare of the animal and their prices are extremely reasonable. I cannot recommend this Vet Clinic highly enough. God Bless You All for choosing to pursue a career taking care of our beloved family members. You are all worth your weight in gold.Read Less
