Best clinic I have never been. I travelled one hour to do the spay operation on my female dog. Totally worth it, Anthony is the best vet with patient and also follow up service is awesome. I was contacted several times after the surgery and also after stitch were removed as they care about my dog and knowing I am living far away from the clinic. Dr Anthony Chu is the best vet I have ever encountered - more importantly, the family dog Scout, loves Dr Chu! Whilst Scout is a good natured dog who doesn't bite, with previous vets, she was always nervous, fidgety and nippy, making check-ups and treatments more difficult and wrought with anxiety. With Anthony, Scout is calm and very compliant, and this I believe is to do with Anthony's genuine empathy for animals, and his energy and ability to connect with the animal beyond just the physical. She trusts him implicitly and has let Anthony perform all sorts of procedures such as acupuncture, chiropractic, basic teeth cleaning, taking blood samples, moving her limbs through a whole range of motions, and scalpel work right under her eye to remove an embedded rose thorn, all without barely a flinch!! Most recently, she had to have a general anaesthetic to undergo a more thorough teeth clean. Fantastic job, thank you Anthony!!! Whilst the clinic in Carlingford is not local to us, it is worth the travel as Scout's health and wellbeing is paramount and she has only ever received high quality treatment under Dr Chu's care. The other reason we like Anthony is that he will use if appropriate, alternate approaches to treat a problem with the use of Acupuncture & Chinese herbal medicine (whilst he keeps abreast of modern Western veterinary medicine) so the animal is still receiving high quality care but without, or with way less toxins and chemicals found in modern drugs and medicines that can burden the internal organs and have a long term detrimental affect to the animal's health. He also has excellent contacts for other vets who specialise in certain surgical procedures, so is a well-rounded, well-informed and well-loved vet for so many reasons! The vet nurses at ActiVet are also excellent professionals with a genuine care for animals and are always happy to see Scout and have the same calm, soothing approach when handling her. Whilst Scout is 10 she is still a sprightly, very healthy dog. In part this is her good genes, but we owe a big part of her fabulous health to Anthony who has been her choice of vet for more than fives years now. I should have done this ages ago, when we lost Mani dog. To any mates in the Hills, the pet acupuncture from this vet is what kept Mani pain free and going till the end. Could not recommend them more! So very grateful to them always. Read Less
