At Dapto Veterinary Clinic we provide a consultation service on weekdays from 8.30am until 5.30pm and on Saturday mornings from 8.30am until 12.30pm. Afterhours we also offer a consultation service for emergencies.
During our consultations our veterinarians perform a full physical examination of your pet and provide advice on preventative health care for your pet as well as behavioural advice and information on diagnostic tests and treatment plans for any medical or surgical problems.
Common Reasons for seeking a consultation;
■ A pet feeling unwell or showing a change in behaviour
■ Dental checks because of bad breath
■ Checking any lumps or bumps that may have developed on your dog
■ A lameness that has come on suddenly or one that has been persisting
■ A pet exhibiting signs of soreness, discomfort or pain
■ Senior checks for dogs slowing down or becoming stiff
■ Behavioural concerns
■ Quality of life consultations

We have been taking our animals to this practice for over 20 years for dogs, horses and alpacas and the care and service from Rod and his team has always been fantastic. The care pathways have always been clearly and carefully explained and the subsequent management has been exemplary and empathetic. We had seen other vets prior to this but none have compared to the great service we have received here. Our children have moved to Sydney and the Highlands and still bring their pets to Rod when its been necessary as they know that they can trust that they will receive the best of care - and yet be able to avoid unnecessary procedures and expenses that are not in the animals best interests. We have unfortunately also lost animals that were very dear to us and the whole team has shown such a beautiful compassion that it has made the experience much less painful for us.
I have no hesitation in recommending this practice and indeed I have done so to friends - and they too have been more than happy with the service they have received.

Late Saturday afternoon my 6month year old chihuahua choked on a salami shaped treat it was quite solid and I took her to my local Vet which was in Albion Park. They told me that due to my dogs symptoms it seems to be stuck in her esophagus and because it's after hours I had to travel to Sydney and it would be removed for $3000. As we were driving on the highway we got caught in traffic and I just didn't want to give up. Surely someone in the Illawarra could help me. I kept trying calling Vets in the Wollongong area too but no one could help. Until I came across Dapto Vet Clinic and spoke to Rob. He genuinely wanted to help me and I was confident he knew what he was doing by that 2 minute phone call. My partner and I turned around and headed straight to Dapto.
Within 10minutes Rob got it out without any Surgery and without any internal damage. I cried of joy and relief. He just saved me hours of travel and the bill was barely a quarter of what I was quoted to begin with.
My puppy was running around like her old self and very happy.
I'm so thankful I had come across Rob's Clinic and he now has a lifetime customer."

My cat recently went to Dapto vet to have her teeth cleaned. I dropped her off in the morning and picked her up later that afternoon. The staff were very friendly and answered any questions I had about the procedure. I was kept informed throughout the day on my cat€s progress and was even given the information in case I had an emergency when they were closed. My cat recovered well and her teeth are looking clean and healthy. The way they dealt with both me and my cat was extremely professional and a pleasurable experience. The price was also very reasonable; I would highly recommend this vet clinic to any pet owners.

We'd used a mobile vet service when living in Newcastle, so my 3.5y/o german shepherd hadn't been to a vet for a few years, she only needed her annual shots & check up but was a bit nervous & that's when she'll bark at other dogs (but lick every human - she's a weird one). They managed her great, especially when another dog came in - calmly moving her behind the counter and ushering the other dog through & quietly shutting the door. Veruca was none the wiser & no drama at all. Great parking too. Definitely our new vet

Don't let the receptionist clip dogs nails. I used to take my dog there for nail clipping only, thinking they can't possibly get that wrong, on the contrary, they did. She clipped a nail so far back it bled immediately, it resulted in an infection, this was followed by MANY Vet visits (to another vet), he was on antibiotic, his toes was so swollen, stronger antibiotics were given. the price of baby booties so he wouldn't chew it was costly, the wrapping bandage around the bootie plus a powder antibiotic on top of the medications and then he had to have a cone on his head, STILL his paw was never the same, the only option was to amputate his toe. The cost in Vet bills was nearing $800 just because someone didn't know how to clip a dogs nail properly.

We have been taking our animals to this practice for over 20 years for dogs, horses and alpacas and the care and service from Rod and his team has always been fantastic. The care pathways have always been clearly and carefully explained and the subsequent management has been exemplary and empathetic. We had seen other vets prior to this but none have compared to the great service we have received here. Our children have moved to Sydney and the Highlands and still bring their pets to Rod when its been necessary as they know that they can trust that they will receive the best of care - and yet be able to avoid unnecessary procedures and expenses that are not in the animals best interests. We have unfortunately also lost animals that were very dear to us and the whole team has shown such a beautiful compassion that it has made the experience much less painful for us.
I have no hesitation in recommending this practice and indeed I have done so to friends - and they too have been more than happy with the service they have received.

The staff were very friendly and answered any questions I had about the procedure. I was kept informed throughout the day on my cat€s progress and was even given the information in case I had an emergency when they were closed.
