Merlin got the green light and we are both happy campers. I am happy as I have full trust in Bas. I am certainly not the only one. I think he probably has the biggest animal fan club in Sydney.

+++Such a great Team at Sydney Animal Hospital Newtown. I took my sick Frenchie ( Anastasia ) in. She was well cared for and great communication from the Vets giving me updates twice a day. They quickly diagnosed her problem. and she is onto recovery now. The Vets, Nurses and receptionist all were very polite and Helpful. Thank you again for taking such good care of Anastasia for me.

I have been attending this vet hospital with my cats and dog for 12 years. BAZ HARGRIES THE VET THERE IS A LEGEND. He is wonderful with all animals and diagnosed my little dog that had a problem and came up with a solution.
Some of the vets there are more experienced than others who are just starting out. There is also a great vet there who is also an orthopedics specialist who remedied my little dogs leg. You can ring ahead and ask if your favourite vet is in on the day. You can also ask for a second opinion by another vet there as well, if you are not happy. BAZ HAS THE BIGGEST HEART, HE IS KIND, GENEROUS AND IS DEFINITELY NOT IN IT FOR THE MONEY. HE IS MY HERO. HIS EXPERTISE IS SECOND TO NONE.

Our puppy was 8 weeks old and had coughed up a sharp bit of plastic, we are first time owners and were terrified that she was severely injured. She was crying so waited around the corner in the car so she wouldn't disturb the reception area. I came in to check when the vet was available and I was completely ignored by the reception girls. They said to each other "What does this one want" "Who?" "The tall one". Then made me another booking even though that's not what I asked them. They also had recorded the wrong breed of dog and asked me if I was sure that I knew what breed my puppy is. She's a West Highland Terrier. I know what she is. The 1 star is for the lady vet who is lovely, but the reception team were the most horrible and rude people to deal with.
Visit #2:
My husband brought our puppy in who was 10 weeks old for her 2nd round of shots. The male vet gave him so much attitude about everything. He recorded on her permanent vet record that she needed puppy classes. She was 10 weeks old. She was too young for classes and we were getting her shots so she could be around other dogs. He also judged us for keeping her in an apartment. My husband works from home and spends most of the day doing training exercises or playing with her. Our apartment is a huge split level area with a very large grassed balcony that she plays on. We take very good care of her, she's just a puppy who has a lot of energy. The male vet doesn't seem to like people or puppies.
Take your pet somewhere else where they actually care.

Had to take my kitty here late at night as she had gotten out of a newly applied bandage from a home vet visit. Nurse Blair was incredibly sweet with my girl and bandaged her back up. An hour later, my Houdini got out of the new bandage again, Blair was really helpful, kind and patient, taking us back in again to tend to her. It really means a lot to know there are good vets out there that you can rely on with kind-hearted staff and friendly faces for any emergency.

Such long handy hours as they are opened till 11pm! These vets are very experienced, helpful and so kind with all my pets throughout the years. Sam is a skilled surgeon and rectified my dogs knee issues when she was young which allowed her to run and enjoy herself at the park again once she recovered:) They have been there through the good times and the amazing Dr Bas was there for our toughest time when we had to say goodbye to our girl. His experience and kindness helped us get through an extremely sad and difficult time. Highly recommend this team!

Such long handy hours as they are opened till 11pm! These vets are very experienced, helpful and so kind with all my pets throughout the years. I tried calling again and the same thing happened, but that time I heard a woman's voice in the room, as if she was speaking to someone else. After writing my initial Google review, which was one star and the sentences, "I would call and they'd pick up and hang up. Easy review.", I received a voice mail message from a woman named, Kylie. I called her back and found out that she had read my review. She explained that they were having phone issues. I told her that I was shopping around for cat haircut prices. She said that she would get someone at the animal hospital to call me back and answer any questions I may have. Someone did call, and I go the info I needed. Now, Kylie had called me a second and third time. The third time, she left a voice mail message asking if I had the cat haircut stuff sorted. Then she mentioned how my negative Google review is hurting the animal hospital's rating. I think staff members shouldn't pick up the phone and then hang up. They should greet us on the phone and put us on hold.

We were about to take Pepper to a 24 hour vet... and almost paid double for the consultation fee. So glad we found this place. We found it on google and saw that the reviews were good. When we got there at 9pm, we received amazing treatment from wonderful staff and our vet Peta. Even wrote us a medical history note for us to take Pepper to the local vet. Fantastic service, will be back for sure!

They always take great care of my dog! Friendly Vets that take time to give advice and explain things. They are open pretty late and run a puppy pre-school. They stock all the vaccination/flea/worm/tick treatments. They have a good selection of cat/dog food and treats. You can also drop your dog off for a grooming before work and pick it up after work. They even do boarding if you need to go on a short business trip. These guys are my best friend's best friend.

I really like the opening hours of this vet hospital; it's easy to get my pets seen outside of work hours. The reception staff are great too. I recently had my little dog boarded there for a couple of days, which was very reasonably priced and easy to drop off and pick up at the times I needed to. My darling was happy enough when I picked him up so all is good. I would only have liked it better if the staff had contacted me while I was away to let me know if he was doing okay.

Our little rescue dog has been in the care of SAHN for almost 3 years and has met several extremely, knowledgeable and caring Vets, Nurses and Handlers. The service they provide is exceptional and will always be open with you in giving the best advice for you and your pet.
Marco (the dog) has seen Kate, Sonia, Sam and Bas in the last week and they have really helped us through a stressful period. I'm sure there were other vets taking care of Marco that I don't know about and I'm grateful for their help too.
The nurses have got to know Marco's quirks over the years and how to handle him and I'm really thankful of all their help.

Expensive but even more irritating is misdiagnosing our dog with 3 rounds of anti biotics which never fixed him and sedated him when he had to stay the day there because they couldn't manage a 5 month old pup. Extremely disappointed. All these issues were highlighted even more when we changed vets and problems were immediately resolved with correct diagnosis. Makes me wonder how many more visits and wasted antibiotics they would have stuffed him with if we stayed. Don't let the fancy fit out fool you. We moved to mascot vet, and two other dog owners were there waiting for a consultation, funnily enough both have left erskineville vet for the exact same reason. Enough said?

All vets are expensive especially after hours. However SAH in Erskineville is open 7am-11pm and charge at standard consulting rates even up until 11pm ($82). We have had Peta and Bas and found their attention to detail and ability to give you the honest info while caring about how you take it and the likelihood of the problem developing (if any) and what to look out for. We've had overnight stays and test run all at a reasonable cost and never unnecessarily.

I have been attending this vet hospital with my cats and dog for 12 years. BAZ HARGRIES THE VET THERE IS A LEGEND. He is wonderful with all animals and diagnosed my little dog that had a problem and came up with a solution.
Some of the vets there are more experienced than others who are just starting out. There is also a great vet there who is also an orthopedics specialist who remedied my little dogs leg. You can ring ahead and ask if your favourite vet is in on the day. You can also ask for a second opinion by another vet there as well, if you are not happy. BAZ HAS THE BIGGEST HEART, HE IS KIND, GENEROUS AND IS DEFINITELY NOT IN IT FOR THE MONEY. HE IS MY HERO. HIS EXPERTISE IS SECOND TO NONE.

Our puppy was 8 weeks old and had coughed up a sharp bit of plastic, we are first time owners and were terrified that she was severely injured. She was crying so waited around the corner in the car so she wouldn't disturb the reception area. I came in to check when the vet was available and I was completely ignored by the reception girls. They said to each other "What does this one want" "Who?" "The tall one". Then made me another booking even though that's not what I asked them. They also had recorded the wrong breed of dog and asked me if I was sure that I knew what breed my puppy is. She's a West Highland Terrier. I know what she is. The 1 star is for the lady vet who is lovely, but the reception team were the most horrible and rude people to deal with.
Visit #2:
My husband brought our puppy in who was 10 weeks old for her 2nd round of shots. The male vet gave him so much attitude about everything. He recorded on her permanent vet record that she needed puppy classes. She was 10 weeks old. She was too young for classes and we were getting her shots so she could be around other dogs. He also judged us for keeping her in an apartment. My husband works from home and spends most of the day doing training exercises or playing with her. Our apartment is a huge split level area with a very large grassed balcony that she plays on. We take very good care of her, she's just a puppy who has a lot of energy. The male vet doesn't seem to like people or puppies.
Take your pet somewhere else where they actually care.

Had to take my kitty here late at night as she had gotten out of a newly applied bandage from a home vet visit. Nurse Blair was incredibly sweet with my girl and bandaged her back up. An hour later, my Houdini got out of the new bandage again, Blair was really helpful, kind and patient, taking us back in again to tend to her. It really means a lot to know there are good vets out there that you can rely on with kind-hearted staff and friendly faces for any emergency.

Such long handy hours as they are opened till 11pm! These vets are very experienced, helpful and so kind with all my pets throughout the years. Sam is a skilled surgeon and rectified my dogs knee issues when she was young which allowed her to run and enjoy herself at the park again once she recovered:) They have been there through the good times and the amazing Dr Bas was there for our toughest time when we had to say goodbye to our girl. His experience and kindness helped us get through an extremely sad and difficult time. Highly recommend this team!

I tried calling again and the same thing happened, but that time I heard a woman's voice in the room, as if she was speaking to someone else. After writing my initial Google review, which was one star and the sentences, "I would call and they'd pick up and hang up. Easy review.", I received a voice mail message from a woman named, Kylie. I called her back and found out that she had read my review. She explained that they were having phone issues. I told her that I was shopping around for cat haircut prices. She said that she would get someone at the animal hospital to call me back and answer any questions I may have. Someone did call, and I go the info I needed. Now, Kylie had called me a second and third time. The third time, she left a voice mail message asking if I had the cat haircut stuff sorted. Then she mentioned how my negative Google review is hurting the animal hospital's rating. I think staff members shouldn't pick up the phone and then hang up. They should greet us on the phone and put us on hold.

We were about to take Pepper to a 24 hour vet... and almost paid double for the consultation fee. So glad we found this place. We found it on google and saw that the reviews were good. When we got there at 9pm, we received amazing treatment from wonderful staff and our vet Peta. Even wrote us a medical history note for us to take Pepper to the local vet. Fantastic service, will be back for sure!

I really like the opening hours of this vet hospital; it's easy to get my pets seen outside of work hours. The reception staff are great too. I recently had my little dog boarded there for a couple of days, which was very reasonably priced and easy to drop off and pick up at the times I needed to. My darling was happy enough when I picked him up so all is good. I would only have liked it better if the staff had contacted me while I was away to let me know if he was doing okay.

Our little rescue dog has been in the care of SAHN for almost 3 years and has met several extremely, knowledgeable and caring Vets, Nurses and Handlers. The service they provide is exceptional and will always be open with you in giving the best advice for you and your pet.
Marco (the dog) has seen Kate, Sonia, Sam and Bas in the last week and they have really helped us through a stressful period. I'm sure there were other vets taking care of Marco that I don't know about and I'm grateful for their help too.
The nurses have got to know Marco's quirks over the years and how to handle him and I'm really thankful of all their help.

Expensive but even more irritating is misdiagnosing our dog with 3 rounds of anti biotics which never fixed him and sedated him when he had to stay the day there because they couldn't manage a 5 month old pup. Extremely disappointed. All these issues were highlighted even more when we changed vets and problems were immediately resolved with correct diagnosis. Makes me wonder how many more visits and wasted antibiotics they would have stuffed him with if we stayed. Don't let the fancy fit out fool you. We moved to mascot vet, and two other dog owners were there waiting for a consultation, funnily enough both have left erskineville vet for the exact same reason. Enough said?
