Was not happy with our recent experience with this veterinary clinic. We took our 10 year 7 month year old Australian terrier with conjunctivitis and slight breathing problems to this veterinary clinic and two weeks later he is dead. After the first course of Antibiotics and eye ointment, his eyes improved but were still not right and his breathing was still not normal. After a vet offered another repeat course, the Antibiotic was different and the eye cream was not needed as the Vet indicated that this new broad spectrum Antibiotic could fix his eyes and the breathing problem without the use of the eye ointment. This broad spectrum Antibiotic didn’t agree with our dog and made him sick and vomit. We stopped this course of antibiotics and took the dog back to the vet, the dog was then given an injection to help with Nausea and vomiting from these latest Antibiotics. Next, a full blood analysis was then taken to see what possible underlying problems could have been present. The test showed alarming abnormalities including high blood sugar levels, which would indicate pancreas not producing insulin. Was sent home with more pain relief tablets with no more options of correcting the ‘life threatening’ Hyperglycaemia. Obviously he was full blown Diabetic. He needed Insulin to help him but was not administered any Insulin and the insulin treatment should of occurred then and there. I told the Vet he was totally off eating any food and we were given Tramadol pain relief tablets and told to go home. The dog should have been put on a Drip then and there, straight away. The next three days he went downhill even further and still not eating a thing. In the end not even drinking. We rushed the dog back in on deaths door. The dog was FINALLY put on IV fluid replacement therapy and Insulin administered as well. The dogs blood sugar levels were through the roof, worse than the blood analysis test three days prior. The dog then was in Diabetic Keto Acidosis. The next morning he passed away. We are so saddened and disappointed that he wasn’t put on IV therapy straight after the blood analysis three days before. Our dog needed more than just Tramadol tablets for pain relief, as his blood sugar levels from three days before were 28. Which is extremely high and life threatening. We’ve lost our much loved Dog. Being “supposedly” diagnosed with Pancreatitis, upon viewing other Veterinary treatment options: Introveinous therapy is generally given and Insulin as well once IV fluids have started. More proactive and preventative measures should have been given. IV Therapy was too late. Read Less
