We put a 3 month old puppy in for treatment on two consecutive days. We saw three different vets. The costs were very substantial. There were X-ray/s, intravenous fluids, pain reflief and antobiotics. On the second day when we collected the puppy, the third vet we saw indicated he didn’t know anything about the puppy; hadn’t reviewed the relevant notes; but thought the issue was an infection, not a spinal issue - which was the earlier suggestion. The puppy was no better. We went to the Animal Emergency Referral Cenre. This time they reviewed all the relevant documents and notes on the puppy from Hamilton Vet. There was an X-ray they said, but the puppy’s limb covered that part of the lung that pneumonia was likely to be found in, if it was present. The puppy had a consistent and frequent cough. We agreed to another X-ray, yes, he had pneumonia, which should have been picked up at Hamilton on day one. If you want the case to be efficiently and competently handled, our experience would you should not go to Hamilton Vet Clinic. Go to AERC instead. Read Less

Very disappointed with our recent experience. The staff are all very nice, however on this occasion we were quoted $290 over the phone to get our female rabbit desexed, which we felt was quite steep but agreed because we would prefer to have her spayed for health reasons. When I brought her in for the procedure I was advised that they actually charge $355, which is absolutely absurd. I therefore cancelled the procedure. The sad thing is, the same thing happened to us when we got our male rabbit desexed last April. We called and were quoted $90, but when we got in there it was actually $120. Last time they did honour the quoted price, but not this time. I've since contacted a different practice, who have quoted $205 + pain relief of $35 if it's required. Even though we have been clients for a number of years with our dog as well, due to these experiences and the ridiculously high prices, we will not be returning to Hamilton vet clinic. Read Less
