My pup Rippa had surgery done at Kirrawee vet. Dr Jo was great and all the staff are very lovely and caring. Rippa was well looked after and even after the 5th visit was still racing to get out of the car and was very surprisingly so excited to be at the vet! KVH has a special small animal vet which is great for us who have 3 rabbits (Casper, Lotti and Riccochet). Dr Kathy and the rest of the team are fantastic. As our bunnies are rescues we know they are likely to have health problems.Read Less

Awesome place :) I was looking after my friend's 2yr old black cat 'Rocko' while they were on holidays for a week and the major surgery and recovery he had was first class. They even helped me daily with the medication/tablets which I had trouble doing myself. They were so friendly, always warm hearted and caring, even when run off their feet with phone calls, walk-ins and procedures. I have taken my dog here for over 8 years after my last visit I will never go back. I have had two bad experiences at this vet. The first was when I took my dog in for a paralysis tick and also a infected gum (from the tick). They recommended me to leave him in their care overnight, I did so and picked him up the following day after many phone calls because no vet could speak to me. When I got him back his mouth was still full of puss. I called them and complained (after many phone calls again) and was told I could bring him back and they would look at him FOC. Trusting my gut instinct I didn't and cleaned the wound myself. The next and last time was when I took him there for a Hernia which they had seen on multiple occasions from when it was small but over time had grown to be very large. I was told the same story about an operation I could have him which would cost me a considerable amount and the same problem could reoccur or my dog could die during the procedure. This time they told me about another procedure I could have done, a smaller one, I'm angry because it had never been suggested to me before but also I am furious that when I took my dog who could hardly stand into the vet she didn't check his heart beat or look at his bottom where the hernia was. She just opened his mouth to have a look at his teeth and pressed his stomach. A visit for a total of 10 minutes, costing $65 to be told the same thing as I always had been at this vet. After leaving the vet and not feeling confident in the situation I took my dog to another vet. The vet spent an hour with him, gave him an internal examination, checked his heartbeat and my dog was the most comfortable I had ever seen him with another vet especially when they were giving him an internal examination. The vet didn't try sell me any expensive operations, she spoke to me about the options and suggested that due to his age (he is 14) an operation probably wouldn't be beneficial. She only charged me $65, the same amount as Kirrawee Vet Hospital. While some people may have had good experiences at Kirrawee Vet Hospital mine certainly wasn't and I regret that I continued to take my dog here on the basis that they knew his situation and would be the best people. Any issues I ever had were always palmed off and I would be waiting days for a phone call back, from my experiences they are driven by profit and not a love for animals.Read Less

I had been loyal to another local Vet for many years until attending here (my last Vet had outdated equipment and young inexperience staff working for him). So I changed to Kirrawee Vets where the staff combine their knowledge to correctly diagnose my cat's health issue. They also have up to date equipment at hand.Read Less

My dog died there because of poor care-taking, my dog was obviously very sick and lathargic, he had aspiration pnuemonia. However, the doctors thought it wasnt serious enough (poor judgement), even with more than ten vomits per day, and so did not give him 24 hour emergency service. We even paid for the dog to stay there so they could look after him, and i am not sure if they asked us to do that just because they wanted money or not. The next morning they called us saying that he had passed away, not even sure what time he passed away, i don't understand how someones life can be handled by someone who could not even take care of the dog by at least giving him hope by staying 24 hrs, money is nothing compared to life. I am not even sure if they treated him right and professionally. This vet is alright for small problems but definitely a no for major problems. The dog was improving as well, but under their hands he suddenly just dies, it doesn't make sense. They could easily cover themselves by making up excuses. This vet is untrustworthy and unreliable. I use to go to another vet in a neighbouring suburb for years - (I felt they were only in it for the money), but then I discovered Kirrawee Vet, and wished I'd taken my dogs there sooner. We have been going to KVH since about 1977/8....many many animals in that time.....never had anything but the best of treatment for our pets & also for us! The fact that they are open 7 days a week is a god sent. Our little brat of a kitty got stung by a bee near her eye. Now these things always happen on a weekend.
