Complete waste of time and money!
My cat had had an episode of diarrhoea, however he was bright eyed, eating well and playing at time of consultation. I wanted him checked for peace of mind. This review is NOT about Susan the vet there.
Once the consultation began the whole consultation became focussed on getting me to purchase their Hills cat food. When asked what brand I use the vet told me it isn’t good for my cat, I should use Hills (their shelves in reception are full of Hills food). I asked her to explain why I shouldn't keep using my current brand and she told me it’s just poor quality and not produced well (well that’s an evidence based answer for you!). The vet went on to state that she gets nothing for promoting the Hills brand yet continued to try and coax me into buying it. I had to state 3 times ‘I’m ok thank you I would like to stick to my brand’. The vet then appeared to become angry in her approach. She did her checks, put the cat back in the cage made no conversation and went to write her notes. I was paying $65 for the brief visit it would have been nice to hear what she was checking and finding. I had observed her check my cat’s teeth at the start. I later asked her how his teeth were. The vet who was now sat at the computer proceeded to get up from her chair and pull the poor cat back out of the cage to check his teeth again!
After the consultation she just opened the door for me without saying a word.
Because of the vet’s behaviour I was curious to see what she had written in my notes. I requested
the notes to be emailed to me. The vet had basically stated that she had gone through all my past
notes and that I had lied about the food they were on being fine for all my cats due to them having
the occasional bout of diarrhoea and constipation. She also stated that I projected my own stress
onto my cats (I had previously said to her that I had been very stressed recently, away from home
more than usual and really busy).
I am happy for vets to educate me about my cats, however some vets need to realise that as pet
owners we ARE allowed to make an informed choice and they need to respect our decisions and
choices. For me this consultation was a waste of time, waste of my money! Read Less
