My 13 year old Baby Boy Wunderbar was acting very sick. We raced him to the closest place. We were very unhappy with how they spoke to us and what they were going to do with him. We thought of Hamish but 30 mins away. They said it was urgent, urgent urgent but we raced him to Hamish. He said he'd cancel all the non-urgents. We begged our boy to live the whole way over. When we got there, we raced him in. It was highly likely twisted bowel. Hamish operated immediately. The sta...ff were loving, kind and professional. We were ridiculously hysterical:)) An hour later, Wund was still alive but we needed to see if he would get through the operation. He stayed overnight at the Emergency Hospital in Fyshwick. They were brilliant. I thought I was asleep, but they rang at midnight and I bounced out of bed. The old man was fighting, he was doing ok. The next day he recovered enough that he could go home except they said he wasn't eating. I turned up with his favourite barbie chicken! He ate :)) My boy was going to live!!! We couldn't wait to get him home and had a hell of a time the next day keeping him calm and resting. A different dog came home. That was in November last year. He now is the Boss again of the farm, and 3 other Shepherds and 2 feral cats. Last week I spoke to someone who had just had a terrible time and had to manage a very sick dog. I told them my story and said "Thank God for Hamish" just as an after comment. She looked at me and laughed and said 'Yes Thank God for Hamish". 10/10 vet! I took my puppy here for his vaccinations, it was the cheapest vet I could find around Canberra and a the vet was so great with my am staff! You can tell that he loves animals and all the staff were very friendly, to top of what was already an amazing experience they even gave us a puppy pack before we left with some food and tonnes of info. I absolutely adore the staff at West Queanbeyan Veterinary Hospital as they care a great deal about what they do and have the utmost respect and consideration for all animals. For example, the staff – Dr. Brett Jones in particular – decided to save a poor stray cat’s life, took excellent care of him, named him Bernard and prepared him for adoption. And because of this generous and benevolent act, I now have the sweetest, cuddliest, and cutest cat in the world! Just like to say a big thank you to Haymish Cameron and the staff for your dedication and time you have put into giving our dogs the care devotion that we have not been able to find in vets in canberra. We are registered dog breeders in Canberra act. All though we have some wounderful vets in Canberra and ive been to a few in the south side and woden area . Not many of them carry the quality or devotion to animals that Haymish Cameron and his staff does. West Queanbeyan also have a wounderful bunch of very experienced vets and vet nurses. If i found a better vet in Canberra i wouldn't drive all the way to Queanbeyan to get my dogs seen. West Queanbeyan vet is a highly professional, highly organised and friendly veterinary hospital. I have had my puppy in several times now for dog immunisations and a few other "puppy issues" and have walked away very happy with diagnosis, overall efficiency and general establishment feel (very positive). They are prepared to go that little bit extra to ensure the wellbeing of the animal which gives piece of mind also. As a business owner myself I am very happy to reccomend such an establishment and compliment all the staff in their roles. Sub note: I must say It's nice to see that the staff still get mesmerised by a cute puppy/animal even though they must see so many cute animals throughout their everyday vet routine. I have been taking my dog to Brett for over 3 years as he was dealt a real lemon of health in life. Brett quickly diagnosed Addison's disease and went well above his duties to ensure he understood exactly every requirement that Jasper needed. Recently Jasper suffered a very severe sudden decline in health and Brett and Hamish were both very supportive through the diagnosing process as well as giving us our decisions on what was best for Jasper with out judgement. Thanks again guys and hope not to see you so frequently with our next baby (in the best possible way) Love your work! Easily one of the best veterinary practices around. Very eager to fit in an animal in need of attention if you call. Vets are great and handle the animals well. Very knowledgeable and offer a great fount of knowledge on all aspects of animal care. Prices on visits are reasonable, but, I would try to avoid the store in the foyer as it's a little expensive. Our dog and cat both come here, haven't had a bad experience yet. Bring in your animal and I'm sure you'll be glad you did. Read Less
