We've been bringing our dogs here for the last twenty-or-so-years. Richard, Jackie and Chris are exceptional and so are the nurses. The girls have, for the most part, been employed by Richard for over 15 years. It speaks volumes about the practice and how it is run. They all go out of their way to help and although one person reviewed the place as old and unkept (by the way, it's unkempt not unkept), I would ask this question; do you want your pet to be treated and cared for in a superlative manner or would you rather have a slick, over-charging, cold veterinary hospital? I know which I would rather have. Recently, my German Shepherd developed gastric torsion (bloat) and needed emergency surgery. The surgery lasted over three hours and no-one went home until it was over. Richard even went back to the surgery in the middle of the night to check on my dog. Thanks to the care and dedication of all in the practice, Axel is well again, so, if you think I am biased, I certainly am. I highly recommend you ignore the decor and look a bit further. This place is as it looks, it's old, decrepit and badly unkept. The tiny waiting room smells extremely bad, its like there are 100 cats and dogs living in there each night. I have a large house trained dog and even I had trouble breathing inside their room for the 5 minutes I could physically stand being there. Also If your dog hates cats and you don't want too stress your pet out more than it already is, then don't bother going there as well, as they have cats in a large cage in a tiny waiting room. I took my baby in for his first vet visit to get desexed and I couldn't have been happier with his care, the staff were so lovely and accommodating to my cat-mumma worries. My parents have been going here for years and years, so when the time came to get a fur baby of our own, there was no doubt in my mind about which vet I would see. When I found my fur baby sick, I rushed her straight to Mamre Road, who were quick to see us and start intensive treatment and care to stabilise her. The staff were a pleasure to deal with and did everything they could all whilst consulting us and updating is with what was happening. Richard even went out of his way late at night to check on our fur baby. Unfortunately our beautiful Bella didn't make it. When the time comes to open up our hearts and home to another fur baby, we will defiantly be going to Mamre Rd vets again. Been to this vet for the past 21 years and present the staff are amazing and have been their from pups to senior years and helped me through the hard decision of putting my senior dog to sleep , they are also welcome to any lost pet no matter how Big or small checking for micro chips and finding their home . I have been using this vet for over 14 years and have never had a problem, not every doctor gets it right every time and occasionally there can be a problem (if only cats could talk and tell them what is wrong!), but I have always found Mamre Rd Vets to be helpful, caring and explain what they are going to do, have done & what I need to do to help my cats get better quickly. I had to take Kimberly to them urgently this morning for an abscessed paw caused by an ingrown claw, the young nurse/Dr was extremely caring, with the urgent problem I had and then clipped some of the knots from Kimberly so she felt much better. Kimberly is now much happier & will soon be out of pain and looking well coiffured to boot!...and the reasonable price..... for clipping, minor surgery, antibiotic injection taking almost 1hour & a happy Kimberly...........priceless....... they charge a hand full! prices are NOT reasonable. one vet didnt know what was wrong with my dog did a number of tests. and still didnt have a clue. receptionist was rude and arrogant. very disappointing. Read Less
