We were regulars at another establishment but in a late night emergency we were told by the person at the vet to go somewhere else. Amazing - we really needed help. I cannot recommend this veterinary hospital highly enough. After having a NOT so pleasant experience at another clinic nearby, I was referred to Sylvania vet by a friend for a second opinion. I am so Glad I took my sick kitty there. From the moment we walked in the door to seeing the vet (Elouise) to leaving, it was such a pleasant experience. The staff were so thorough, caring and compassionate. The staff explained what was going on rather than just giving you the bill and pushing you out the door. This Sunday my got up weak and wobbly. It was wonderful to be able to take her to her own vet (for 15 3/4 years) and have all her medical records there. The doctors and staff worked tirelessly to try to save her. They kept me informed until she passed away "surrounded by her friends". Highly recommended vet in the shire area. They are great with our dog and the staff is very friendly and helpful. They have late opening hours in the evenings which is very handy and offer 24 hour emergency support. They even have a great selection of pet food and offer puppy preschool which was very good. I would definitely refer family and friends to Sylvania Vet! All the staff was knowledgeable, helpful and friendly! They took time to get to know me and my Boxer, Zeus making both of us feel at ease! All my questions were addressed and any concerns about wether or not they were the vet for us were eliminated early in the visit. Beautiful place with genuine people with passion for all animals. We found 4 little kittens that were in desperate need for help in which Sylvania Veterinary Hopsital took them in. Upon visiting today, it was fantastic to see these kittens are in brilliant health, and ready for adoption. It was also clear that they had given a lot of time, love and energy towards these rescues. DO NOT board your cats here. I left my cats here for 1 hour before I had to take them out. Dirty, smelly, cruel and INFESTED with fleas. I went in there for 5 minutes to say my goodbyes to the cats then walked out with fleas on me DISGUSTING!! These people DO NOT care about the health and welfare of your pet they are just in it for the money. Overall this place is the defentition of ANIMAL CREULTY!! Absolutely disgusted.Read Less

My golden retriever was loosing weight and had lost her appetite. We had no idea what the problem was? When I called our regular vet's office, they said they had availability days later. In a situation like we were experiencing, time was of the essence. Certainly wasn't going to have her suffer through the issue. We heard about Sylvania Vets and decided to contact them. Dr. David Lee was very knowledgable, attentive, informed and was so gentle and complimentary with our pet. After a shot of antibiotics, we were on our way home. The Nurses called they next day to check on our little girl and followed the call up with a sweet card. A week later, our pet saw Dr. Munro. She was pretty great too. She was very helpful and supportive with an issue we were having. They totally won us over. So grateful to them for helping us through this rough situations. Read Less

If you love your pets, don't take them to Sylvania. Given that I only live up the road from them, they would have been the easiest option. I don't have time to go into the details of the horrific experience we endured there, or the numerous negative experiences my friends (and their family) have also experienced. I almost lost my dog, who ended up coming home in atrocious condition (almost dead), from a simple infection. He came home worse than when he went in, after spending two weeks there. I later took him to two other vets, hoping that he would come good. The simply diagnosis was "neglect" from the care he was supposed to have received from Sylvania. Luckily, in the end he did recover. It seems they are only in it for the money, and don't really care for the welfare of the animals. I got the chance to "look behind the scenes" and saw the condition of the cages in which the animals are kept in the back of the surgery - disgusting!!!
