I too had to use this vet once and once only - they allowed my cat to remain suffering for no valid reason except for what I would call absolute incompetence in my opinion. One thing that is glaringly apparent is there does appear to be Poor Service, Over stated charges and Very Poor service by people that claim they care for Animals. One must wonder why the management would allow this poor level and poor outline of charges to continue. - I question their motives and again would not hesitate to advise people to wait if you can to go to a Vet in the morning - however if you cannot wait please Document your service and ensure you are quite aware and agree via signature to their charges, otherwise you will find yourself being Financially Abused during a very highly Emotional Time. Sorry ACE but I do question your services and lack thereof which I feel needs to be Investigated, in my opinion. Read Less

I found the staff at the AEC excellent. My puppy was taken there from my regular vet for an overnight stay. I was charged slightly less than the quote. My puppy was transferred back to the referring vet in an improved condition. I think it's important to remember that this is an emergency centre and extremely busy. Very happy with the care given to my pet. I found the staff polite. Read Less

I took my dog in 1am this morning. She had a paralysis tick on her. I was given 3 options. Steven was the vet and I would highly recommend him. Yes it cost a arm and a leg but they saved my girl.

Have taken my cats here out of hours for emergency care, most recently this week when Audrey was bitten by a paralysis tick which was discovered at midnight. We were consulted straight away, a course of treatment recommended, and a full run down of all costs given. Yes, the consultation is more expensive than a regular hours vet, but for life and death situations you pay what you have to pay. In my opinion, the cost of the consultation is the only more expensive service they offer, which makes sense because staff costs overnight are significantly more expensive. Thank you AEC for your professionalism and care looking after my baby. Read Less

My cat suffered a blocked bladder which meant he went downhill very fast after a trip to his usual vet the day before. I was very happy that the Emergency vet was open overnight cause by 5 a.m. he is was in a lot of pain and distressed as was I. Expensive yes, but it is an EMERGENCY hospital and the treatment he received was immediate, professional and I felt confident my cat would survive the night. Again, I reiterate do not forget this is an Emergency centre. If you need ordinary day to day veterinary attention then go to your usual vet. My cat received extraordinary veterinary attention and don't forget these vets and nurses are working out of ordinary hours.Read Less

On Sunday the 14th February after a 12 hour shift I stopped into Coles to buy some groceries. It was 8:30pm and the staff at Coles were kicking out a dog that kept trying to sneak in. The dog was put outside and continued to run on the main road. I chased the dog and lured it into my car. The dog was extremely underweight, malnourished, scared and unsure of its surroundings. At approximately 8:45pm I turned up to your vet and rang the door. A lady who was rather young, tall and had blonde hair rudely greeted me whilst I just asked her if she could help me locate the dogs owner by scanning for a microchip. She bluntly told me to hold the dog, as she has sick, dying animals inside. She continued to walk back in rolling her eyes at the other staff as if I was some sort of nuisance. I found this situation difficult enough without feeling like I was doing something wrong by asking her to scan the dog for me. If I could do it myself I would have, but thats why we have vets to supposedly help us. When she came back out she gave me the details of the owner. I was rather blunt back with her as I felt extremely upset with the way she handled the situation. I told her I understand she is following protocol but there is no need for her to make faces or be rude when I was just trying to help a lost dog. She did not apologise. I took the dog home. I believe if I didnt help that dog It would have gotten hit by a car that night. I rarely ever make complaints however; I often volunteer at the pound to walk the dogs. In this circumstance I was doing nothing but trying to help. I always thought vets were there to help animals and have a love and passions for them. I suggest you speak to this staff member and ensure something like this doesnt happen to someone else again. I will not be returning nor will I recommend your services to anyone. Read Less

I took my dog there at 9pm one night after he had been hit by a car. He did not look the best and the staff there were on it straight away. They kept us informed through the whole process and were kind and caring. I have to say that thankfully he was saved, and I think it was due to the work of these great vets. Whilst it was expensive, we were informed of the costs and you have to think that these vets are working through the night, so deserve extra. Thankfully, a friend talked me into getting Pet Insurance, so it did not hurt as much as I will get about 80% back. The only negative is that the vet closes at 9am in the morning, so we had to move Charlie, who was still on Oxygen, to another vet. This was a bit stressful and we chose a vet close by so he would not be without for too long. 4 weeks later he has made a full recovery,,, he just gets a little tired at the end of his walk...but such a trooper for such a small dog.Read Less

I took my 8 week old puppy there on Sunday 8th of November 2015 at around 4pm. The puppy's injuries were severe with little chance of survival. When I received the bill the next day it was in excess of $2600, no surgery was performed, and there appeared to be multiple charges for multiple procedures, when clearly there was no need for any further intervention. Our puppy was euthanised at 9 pm that night. The charges are exorbitant considering the staff gave us a quote for the work and asked us to sign a document stating the work would not go any higher than $1000 - $1600. What happened with regards to the sheet of paper I signed regarding the initial quote. Read Less

I have been to this centre a few times and had to re-visit in the early hours of last Saturday morning, 16/05 due to my elderly cat suffering a seizure. I can not praise or thank the staff enough for their help. From Angie who took my panicked call at 5.00am, to Karen the vet who checked my darling Buffy over and to Leanne who took numerous calls over the weekend - you were all wonderful. Special thanks to Leanne who comforted both my husband and I on Sunday morning when we had made the heart breaking decision to farewell our 16 1/2 year old buddy - we can not speak highly enough of the compassion you showed and the comfort you gave. Just a side note: I had made a distressed call to the vet I see locally prior to calling the AEO - I have spent $$$$ there over the last 18 months and all I got from them was a terse message to go to West Gosford; they did not even bother to call me through the day to see how one of their patents was - shame on you. You may have the cheapest consults on the coast but you don't offer much service. Thankfully the team at the AEO made up for your lack of customer service and compassion.
