We always take our animals here, the staff are absolutely wonderful, so caring and lovely. The vets take great care, explaining everything you need to know, and taking the time to answer all your questions - you never feel like 'just a number'. If you want your animals to be cared for, they go above and beyond to assist, and they care for animals many other vets don't even bother with, like rabbits. The costs are not that expensive, and you come away with a happy pet - can't argue with that! Read Less

From the very first contact I had with both the receptionists and vets at Sugarloaf, I found them to not only be exceptional in their levels of knowledge and expertise , but also the care and support they unstintingly offered. We had a very sick and much beloved rabbit and live 5 hours away from Sugarloaf, yet every day they checked in with me by phone to see how he was in immense detail. Dr Richard went beyond the call of duty repeatedly to assist me through a very distressing time, and Dr Mark was there on the phone at midnight the night our bunny died and the next day bending over backwards to give us the information and comfort we needed. Sugarloaf have proved outstanding in every way. I cannot thank them all enough for their loving and expert support which has helped us so much through a very stressful and sad time. Sugarloaf Animal Hospital is THE place to take your pet, no matter how weird and wonderful they are. I live in Tamworth and own two pet rats, when one of them suddenly became unwell with respiratory distress I took her to a local vet here who tried her best to help my furball, however her respiratory distress reoccurred a few weeks later. After calling around the different vets in Tamworth, looking for someone who was knowledgeable in treating rats and being told they couldn't help, one recommended I give Sugarloaf Animal Hospital a call, stating they were the experts in "unusual" pets. And how! All their staff are amazing! I called up asking if they had a vet that was knowledgeable and experienced in treating rats with respiratory issues..."YES, we see pet rats almost every day. We even do phone consults." It was music to my ears! I had a great phone consult with the lovely Dr Mark...this man knows his rats! He had an answer for every one of my numerous questions, and he was encouraging of my attempts to learn about my rats and their health issues via Dr Google (unlike other vets I've encountered previously, who have been dismissive of my googling). He devised an action plan to manage the respiratory distress until I was able to travel to Newcastle, and allowed me to source the medication required through my local vet. When I did bring my rats in to be assessed, Dr Mark was even more amazing. He was very gentle and so thorough with his assessment of their health, it was impressive to watch him listen to each individual lobe of their tiny little lungs. Every single staff member I have encountered have been truly lovely! They genuinely care how you and your pet are doing, it's such a refreshing experience! My furball is back to being her happy self courtesy of the staff at Sugarloaf Animal Hospital, and no amount of thanks from me can express the gratitude I feel for this.

What an amazing team, congratulations to the owners of such a superb organisation and all your staff, you have really created something special. Catherine, Andrew, Fergus and Lilla Read Less

Read Less

If you need a vet for birds, this place is the best. Avian vets can be hard to find so if you are a bird owner, you need to know where to find a good one for those emergencies that cannot be dealt with as well by your normal vet. The staff here are great and explain things really well. My Jewlz (a king parrot) had a nasty flying accident last year. The immediate care the practice provided and the follow up calls to check on him have left me very confident that these guys are staying in my contact list! Read Less
