My dog Mac got 2 ticks last summer season and became scarily paralysed!! We Didn’t know what was going on, so we called the Willoughby vet for some advice. Spoke to a nurse over the phone (maybe “Maddie”!?), who talked us through Macs symptoms, and realised we needed to take him in pronto! We took him into Willoughby Vet and got his ticks removed so quickly by the amazing staff. Mac took a few days to recover, and when we came to take him home I think he wanted to stay he loved the staff so much. The whole experience really shook me, and I felt like such a bad dog owner for not knowing the signs! One of the Vets there “Jen” was really helpful and understanding and gave me heaps of tick info, and im never going to another vet form now on. (They did an all rounder check up as well!) I have been going to this vet with my 2 cats for years. Generally I find them pretty good and inexpensive. Both of the vets I have seen have been knowledgeable and caring and they performed an unusual operation on one of my cats a few years ago that pretty much saved his life. Recently however I had a pretty poor situation occur. I received a letter from them invoicing me for a service that I had already paid for. Essentially they proposed that on my last visit I just walked out without paying, which of course I didn't, how is that even possible? When I called and spoke with the practice manager she basically said to me that their records were correct and I had to pay the fee unless I could produce a receipt which I wasn't able to because I generally don't keep credit card receipts from the vet. I eventually sent them my bank statement with the payment on it and they conceded that I had indeed paid. This was obviously an error on their part and I have no problem with people making mistakes generally, but there was no apology, no admission that it was their mistake. They acted like they were doing me a favor by not charging me a second time for the treatment. It's a real shame because up until that point, I only had positive things to say. I felt their customer service was pretty poor considering that I have been going to this particular vet for 5 years and the mistake was actually theirs and not mine. Both vets and nurses seemed competent, but they looked highly stressed. The vets also did not make an effort in being friendly to the pet, or calming the nervous one, but went straight to business. For example, the vet inserted the thermometer without lubricant whereas vets from other clinics would have. They also were not friendly with the human customers and seemed rather annoyed for no reason. I noticed this customer service attitude was consistent with all the customers. Price wise, this clinic is slightly cheaper than the other two vets in the area. I would recommend that you try the other clinics for your pet's better experience. Read Less

These people are not made to look after your animals. They burnt my dog during an operation because they didn't monitor the heat mat Coco was lying on. The clinic is filthy and i have pictures showing the disgusting conditions our pets are ment to stay in Peter in my opinion is evil and only out for money. Read Less

My pet survived close to 15 years because of the care undertaken by Willoughby Veterinary Hospital. Peter and Hope were exceptional in their diagnosis and continued care. Communication is spectacular during difficult periods and also following death. The staff too are exceptional. I'm a fan.Read Less

!!!! Absolutely Fabulous Care and Love, Knowledge and Understanding!!!! I recently took my suddenly paralysed dog to this Vet. Wow! What care and love and service during such a traumatic time (for me and my doggie). I could not have asked for better! 2 staff members immediately came out to help me lift my large dog out of my car with the utmost care and love. While I was parking the car, the Vet, Hope, IMMEDIATELY examined him and promptly diagnosed him. What a relief! I was impressed. Hope and the other staff member were SO LOVING, so kind and gentle to my distressed doggie during the consultation. And to me ... wow! ... through my tears, Hope handled me perfectly. She EXUDED SUCH TRUST, KNOWING AND UNDERSTANDING. I felt immensely comforted by her knowing and perfect bedside manner. I think this is vital in situations like these because I believe it is important for us owners to radiate calm and wellbeing to our animals. I believe it helps them relax and heal faster ... and that it did in my case. Hope gladly allowed me to sit in the large doggie cage with my dog, in the back, where all the other doggies are kept. I was so relieved to be able to do this and not just 'drop off' my distressed dog. I LOVED HOW THEY 'GOT IT' ... HOW IMPORTANT IT IS TO ME AND MY DOG. I SO APPRECIATED that! I sat there reassuring my dog that all is well for about an hour. During that hour I witnessed 3 other staff members frequently coming in and out attending to the other dogs. WOW!!! THE AMOUNT OF ABSOLUTE GENUINE LOVE AND AFFECTION POURING FROM THESE STAFF MEMBERS WAS HEART SOARING! It is definitely a place of love and healing! They even made sure my paralysed doggie was turned every hour and held up to 'stand' every hour to prevent bed sores. And I also noticed they frequently gave the other doggies a 'pee break' outside. Wow! what love and care! I came to visit my dog 3 times that day and each time the staff were more than happy for me to go back there to the cages. I loved how they just 'got it'. THEY FELT LIKE FAMILY. It makes ALL the difference during a time like this. I LOVE THIS PLACE! Fortunately, my dog re-gained his mobility the next day and I was able to take him home. And I was very impressed that I received a follow up call 10 days later to make sure all is still well. I highly recommend this Vet to everyone!! I wouldn't recommend this vet for anything other than the most basic veterinary consultations (vaccinations, checkups etc). I use them as they're my local and they offer a service of convenience, but over the years have learnt to appreciate their inability/unwillingness to go beyond the call of duty and actually think about how to diagnose and treat an animal that is suffering from anything other than an every day ailment. As an example, I was told my dog should be put down after the result of a blood test suggested renal failure. No urinalysis, no articulation of the diagnosis or a plan of attack, simply a plan to euthanise without any facts. Even when I suggested a urinalysis be performed, I was told this was unnecessary. In contrast, we took our dog to Bondi Vet (Ray Chan is EXCELLENT) where an array of inexpensive and quick tests were performed to gather the information that was needed to make an informed decision i.e. an assessment of the degree of renal failure, potential strategies for treatment and ongoing monitoring of the condition with my dog's quality of life at the forefront of their recommendation. Long story short it's been several months and I still have a chirpy dog who eats his meals and chases my other dogs around all day - no thanks to Willoughby Vet.Read Less
