Last friday had yet another early morning trip to AES Carrara with Manfred 14yr silky. Welcomed by lovely reception staff and updated details and discussed Manfred's problem. Seen by Dr Rod fairly quickly and Manfred's problem treated and meds given to us complete with thorough explanation and we were on our way . The staff are always so patient and compassionate not matter when.Given we were there at end of their night shift we all were treated with kindness and not feeling rushed. The education was good and enabled me to provide the ongoing care Manfred needs. Fair charge for what we received. Appreciated the followup to check all was well. Unfortunately we had to arrive on Friday night. So yes, it cost $2500 for an emergency caesarean. But your fantastic team managed to save all of my Ruby’s 5 puppies. An took great love an care of ruby. This is an hours hours vet. So you will be paying top dollar for a visit. They kept me well informed and made sure that the transition from their services to my local vet was as seamless as possible. I see a lot of reviews on here about these vets being money hungry. Definitely not the case. They are emergency vets- what do people expect...My two mini dachshunds decided to eat a fair amount of Chocolate each. I called first to check and was given a tonne of information and quotes on the phone. I brought them in right away. I was never asked to pay anything upfront. The vet induced vomiting quickly- only 20min wait after general paperwork. The Usual emergency consult is pe...r animal but they gave me half price on the second dog. Total was 1/2 the quoted amount-this was amazing. Very lovely staff, helpful and caring. They processed my pet insurance papers quickly too, which was amazing. All I had to do was sign. Quoted $1000 to stitch a small cut on my dogs leg plus $300 extra for antibiotics and anti inflammatory.... absolutely ridiculous.... and had to pay $130 for the quote. Took my dog to another vet and paid $523 total which is only half as ridiculous. Sorry Animal Emergency Service... second bad experience so one star for you! Read Less

Great veterinary staff but awful organisation between the transition of one building and service split between two different companies: day staff one company and night staff another. When I called first thing in the morning to check for an update there was a huge delay in the change over of communication and transition of responsibilities. Likewise when paying the bill at this awful time the day staff gave me the wrong details for remaining fee’s which then was paid into the other ‘night cares’ account. It was impossible to know where one ended and the other started. Also having to track down and find what sum and amounts where paid to which and where it should have gone due to being given the wrong information, as they were unable to do so and were unaware even with the reference ID of each error made. What wonderful and amazing staff we are totally impressed by the service we received. We took our Luna in with a dislocated hip last Thursday evening in a lot of pain. The staff kept us informed and explained everything in detail. Just seeing the staff with the pets that were staying there and also with Luna set us at ease leaving her in their care overnight. Took a bit of time for them to see my kitten but they were very accommodating, put us in a room as my kitten was very distressed. Lovely staff, honest and very caring. dog brought in to be treated for a hit and run accident .. felt good at first until we get the bill .. over 400 per night for the dog to stay there and the costs to surgery is more than a human in a private hospital this place is the biggest rip off in history of vet practices.. i have never in my life had such a bill quoted to fix some broken bones from a hit and run accident .. the vet said if we cannot pay they will put it down this is a disgrace .. we will be contacting the authorities and report them ..only the rich can afford these prices this is absurd we have to take out a loan to pay for this and we cant even afford it .. On Sunday 09/04 my cockatiel had just flown into a window & broken her neck but with the dismay & adrenaline I just hadn't realized. As she was dying in my hand I rang the vet about bringing her in but the receptionist was so cool & impatient despite my almost embarrassing level of distress. I'd bought my pets here before but in a crisis when your wallet is not yet opened, they didn't seem nearly as interested. Left a really bad taste in my mouth. Read Less

Over diagnosed and charged well over $1000 which I told them on the phone before arrival I would not be able to pay on the day as it was days after Christmas, and not until the next week to which they said it would be fine and we could "work something out" as "the welfare of the animal is all that matters". Then basically held me hostage for hours until payment was made for treatment they hadn't even yet performed, I had a screaming baby at home that wouldn't settle for my husband, they stuffed up our vet pay application by not listening to my advice to do it in my husband's name (but it needed to be pre-approved before I left and my husband could not come down until I went home because we have kids) , I needed to go home to my baby but they refused to let me leave to go home and settle my child, this is hours after my dog was settled and doing completely fine, they were so nasty and wouldn't let me leave the premises which sparked a panic attack (which is something that unfortunately happens to me when in very high stress situations) to which they were very unhelpful and nasty about almost like they thought I was faking. I even offered for them to call our regular vet to get a reference as we have paid thousands of dollars in bills at our regular vet as proof that we are trustworthy but they weren't interested. After hours I left against their will at 9.30pm and because they stuffed up my vet pay application and vetpay wouldn't let my husband apply to pay for the same account they told my husband over the phone to come and get our dog and take him home not before charging us almost $400. Luckily he's completely fine because they overdiagnosed him and the treatment was not even necessary which I felt in the first place anyway. I've never in my life been treated in such a way and cannot believe the way they handle accounts. I can appreciate that some people don't pay their bills so they have to treat everybody with distrust but was the hostility and hostage situation they kept me in for hours really necessary? Why couldn't they be honest and tell me they didn't actually care about the situation we were in so we could have gone to a more caring vet practise like we're used to. Read Less

The two times I've been here, my cat was treated with such amazing respect and care. The first time he was suffering from a saddle back thrombosis, and although the prognosis was pretty grim, I was informed about every test they NEEDED to do to check his vitals as well as every test they would like to do to find the cause. The vet I saw was really thorough and kind and provided us with enough medication until we could see the cardiologist at the specialist the next morning. The next time I came in was about six months later (around two weeks ago), I called first to ask for some advise and they put me onto a nurse who talked me through everything. He was admitted immediately with another clot and unfortunately began to go downhill really quickly. The female vet I had this time was so so lovely. She informed us that there was really nothing they could do at this point and that he needed to be euthanised. She allowed us plenty of time to talk about it and think as well as plenty of time with him before he was given the injection. The room was so quiet and comfortable, it didn't feel clinical or cold, there was a blanket and towel as well as the lights were dimmed. My partner was allowed to stay in the room with him as he passed and because we wanted to take him home, they provided us with a lovely biodegradable bag, ribbon and flower to bury with him. The nurse handed us to him so delicately, he wasn't treated like a dead animal, but a loved family member. As we walked out, we had nurses who were clocking on apologised for our loss. Just such a lovely experience and while it is obviously more expensive than the average vet, you do pay for them to be open when every one else isn't. They were compassionate and kind and I'd highly recommend them to anyone seeking an emergency After Hours service. Thank you so much for the lovely card as well.Read Less

I rang the hospital in springwood as there was a very young bush turkey in my garden and was in immediate danger of being killed by my cattledog or one of the many cats in the area. I was rudely told that it was a protected species and I was not allowed to remove it from the environment I found it in. I was offered no information on wildlife relocaters or anything like that. Staff were fantastic, really kind and sympathetic. I was really impressed with the service and was so grateful there's an emergency vet so close to home, as my beautiful boy had a chomp on a cane toad and was not feeling well. They saved my baby girl (neo mastiff pup) after she got bitten by a brown snake. She was paralysed and unable to breath when we got her to the clinic and within minutes we had a quote on the fees, a plan of action and a very very understanding and caring vet looking after us. They kept us updated everyday (ringing up to 3 times a day to let us know what was happening). We got to take her home today after a VERY scary 4 days. So very grateful. Amazing team. Read Less

I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to Dr Gerardo and the absolutely lovely nurses (I'm sorry I don't know your names) who helped to care for my beautiful little girl Moxie last night. Although she had to leave us, the care that was given to her prior to her passing was amazing. The nurses noticed how sick she was as soon as we walked in the door, and quickly organised care to be administered. I was informed constantly of her condition, and of what was required to keep her comfortable. The doctors and nurses advised me of all available treatments, costs and timeframes in which the treatments needed to be done, while still being compassionate and caring to myself and my family. They did not rush me to make decisions, and allowed my family and I as much time as we needed to say goodbye to my baby Moxie. A nurse even sat with Moxie afterwards while I filled out paperwork; even though she was already gone she was not treated like a "dead animal", Moxie was treated with all the respect someone's family member should receive. I was highly disappointed with the service and recommendations at this vet, i have never been to a vet where they take the dog away to be examined or diagnosed. I found it extremely weird that i couldnt be in the same room. My mini dachshund was not herself last night and from what i could see it looked like a stomach ache. The vet couldnt find anything wrong with her, in fact our little pup was wagging her tail and following the vet around. Yet the vet strongly recommended to keep her overnight and run tests. A whopping $1300-1400 for her to sit in a cage overnight! We made the decision to take her home and after 4-5 her symptoms passed. Turns out she had a little stomach ache from some liver thin treats. So dissapointed that the vet made us feel so worried when it was such a simple thing. Money hungry vet! And i do not trust them one bit :(Read Less

My partner and I drove all the way from upper coomera with 2 strays that we found running down the main road, dehydrated and exhausted. When we got there we were told we'd have to wait and to take them for a walk (it was pissing down rain mind you) it was nearly too much to get a bit of water for them. Absolutely disgusting service. We waited for 30mins then took them to greencross vets up the road who took them in straight away no questions asked even though they were full. I highly recommend you DO NOT go there. Read Less

Was told my dog needed stitches to a cut in his leg. Quoted me $1,000. Decided to get it bandaged and have my regular vet look at it the next day (Monday). My vet said it didn't need stitches , washed it out and bandaged it again (they used a cheap bandage that came off in a day), and I paid $80. Read Less

When my little chihuahua x was deathly sick and I almost lost her... Twice.. The team at underwood, we're so sweet, understanding, supportive and helpful, They truly gave my baby the best care, to the point when I came in to see her everyday, I would usually find her in the arms of one of the reception nurses, who told me she hadn't really been in the cage out back all day, but sleeping in someone's arms and when she was able to come home everyone knew her by name. The vets discussed various options available to me and were sensitive to my limited budget. I felt as though they advised me well. The outcome was not so expensive and all was well.
