I was very happy with service. Carpark is small and cramped. There is one step up to enter the clinic which could be an issue for those in a wheelchair.

I have no issue with the Vets. The Vetinary Surgeons provide in depth informed choices. The Nurses and Reception staff are great. The previous owner was very compassionate and encouraged me to be with their pets when they euthanased my dog and cat. I held them while they went off to sleep. I didn't want them to die around strangers. I hope this mega Vetinary Clinic will allow the same. Read Less

Our wonderful little 3 yr old Maltese cross was diagnosed by this vet as having bladder stones. Very few options were given as they were clearly more interested in money than keeping your pet alive. I was told it would cost at least $1400 for the stones to be removed with no other options offered until I specifically asked for them and even them the Dr. was clearly not interested in saving our family member or in trying other solutions. We had to have our dog put down which was very difficult and traumatic for our family, especially our kids. It's such a shame that MONEY is all these guys care about. It is very clear they don't really care about your pet or your family here. I hope the grief of putting down peoples pets (for another huge $$ fee of course) stays with these so called Dr's because they are just greedy people. Read Less

Made the mistake of giving these people my email address. I'm not getting spam every few seconds. There are also cheaper, better vets in the Cairns area. Save yourself the trouble.

Service, pet care and education are qualities of this Vetinary Surgeon. (Don't go to Dr Lavers - he's a cold hearted vet towards animals.)

My first experience with this practice was when I adopted my cat from YAPS and they had scheduled him to get desexed at this vet. The nurse talked me through the procedure and even offered to cut my cats nails which I thought was great. My cat recovered quickly and was back to his usual playful self the following day. My second and final experience with this practice was very disappointing. There is no nice way to deliver the bad news that your dog has been hit by a car, but I think Dr. Lavers could've found a better way to say my beloved staffy didn't make it than simply saying ''he's dead''. He had asked me to come into the practice the following day so they can go through my options of what to do with his body. I mustered everything in me to visit the vet the next day since I just wanted to lay my dog to rest and mourn my loss but I was greeted by closed gates as they were closed for the public holiday. I was shocked with the news my dog has passed and was then shocked again when Dr. Sara called me up to inform me that I had to pay $350 for them to collect his body, I was confused considering she had told me he was dead on arrival so I couldn't understand why I had to pay so much. I was more than happy to pay something for their time, but that figure wasn't close to $350. She also informed me of all my options and the fees for burial and cremation. I tried calling her 5 minutes after I got off the phone to her because I wanted to discuss the fees further but my calls were not answered or returned. I called on Saturday and spoke to Nicola, I told her about how I didn't budget my puppy dying this week and I couldn't afford to pay the fee. She ran through the costs with me, $234 after hours fee and the rest of the balance was for Dr. Lavers travel costs/time (I live one suburb away from Earlville so I don't know why this ended up totalling $116). She said she needed to discuss this with Clare the Practice Manager and that I should call back on Monday after 9am. Nicola was very sympathetic and pleasant on the phone. I called on Monday at 9:05am eager to have this sorted and was very disappointed when Clare was completely unaware of my situation and I had to run her through the whole thing again. She also told me that I couldn't collect my dogs body until the account was paid. I asked if we could set up a payment plan where I would pay weekly and she said I could do this through PetSafe or something which is a loan company, I would have to pay 8% interest on top of the fees I was already charged. She ran through all the charges with me and it all didn't add up, there were costs like use of the van and Dr. Lavers time $90 etc. I was originally going to have my pet cremated and then Clare told me this was an additional $300 when I was told during my call with Dr. Sara that this was $215, after this I just felt like they were pulling figures out of the air and I lost the rest of the little trust I had for this practice. I ended up borrowing the money from my parents and they helped me collect my dogs body, Melanie assisted us when we went there and she was very helpful and dealt with my narky comments (I feel horrible about the way I spoke to her now, she was very kind - sorry if you see this!). Overall, I think my unpleasant experience with them could've been avoided if they put better payment options in practice. I will be continuing to use my current vet which is Cairns Vet Clinic on Pease Street. Read Less

Disappointed! We took our Labrador here because he was in pain. We told the vet Dr. Lavers we knew he was not himself because he gets excited and bounds around when we go for a drive but today he was still and whining. We also told him he had a 15 minute walk the day before because he was enjoying the cool day, 5 minutes longer than usual. We never saw the consult room, he gave us medicine and told us to bring him back if he was no better, not good enough when a dog can barely sit. Here is what this vet did that was disgraceful, he emailed us an overview of the appointment. He said we walked our dog against his will (the extra 5 minutes our dog pulled on the lead for) and said our dog was usually unruly (because he liked to go for a drive?) How dare he, I had someone there who heard my conversation with the vet and was also puzzled by his strange email. Maybe the email was to cover himself for not providing a proper consult we paid for.Read Less
