Do not call after hours in an emergency..Better still, find a Vet that hasn't forgotten it's about cherishing the lives animals, not the potential for profit each of their lives could mean. In 5 years, this place has lost it;s soul... 8.30pm 13/12/16 rang AH when my dog went from happy & healthy to instant lose of appetite & very sudden passing of blood, I suspected poisoning. Sounded like i woke the vet Peter Lynch & he clearly wasn't keen to open the surgery. Met him at 8.50pm his 1st comment "wagging his tail, that's a good sign!" Peter checked his heart rate & said "His heart's racing!" then he administered a large dose of Methadone and straight away told me to come back in the morning. I left within 8-10 minutes of arriving & this negligence is why I had to watch my friend die from a heart attack in the next few hours. Peter was not interested in my emergency, he just wanted to get home... It is not a surprise this vet hospital doesn't list Peter as one of their vets, but is happy to give him the after hours emergency phone. Spoke to this "so called" vet again the following night, hoping Kuranda Vet Surgery had listened to my concern about. the obvious negligence. They to obviously decided it wasn't worth addressing. Peter had the heartless audacity to say the next day, when he had instructed me & my then 'happy fury friend' to come back " yeah i thought he might die" & started rambling on about cancer. My friend was giving a clean bill of health in September, there was no cancer, just a retired livestock vet, whose experience holds this vet surgery responsible for allowing him to pretend to know how to respond in an emergency for domestic pets. They might greet you with a smile, but giving the emergency after hours phone to an old cowboy who couldn't care less about your family members says it all.. Show them the money or find a vet who cares about your family's pet... Read Less

Nurses and Vets are more than great. Absolutely caring people who take time to calm our loved ones before whatever they as experts have decided needs to be done. Very special people.
