We have been seeing specifically Lee, Ali and Liz for over 4 years now, and have been thankful for their service and care. I include Ali and Liz (vet nurses), because they have given us appropriate advice to arising issues over the years and have been nothing short of wonderful. These three women were so caring and sensible when it came to end of life care of one of our boys, even though we are out of catchment we still come back to see Lee, Ali and Liz. Read Less

The only negative part of moving interstate has been leaving this surgery. I've never felt dissatisfied with the level of care, or any of the diagnoses over the years we've been going here. I've always felt that they've listened to me, and care about my animals. And never judged me for being a little crazy bonkers about my babies. Genuine affection for their charges. Read Less

"Lee, thank you, you and your staff are helpful and caring, the best customer care ever" We have just moved to the area and I called a few local vets for a rough idea on dental surgery for my cat. Some quoted around $700-$800, rushed me off the phone, even the one we had been going to for over 10 years!!! I understand surgery is not cheap an appreciate business cost etc. So it is what it is....... I called Strathpine Vets and was not rushed on the phone, very polite and welcoming, I received an estimate from $400 to $600 depending on needs of the animal ( this can vary weight, time procedures etc) The receptionist was so friendly and caring, it made me feel comfortable to make a booking to see the vet and have a consult and actually discuss options. Was great to actually have more than a 3 min appt and feel like you know what to do, whats happening etc. Wow, Lee is amazing, over the last 20 years of vets this is the first time I didnt feel rushed and everything was explained so well, Lee took the time to make us feel so comfortable that I knew Zuess (13y) cat would be looked after really well.. Surgery was today and the cost was at the lower end and that included antibiotics and pain killers for my cat, which was great, but quality care ect worth so much more. When I called the time was taken to let me know how he was after surgery in detail, and when I picked him up, great instructions for after care and again the time taken with the animal and us was so great. We have taken our dogs to Lee for years and always found her and the staff to be very helpful and always friendly. My husband and I have been taking our 2 dogs to Lee at Strathpine Vet Surgery for the past 4.5yrs and are always so reassured and confident in the expert and friendly care every visit from Lee and her team! Even when I feel like I am overacting about my dogs symptoms, I am always reassured and made to feel comfortable and relaxed in my concerns! Lee takes great care of our dogs and us! We never have any issues making appointments, even when this presents challenges with our working hours and would not take our dogs anywhere else! I agree with Chopsie and Richard regarding customer service of the Vet who administered the microchip- well below parr and not friendly in the slightest! However, the receptionist/nurse(?) was lovely and very helpful. Read Less

I took my dog here to request urgent administration of an apomorphine injection ("vomit needle") as my dog had ingested suspect seeds within the preceding 45 minutes. There were no clients in the waiting room. My dog was not weighed. The vet on duty, who thought my male dog was female (!), duly administered the needle. She muttered something about "waiting" -- I didn't hear because she was talking as she left the room -- and then came back to tell us to go to the front of the building to wait for the vomiting, quite a reasonable request, just communicated a little poorly. The vet said there would be five vomits, and then we would be done. We went back in to the surgery after the five vomits, and they continued, another five times or so. I then paid the bill and was surprised that there was a full rate consultation fee, and an apomorphine shot considerably more expensive than what I'd previously seen for my dogs. The full rate consultation fee, which I'm sure the vet will argue was justified, was a bit of a whack in my view because no professional skill went into diagnosis or care plan: the client came in and asked for the shot, the vet delivered it. (In the past, I've observed vet nurses administer it.) So, while it's arguably justifiable, it was one aspect of the visit which means I will not be an ongoing client. I say "one aspect" because my dog's vomiting continued well into the night. Electrolyte drink was later required. My view is that too much drug was administered (remember the dog wasn't weighed), and that's why the drug charge seemed high to me -- it was more apomorphine than either of my dogs have ever received. No doubt there is a range for apomorphine administration, and this instance was simply at the top end. Upshot: my dog received what he needed, and then some; I felt burnt by the charge and won't return. ***My receipt states that it is from Strathpine Vet Surgery, 736 Gympie Rd, Lawnton 4501 (Dr Lee Dekkers), so yes, this review is about the correct clinic. As I look at the receipt again, I recall that my insurer expressed concern that your receipt format does not contain a receipt/invoice number -- something you might want to look into placing on your receipt so that it is satisfactory for formal purposes.*** Read Less
