New Farm Vet looked after our cat for several years while we lived in the area and we loved the personal care and experience at this vet. The entire team are very friendly and the advice or treatment we received was always in the best interests for our cat. We had a variety of regular checkups, vaccinations, teeth removal, grooming, even just a quick call to ask for advice was no trouble. They are reasonably priced and never made us feel like we needed to visit more often or the classic guilt trip into getting things checked ‘just in case’ like some other vets do to raise revenue. This vet surgery is fantastic, honest and caring. Thank you for looking after Merlin ❤️ Read Less

I am giving a 3 star because I don't want to discredit Sue. She is very intelligent, caring and professional without being over the top with diagnoses. I have had a very good experience taking my frecnhie there to see her. Although they do have limited knowledge about my breed compared to others I found. I found a vet that is very familiar with my breed and have substantially lower prices. New Farm vet is very expensive in comparison. Although there is another vet there, who, by what I've experienced is useless and not very accommodating. We took my frenchie there because he was a bit ill and vomiting. He poorly diagnosed him and just jabbed him with an expensive needle that had zero affect. It is like either A, he had no idea what he was doing, or B, just wanted to give him something that cost a fortune. We rung him back up to tell him the result and to ask what further could we do. He suggested to come back in. We asked since it was a misdiagnoses would we have to pay the consult fee again and he said yes. Sue would never have done that. So we were a little put off by them and tried another reputable vet. They immediately said he may have worms. Just give him a worming tablet and see. That's smart because it is common with this issue and a cheap harmless initial test to see if it is. Sure enough it was. Very quick, cheap and effective. They also didn't take advantage of us for monetary gains. So if you go, go to see Sue and no one else! But if you have a brachycephalic dog, particularly a sensitive frenchie I'd suggest looking elsewhere. Read Less

I wouldn’t go anywhere else. The staff at Central New Farm Vet are very knowledgeable, compassionate and caring. I recently purchased a food item from them when my boy had an upset stomach and they rang me the next day to make sure he was okay. My dog enjoys his visits so much that he stops at the front door and wants to go and say hello to everyone when I’m taking him for his daily walks. Read Less

This is a reliable vet surgery. My elder dog has had surgery conducted by the best surgeons from this practice! He also was looked after while he had a severe case of pancreatitis and they successfully treated it! It is important to have a pet insurance (ours is the Premium from RSPCA) because the rates from any vet are always exuberant and having a pet in Australia is expensive by all means. I truly recommend them! Read Less

I would not recommend taking any pet here. My experience was with a cat with severe constipation. I had previously taken her to this vet in November 2015 for the same problem and after a fee of over $1,000 and told to give my cat Benefibre with each meal the same problem re-occurred 3 months later. I was told to leave my cat overnight and the plan was to give her an enema in afternoon and again in morning to remove the impacted faeces. When I picked up my cat she was traumatised because the enema was given without an anaesthetic and only part impacted faeces removed. I was asked to bring cat back on Monday (2 days later) but decided to take her to another vet. Last time I was charged for 2 nights "hospitalisation" @ $65 per night when procedure can be done in one day. Charged $48 for 200 mls Duphalac which costs only $10 at pharmacy. RIP OFF surgery. I've lived in the new farm area for 7+ years, wouldn't take my pet anywhere else! Dr. Kim and Dr Sue Robertson have always looked after my cat as if he was their own. The staff and the Vets have a genuine passion & enthusiasm for what they do and it really shines through in their kind approach. They have always been there for us over the years, for phone advise, day stays/long stays & emergencies. My cat loves going on holiday at their sister branch at Nundah and always comes back happy! Nothings ever been too much trouble with their kind staff always very accommodating and kind to both me and my cat. Both Kim and Sue have offered knowledgeable advise that has helped us throughout the years in managing various conditions. They truly love animals and until coming to this vet id only seen vets be very clinical with my pets... I've actually seen Dr Kim, pick up my cat and give him a big cuddles. Its nice to know he is in good hands, relaxed and in a happy environment. Sounds cheesy but you can tell that he genuinely loves animals and I wouldn't want anyone else taking care of my cat until they had that same real passion, dedication and professional knowledge. I wouldn't hesitate recommending this practise.Read Less

I have been here three times with my cat. Each time I have been really impressed by the no-nonsense, clear advice I have received and the seemingly genuine care for the animals. Dr. Sue has taken care of my cat on each occasion and has been direct, reassuring and really clear in terms of what is required and what I need to do. That is exactly what you want when you are concerned for your furry person. I see them fussing over other folks pets with the same care while I am there. On each occasion the small furry man has responded well to treatment and been happy as Larry within a day or two. There is good follow up from the surgery and lots of more general advice is given during the consultation. Prices are reasonable (maybe they are really good? They don't seem high to me for that level of care anyhow) and are very good when you consider that your are buying a highly informed opinion about issues that are not always straightforward. And pet medicines are not on the PBL, so you have to expect them to cost a bit. Hell, this place is much better value than most professionals you will deal with. I would not hesitate to recommend this Vet clinic to anyone. If you are in the area and you are concerned about your animal then don't hesitate to try this surgery. This is what taking your pet to the VET should be like. Read Less

Do not recommend. Our dog had emergency surgery and we were told to take him to a vet 2 days later to have the stitches checked and the bandage changed. They replaced the existing bandage with something measly in comparison. When we took off the bandage, the gauze spong or whatever that was supposed to be over the wound had slipped down and was still like-new. It's as if it was never over the wound. Meanwhile the wound had bled and mingled with the top bandage and was damn near impossible to remove and was clearly unpleasant/painful for the pup. Will not return. Read Less
