Having picked up two stray kittens over the past 6 months and cityvet Chatswood hills being my go to vet. I thought I had great rapport with the staff. Both cats have had all their shots, checkups, and our first cat was de-sexed there. Overall I’ve spent well over $1000 in the 6 months I’ve had the pair of cats. Our newest one has been unwell for a couple of days and I called today to get her a checkup. I asked extremely embarrassed if I could possibly pay 24hrs later as we are slightly short on cash right before payday. We were told that unfortunately they would not see any animal without payment at the time. While I understand it’s a business and there are sure to be some unscrupulous people out there, surely a practice that cares about animals first and with customers that have outlayed a large amount of money over a short period of time there would be some understanding. I will never attend this or the Waterford branch ever again. Read Less

I writing this review angry and upset after losing my cat Sharnie who I had for nearly half my life. In my opinion these people do not care about animals instead only care about money. I would not take any animal I love there again. Twice a particular vet there misdiagnosed my animals. A couple of months ago I took my dog there cause she pinched a nerve in her back while scratching. The vet was wanting to do all kinds of tests, x-rays, etc (presumably to get more money out of me) saying the dog probably had a slipped or herniated disc or something and basically telling me that if I cannot afford these tests that I should consider putting her down. I was like I just want the medication to help the dog cause in no way did I think that was true considering how the pinched nerve happened. Anyway so they gave me the meds I gave them to the dog and the dog was fine a few days later. Next time my cat had trouble walking so I took her there. This was on Tuesday morning 29/08/2017 and I saw the same vet as with the dog. I told her about the cat, what happened the night before, that the cats stomach was hard, etc and she looked over the cat. The vet determined that she has arthritis in her back and that was the cause of the walking issues and the stomach was constipation. They prescribed some meds, a four week course of something needle related meds, and some cat lax and sent me on my way. Next morning the cat was worse than before so I took her back. Another vet looked at her and said it's probably something else and that we should run blood tests. I immediately said ok as I love her and would do anything for her. About forty-five minutes later the vet calls back and tells me my cat is in liver and kidney failure. The options are to do some type of $800 kitty dialysis or fluid treatment and hope for the best or put her down. Without thinking twice I opted for the dialysis. The vet said she'd do it and she'd call me back twice a day over the next few days to let me know how she was going and if the vet saw no improvement then I should consider putting her down. About three hours later the vet calls me back and tells me the cat isn't going to make it through the night and that I should go down there and say goodbye and put her down. I get there and the poor cat is lying there with her tongue hanging out of her mouth almost non-responsive. This was at six-thirty at night when they are closing up. We stayed with my cat for a while when the vet says oh she is struggling to breathe maybe it's time to say goodbye. How about you being the doctor you HELP the poor cat to breathe? I presume it was because it was closing time you wanted to go home so you wanted to get it over and done with ASAP. I took my cat in there, she didn't look too bad she couldn't walk all that well but in three hours she went from that to laying there with her tongue hanging out struggling to breathe. What did you do to my poor cat in that time? Also the blood tests cost $200 which is ridiculously expensive considering they do it in house on their own machines. It should be $20. And they probably charge the same for x-rays yet the vet did one "sneakily" for free as she put it. I don't care about the money at all, my point is that you have a vet who is charging lots of money for things where they could charge less and people would be more inclined to go ahead with these things. At the end of the day they should be there to help animals not build an empire. All I see at this place is money, money, money, no helping it's just an incompetent business that just wants to do simple neutering with unloving and uncaring vets. My Sharnie did not get the best treatment. I am devastated. RIP Sharnie the puss puss. Read Less

I love the staff at this vet, their compassion and heart sees through to all animals which is why I will always bring my babies here. Upon different visits I've seen different staff members and every one has been terrific to meet, they've helped me to say goodbye to those I love and are welcoming to the new that I bring in. Having a trusted vet like City Vet to turn to will always have me come back and recommend to any who are in need of assistance from those who truly care. Thank you! Read Less
