Two years ago my 6 year old Maltese went into have a vaccine, heart worm and teeth cleaned. She was due to be picked up at 1:00, they called me shortly before 1pm and said let’s move it to 3pm because she’s still groggy. I picked her up at 3:30 and she was still so groggy and shaky. Within a couple of days she had her “first episode” (now known to be a seizure). This Continued roughly every couple of weeks when I was able to finally get a recording I went back to the vet, I expressed my concern about it being related to her last visit, he was said no it wouldn’t be from that, if she had a bad reaction it would have happened then and there not days later. Convinced me it was most likely a brain tumour, she didn’t appear to have any pain so didn’t believe it was a spinal condition some little dogs can get. Told me I could get a mri but they were expensive and to just enjoy her while I had her. I did call around about getting an MRI done and it was between $2500 and $3000. My husband also really felt strongly it was related to her previous visit. We consulted a different vet who gave us so much information. Firstly he completely blasted the vets for 1) still recommending annual vaccines with the AVA has for several years recommended every 3 years 2) pumping so many toxins into a small 6 year old dog on the same day 3) implying that it couldn’t possibly be related to her cocktail of vaccines/heart worm And anaesthetic. He claimed it was toxicity, and I agree. 2 years on she still has seizures and her personality has changed, she previously was a very outgoing dog that loved the beach and dog parks, to now she is very anxious, and doesn’t like being out in public. We don’t know if this will affect her life span but it definitely has impacted her quality of life. I’m disgusted the vet lounge still push for yearly vaccines when it not what is recommended and studies indicate it is infact HARMFUL, but secondly they were dishonest and cagey about the situation. Very good and very expensive The Vet lounge us literally double the price of our normal vet in Southport. But you do get a lot of extras that you pay for course. Lab work and other testing is done on the spot. Read Less

We have been going to see Dr Michael Woodcock for many years and we have followed him from the surgeries that he has worked at until he opened his own Vet Lounge, he has the patience of a saint and is very caring and loves animals and has always taken the time to care for our pet just like it was his own. There holiday pet hotel is top class and if you are in the area just call in and see it for yourself the new renovations that they have done in 2016 are awesome and even though my kids look after my dog when I go on holidays if I didn't have them he would be going to the Vet Lounge as the accommodation is awesome and the staff are very caring and friendly. Over the years we have told all our friends about the Vet Lounge and they now take all there pets to see one of his many staff members. I have a sad storey to add today 28/2/2017 After 13 and a half years we had what we didn't but did know in our hearts was our final trip to see Dr Michael Woodcock who has been our little Bob's vet for his whole life. All I can say today with my broken heart is that Michael was one very compassionate man yesterday and he talked us through every detail of what was going to happen as we said pur goodbyes Michael comforted me and I am so ever great full to him and the staff behind him were wonderful and both my husband and I want to say a huge thank you. Truly genuine, caring and as they say affordable vet services on the gold coast - wish I had found them sooner -what you would expect from vets but sometimes hard to find . The only other vet practice that comes close is Samford Animal Hospital and their vet Dr.Leigh Hanlon . Have been taking my pets back there since moving to the coast and now although they too, are exceptional - don't need such a long drive with an unwell family member. They deserve all the awards they have received !! And will be taking our Maltese X dogs to The Grooming Lounge in Currumbin to support a great business. Read Less
