WOULDN'T RECOMMEND THIS VET. On holiday at Venus Bay, called the Port Lincoln Vet at 10am on Wednesday the 13th of July as soon as noticed my Boxer was feeling unwell. Was able to bring him in straight away. Everyone was lovely initially and didn't have to wait long for X-ray results. Vet was okay, wouldn't let me leave my Boxer's sheepskin blanket there which I wanted him to have as a bit of comfort/familiarity in a strange place. The vet was quite rude about it, that they have their own blankets and he couldn't be bothered with the hassle if it went missing. The vet was very informative by phone when my Boxer was able to be discharged in an hours time, though medical terms/big words made minimal sense to me. Not everyone is a doctor and understands medical terms. The call from the vet was made prior to picking my dog up. When paying, $576.99, the vet didn't even have the common courtesy to talk to me. I was hoping he'd be able to explain in terms I could understand what was going on. And I could see him in the next room so was well aware he was there and was happy to wait to no avail. Was handed medication with instructions from the girl on the desk. Was told they were antibiotics and antiinflammatories. I asked if he had been given an injection of both antiflammatories and antibiotics as a kickstart as it's faster into him than tablets. Was told no. I've never known a vet not to do this. The girl on reception was lovely, even wishing us a safe drive (on the way there prior leaving and on the way back when I left the clinic). Rang twice the next day, my Boxer wasn't improving. Booked him in to be desexed a few weeks later, on the advice this may help future problems and to bring him in after a few days if saw no improvement with current problem. Was dispensed on first visit 2.5 days of what I thought and was told were antiinflammatories, turned out they are pain killers. My Boxer was clearly still in pain. Made the trip to Lincoln today (Monday 18th July), called at 8:30am when opened. Was in Port Lincoln by 9am. Was 'promised' a call back that morning from the girl who took my call, saying she'd talk to the vet. Wanted a few pain killers to keep my Boxer comfortable whilst he was still very uncomfortable. No phone call as promised. I had to call back at 1:30pm. Still had heard nothing. Was told I could make a 3pm appointment with a different vet there, the girl making it very clear I'd be charged a consult but was no guarantee that vet would give my Boxer anymore pain relief. I was told I could drive to Ceduna to see the original vet possibly that day. A 4.5 hour drive!!! Told them not to bother with any future appointments. To cancel the desexing I had booked in for the 29th of July. FINALLY the vet my Boxer saw called at 3:24pm. He couldn't even remember and argued my Boxer didn't even have X-rays. Till he checked his records, which you'd think one would do prior calling. He did say he could see my Boxer in Streaky Bay on Thursday.. In 3 days. Bit late if there was a serious problem. Utterly ridiculous. Read Less
