The vet tried to emotionally play me into hospitalising a dog with a mild stomach upset for 24 hours for IV and all kinds of tests - saying "this is the gold standard treatment" at a starting quote of around $850!!! I said, "I'll just take the tablets and watch her at home, thank you very much". That was yesterday. This morning my dog is on the meds and just fine, and I'm about $725 richer. Read Less

They used to be great but over the last couple of years they've just become worse and worse. The last time we took one of our cats there they were really rough with him, to the point where he was terrified and basically ran into the cat carrier afterwards. Besides terrible pet care you can also experience rude staff, long wait times and hearing over and over about their stupidly over-priced "wellness" plan which the staff will tell you about again and again regardless of how many times you refuse. After months of treatment with cortisone for my cat, who had chronic asthma they told me she needed to use an asthma puffer and that she should not be on cortisone long term. We waited for months to get this and every time I rang to see if it had come in, the admin staff had no idea who I was or where it was at or even what condition my cat had. Several emergency visits later and all they could do was sell me anti-anxiety medication for her which again she could not tolerate. They could not offer any solution, other than to see the animal behaviourist and spend more on useless medication. My cat would not tolerate any of this at all and thousands of dollars later, she deteriorated to the point where we had no option but to put her to sleep. I was so traumatized by this that all they could offer me was a tissue! I have had zero follow up from them since the fateful day - no card, no call, no messages of condolences- NOTHING! My local vet (Wattle Park Vet) (who were unable to treat her serious condition) sent me flowers & condolences. Some weeks later, still traumatized, I received an email from the Magill Road Hospital directed at my cat with her name on it, wishing her a happy Easter! ......as if she was still alive!! Horrendous. Quoted over $2000 for a snake bite on my cat. Would not consider any other options other than the "premium care". Result, my little fella died there. Not only that, when they quoted their price I said I would take him somewhere else to see if I could get treated at a price I could afford. They refused!! They then charged me $300 for the "services" they had provided. I called my local vet (in the Adelaide Hills). He offers a 1/2 dose of antivenom for $180. In 8/10 cases thats enough to get the cat through. These guys may be good vets, I dont know, but they are prepared to watch an animal die rather than offer affordable treatment. I think the real highlight was when my sick dog was having an examination and the young assistant came out of his room cracking up laughing- having a good old banter with another young staff member and carrying on (in the examination room). Then the vet followed after her and informed me my dog had lost his fight and would need to be put to sleep. He's in there, literally fighting for life and some vet assistant can't even give him the respect and decency he deserved in his final minutes of life. That image will now stay with me forever- her loud shrill laugh, making me feel like my pet would be ok... I will never forgive their staff or myself for taking my beloved pet there as his last memory :( so disappointing. So incredibly insensitive in an intense time of grief. Read Less

Frankly it should be minus 1. Christmas Eve, booked appointment for cat @ 9:45am and saw vet at 10:35. Simple abscess behind ear needed lancing. Quoted $1100-$1400, left disgusted after paying $175 for the late consult and some antibiotics.Read Less

I was disappointed recently with the treatment from some of the vets at your prospect clinic. The first vet was negative and said my dog needed an X-ray to confirm diagnosis coz we don't know what it is. Where is her positivity f pets improving?? She said we will give her another week and then you should decide to put her down coz what life will she lead. Other one was slightly more positive and said she won't be able to ever walk again. Wanted me to keep going back every fortnight to tell me no improvement, didn't even take her temperature!! But got me to buy a bigger bottle of medication for inflammation. Decided to cancel appointment and wait for improvement and my dog is walking but wobbly. She has a great life now so imagine if I put her down?? I have been to another vet who said she is improving and might eventually walk properly just needs time. Said doesn't need medication and doesn't need an X-ray. Even squeezed her glands for free in front of me coz can do her job confidently. At your prospect clinic they take her to back to do it! Why? Fees should be cheaper to encourage people to look after their pets. At new vet it was cheaper and was busy place coz people happy with the service. The staff at Trinity Gardens were really lovely, thorough, caring and competent fixed up my cat today when he got a grass seed and ulcer in his eye. They were able to fit me in even though I rang in on the day on a Sunday, and I was very satisfied with the service, skill, and empathy. Would definitely recommend. Read Less

About 18 months ago, following a recommendation, I took a female rabbit to this vet clinic to be desexed. It cost over $400, which turned out to be three times more than other clinics. Had I known, I could have avoided being so massively overcharged. I have restricted mobility and the staff just watched while I struggled with the door and the carry cage. I also found the staff to be rude and unfriendly. I would never recommend nor return to this clinic. Read Less

PLEASE don't take your pets here - they prioritize creating billable procedures over your pet's wellbeing. Be especially wary of dental procedures/surgeries in particular - get quotes from other vets before booking your pet in here as they charge 2x the price of other places for the same procedure. A few months ago I took my cat here as all four of his fangs were swollen and I could tell he was in a lot of pain. The vet said he needed dental surgery to extract the teeth, and at least his fangs were likely to need extracted, but likely all his teeth. She sent us home with a quote for $1800 for a "Level 4" procedure, which she claimed was the "worst case scenario" and the most expensive procedure we might encounter. My husband and I thought about asking other vets for quotes for the procedure but figured that the max price difference would be a couple hundred at most, and we'd rather go with the people who had examined our cat already. Worst mistake I've made as a pet owner, unfortunately. Lesson learned: ALWAYS CALL AROUND FOR QUOTES, even if it's a veterinary procedure. Spoiler: multiple vets we called quoted us $1000 less than AAH charged us for the exact same procedure. Our cat went in for his operation, a nurse called us after a few hours and let us know that the surgery went great, there were no complications, the teeth came out "very easily" and that no X-ray was needed. They only extracted two teeth as opposed to all of the teeth. I later found out that most competent and well-trained vets will X-ray a cat's mouth before extraction because you can't see existing issues beyond the gumline without it. I brought my cat in to another vet for a second opinion after the procedure and they seemed shocked that, given my cat had a history of gum issues, this vet hadn't bothered to x-ray him and had only extracted two fangs, despite the fact that all four were swollen and quite obviously needed to be extracted at the least (which is what the first AAH vet told us at the initial exam). Imagine my further surprise when, despite the fact that we were given a "worst case, highest price" estimate of $1800 for a full teeth removal extraction which included an x-ray, we were charged MORE than $1800 for only two fangs to be extracted with no x-ray. The invoice even listed it as a Grade 3 procedure procedure as opposed to the more expensive Grade 4 procedure with all the frills. After some arguing and a lot of rudeness on the part of the people at the counter, a discount of $100 or so was given (without being noted on the invoice, leaving no paper trail of the original charge) as what seemed to be a "go away" discount. They also charged us for an ear cleaning that we did not agree to - to make it worse, ever since then, my cat frequently shakes his head as if he has an ear injury. He's never done that before. As mentioned, we took my cat to a different vet both for a second opinion and because my cat had post-op complications that AAH said they'd charge us to deal with (this felt like more extortion). We explained the situation we'd had with Adelaide Animal Hospital to the new vet and they seemed genuinely surprised and annoyed and recommended we contact the Veterinary Board of SA regarding the experience we'd had. She said she'd also never heard of the procedure being so expensive - her own practice would have charged us $850 for what we paid $1800 for. We were all concerned that my cat will need to have a second extraction in the near future to remove his remaining problem teeth - it's now been a few months and I'm facing needing to book my cat in for a second painful, potentially dangerous and pricey procedure to remove the remaining fangs. I think AAH expected this and were hoping to stick us with a bill for a second surgery, ignoring the pain and danger this would cause our cat. There's not really an alternative to this scenario that makes sense. All in all, I'm devastated for my cat and appalled with our experience. There's more to the story than I can fit here. A wonderful Vet practice and very supportive when a loved pet has to pass away when there's nothing that can be done and it's in the best interest of them . My beloved pooch Baxter & I had been together for nearly 14 years & unfortunately old age got the better of him & he became quite ill. We had to make the heart wrenching decision to put him to sleep & took him to Adelaide Animal Hospital - Trinity Gardens where all the staff involved were amazing. In particular Dr Cale Weston. He was very caring, thoughtful and understanding on this very sad day. We could not fault anything or anyone. A few days later, we then received a very touching card with a beautiful message inside along with a stamp of my dogs paw prints. This just brought me to tears. Read Less

Thanks to Dr Piri and nurse Stephanie who took care of our sweet girl boots yesterday! She went in for a dental with some extractions and received such wonderful care!
