First thing morning i had called the Adelaide Plains Veterinary Surgery with concerns about my German Shepherd who had just been there on Saturday for a slight skin irritation. I had woken up to find him bloated (doubled in size) throwing up and not eating. I knew immediately something wasn't right and wanted to get him in straight away. When speaking to the receptionist i explained the symptoms and asked her if this could be a reaction to his medicine or something more serious and she said that she would ask a vet and get back to me if it was anything to worry about and if not,to bring him in at 2.15pm for a check up. Unfortunately a few hours later he died. I didn't receive a phone call back from the receptionist, and am not sure she even asked the vet. I am extremely disappointed & concerned with the services provided by the receptionist and not even sure if she took my situation seriously. Surely the receptionists being the main contact for pet owners should be trained in recognizing life threatening symptoms and be able to know the difference between a fatal condition which would need to be treated immediately such as bloating compared to a reaction from medicine or a stomach bug.Read Less

I have nothing but praise for all staff. I took my loved 16yr old boy for a check up, only to find out he was in a lot of discomfort through his back & hind legs. We took him home with a few options. Ranging from chiro work to pain relief. After another couple of days home we decided it was time to say goodbye. He looked sad, slept most of the day, took his time getting up fr5on laying down & just wasnt himself anymore.
