My beautiful boy was diagnosed with cat diabetes over 12 months ago. After taking him to another vet when he was first diagnosed I took him to Pet Doctor Woodville. The vet Dr. Carr and staff have been fantastic. Sam had a blood glucose reader that is used on humans put on him by Matt a couple of days ago so we can get his sweet spot for his insulin. Sam had a blip yesterday where his blood glucose was dangerously low, checking his readings over an hour and phone calls the decision was made to take him in. Lauren was looking after us where we spent around an hour and a half in the surgery checking his scanner, taking blood pressure and his bloods. Feeding him anything he would eat, Lauren, Dr Carr and Matt were fantastic. I came home armed with information and different food to feed him to try and get his reading up. Within an hour his readings were increasing, he was a happy cat again! These guys are always busy and that’s because they have revisiting clients. I have never been in and had a bad experience, all the staff are full of knowledge and love each fur baby the same as the next. Read Less

Processes are lack of transparency, failed to conversation with pet owner. Pet vaccine service is good, but not recommended to stay in the hospital for examination. My pet started to have a high fever after desexing at this hospital, and no one notified me until I pickup him at 3:30 pm. The last message I received at 10:52 in the morning was: "Udon is doing very well and will be ready to be discharged this afternoon or early evening." They told me Urdon will be danger if he don't stay in hospital. I thought that might be a stress reaction because Urdon starting calm down when I stay with him. But she still insisted on keeping him in the hospital. After consulting their opinions, I agreed to let Udron stay in the hospital for observation. At the time they told me that the cost will be $250, and did not notify me of any additional costs. When i pickup Urdon, the hospital fee become $781.3($626.3 hospital fee + $155 male cat desexing + microchip). I did asked politely for the billing details so many times, but no one responded to the question. They didn’t inform me of a lot of charges in advance and they keep asked me to pay unreasonable fees, otherwise they refuse me to take Urdon back. After many conversations, their response like robbers made us angry. She said she is very busy now, and if you left it to tomorrow, they will charge more. Regarding our doubts, she chose the way more like a moral coercion and told us that she was very good to my pet and we should be contented. Rude to my girlfriend and hung up her call. The cause of Urdon's fever was not found at the end. Urdon’s fever was confirmed to be a stress reaction. His fever subsided that night at home, and he had a fever again when he returned to the hospital for follow-up checking. Read Less

BEWARE ... I have going to this Pet Doctor for nearly 10 years now with our dog, and it used to be a great place to take your pet for vet care with a friendly smile and eager to help your pet, but unfortantly the veterinary doctor that used to work there has recently retired. Now there is a new young veterinary doctor that works there that seems to me like all he is worried about is money, since he took over all the pet medications have nearly doubled in price, his Consulting Fees have rockrted sky high, and with the older veterinary doctor he used to give you a part payment program if you had problems paying for the vet bills. Which this new veterinary doctor basically told me I need to bring my dog in twice a year, even if the dog does not need to go to the vet, to get vet care from him, and when I asked why bring your dog to the vet if there is nothing wrong with the dog, then he reply to me it is by law now that you have to bring your dog in twice a year. What a load of hogwash, I have now introduce our dog to a different veterinary, which has much lower Consulting Fees and much more friendly service then the so call Pet Doctore ? I am giving 4 stars, but realistically it depends on the Vet you see as to whether they deserve 5 stars or 1. The staff here are usually lovely. They answer all my questions and are friendly and reassuring. Unfortunately they sometimes have visiting vets who may be less good. One of the visiting vets misdiagnosed my 3yo cat's early stage kidney failure as dental problems. It was easy to miss, but still so heartbreaking. The vet nurses and Dr Carr understood my anger, and took my feedback seriously. They and did their best to help me and my cat during her final days. I still trust them completely with my other cat, but I will definitely want to make appointments with a specific doctor in the future. Read Less

Please do NOT bring your animal here if you want it to be treated with respect regardless of its age or condition. Depending on who serves you at the front desk, the staff can be very friendly and helpful or rude and somewhat impudent. The clinic rooms look old and outdated and they're quite dark. We saw three doctors in total and none of them was compassionate towards our pet or passionate about their job in any way. Long story short, they suggested/urged to put our senior cat down after operating on him without even doing blood tests or anything to determine what's going on in his little body. (They said it's not worth it) We went to another vet clinic to get a second opinion and after an afternoon of testing and inspecting our cat she came up with actual results and ways to treat its condition. This was in early December. Now it's mid March and our cat is alive and well and we will never return to the pet doctor again. (Woodville pet doctor disabled their review option on their Facebook page after they got too many bad ratings.) It really felt like they were just money hungry and also quite incompetent. We never spent more than a few mins with each vet because they just seemed bored, annoyed and very biased. The slightest inconvenience seemed to bother them (cat with congested nose) and I still cannot believe that they wanted us to put our cat down because he was sick - without even offering ways to treat him. Instead they just said there's "nothing that can be done" which is clearly wrong. Read Less

My 2 year old cat stopped eating completely suddenly, Pet Doctor took almost a week to diagnose her with kidney failure and only gave her a blood test the THIRD time we took her back, only checking her temperature and sending her home each time. By the end of the week she had lost half her body weight, but we had booked an appointment to come in the next morning. As it was Mother's Day and on a weekend with traffic around, we were literally only five minutes late (not even) and the head vet threw a fit at us and refused to even check up on my dying fur baby. There was also NO ONE ELSE waiting and around 5 vets not doing anything, so being too busy was not an excuse. We took her to another vet the day after to have her checked but she was so sick she was off the scale of being able to measure her kidney function. I had to have my two year old fur baby put down after only having her for just over a year. Definitely would NEVER subject a pet I love to that ever again and wouldn't recommend anyone else to either!!!Read Less

Woodville Pet Doctor have been the most supportive vet for our not for profit, 100% volunteer based rehoming and rescue organization, Paws and Claws Adoptions. We have been lucky finding such an amazing team of vet nurses, who always, whether the pup/kitten is a pain in the butt or not, NEVER forget to tell each of our foster carers just how awesome our little foster buddy is! Its hard fostering animals - its like parenting... am i doing this right, am i doing that ok? No matter when i call, how busy i can see/hear they are - they will always ensure that they give me all the advise i need. All the support that they can provide - all the genuine emotional support i need. Its not just about the medicine - but also about their care, devotion, and their unending smiles. You all know me well by now - im probably your most annoying customer... but you are the most amazing, genuine group of girls i have met! I couldnt do what i do without you all! XxxRead Less

We could not be more disappointed with vet Dr Carr and the practise at #petdoctorwoodville. My mum's cat Xena is 17 years old and was born at home with my mum by her side, she is my mum's baby. Sadly, Xena has been suffering for the past week she suddenly went off her food a week ago, is now in excruciating pain, has been throwing up bile so my mum made the tough decision last Friday to have her euthanised at home. Mum thought she would try her local vet Dr Carr at petdoctorwoodville and she spoke to her a girl on the phone who reassured us (promised us in fact!) that a vet would be here between 12-3pm, and that they would call 30 minutes prior to him arriving. My mum asked the girl again, can you please confirm no matter what happens someone will be here, she said yes. 2pm comes around and my mum asked me to call the vet to see what time it was looking like they were going to come around. It was then that we were told that 'I'm sorry but our vets are too busy now and we won't be coming around'. My mum has spent the last few days preparing for this moment she has to put her baby to sleep and to be told so coldly that the vet won't be coming now is just very disappointing. The lady put my mum on the phone to Dr Carr the owner of the practise and his comment was just bring her in, we'll put her down' and im sorry I've got more important things to do'. My mum begged Dr Carr to come out and after much convincing he said ok fine we'll come out but it will be an after hours call out fee (which mean't he was going to charge us a fortune for their stuff up) We could not believe what we were hearing, we never knew a vet could be so heartless and clearly not understanding of how emotional this time is for us and not to mention the suffering Xena our cat was experiencing. After being let down so badly today we are very grateful for people like vet Marie De Lint who has offered to help us out at the last minute to ensure our poor Xena is put to rest in a comfortable manner and in her own home. Marie specialises in this service and it is clear that she has a beautiful heart and is very compassionate about animals. Thanks for coming to the rescue #letmego4pets #lostdogsofadelaide Read Less

Nice big air conditioned space with plenty of room in the waiting area so you don't feel too confined, and there enough room to wag your tail if you're an optimistic pooch. Doctors Turner and Carr get my vote because the see themselves as pet Doctors, and that shows they are concerned with the health of the animal you call your own... or you call yourself the owner of. There are all sorts of treats you can purchase here from soft toys to pet health insurance, and there's parking on site which is always a very good thing if you are transporting sick animals or taking groggy ones home after having the variety of things one has when one is a domesticated pet.The weekends are often busy, and the closing hours are a little flexible, so while there's a later start on both Saturday and Sunday, and it may be that the day is extended a little, you're always best to actually call ahead and make an appointment, or check there is someone there if it is an after hours emergency.

I can not express in words how overwhelmed I am at the moment. Everyone at the Pet Doctor were very helpful but I must point out one person in particular, Lauren, what an amazing, kind hearted, caring and compassionate soul you are! You went above and way beyond for me when I really needed it after my Tessie had major surgery on her back leg and I will forever be grateful for it. Not only did you help to ease Tessie's comfort, you helped to reassure me that she'll be okay. Your knowledge and passion is endless and that shines through your beautiful nature. I would highly recommend your clinic to everyone! I cant thank you enough for the great conversation we ended up having so in saying that I feel that thank you will never be enough Lauren.
