Although the wait times here can be...well some what ridiculous at times; this is still the only place i will take my pets. Great staff who are always really helpful and friendly. They take great care of our animals and have really put themselves out for us at times of need. Dr Sue was the only Vet that knew what was wrong. She was kind and compassionate. She/ we tried but. Our girl had some sort of neurological accident. After a week long fight it was time. Dr Sue was there. Highly recommend Mcivor Rd Vets. Seems to be a vocation. Coming back to Bendigo after QLD - 3 furries now. Thanks Dr Sue and see you soon. My puppy was meant to have an X-ray at 8 o'clock in the morning and I was supposed to pick her up at 4pm once the anasthetic had worn off, I was told to not give her any food after dinner or in the morning before coming in. After work i went to pick her up approx 4.30pm and they told me she hadnt been seen yet, she had been in the cage all day with only water because it was very busy. Not only did they not call me during the day to say that she hadn't been seen did I want to reschedule so she could go home and eat, but the lady at the reception told me that" DOGS CAN GO WITHOUT FOOD FOR 3 DAYS, SHE IS FINE". Yes dogs can survive without it but it does not mean that she has to and quite frankly it is up to me as the owner to decide whether I want her to go through that. Completely shocked and disgusted at the service provided. I decided to pick her up after it was completed as she had already starved all day I didnt want her to go through that for nothing. I was told no later then 8 oclock it would be completed. I was called and picked her up that night and was told of the bad news that she has elbow dysplacia, I then decided that I would foot the bill and get surgery done at another place in melbourne that can complete it. The receptionist told me that its a waste of money and if it was her dogs she wouldnt. Honestly thought a vetinary clinic would employ people who love and care for animals. The only positive was the vet SUE who apoligised for the delay and explained to me my options for my puppy and also gave me numerous numbers of other vets to contact, she was extremely helpful and improved my experience however the impact of the other people working there has completely turned me off. These people are amazing - we recently lost our beautiful dog Jemma. She was in Sue's care all her life who always gave her exceptional treatment. When we finally had to say goodbye to Jemma, the vet Amy met us at the clinic in the middle of the night. Her compassion and care of Jemma was exceptional, everything she did she explained to us. I lost my beloved Oscar about two hours after arriving from Adelaide for his breeder's wedding. He was flat. I took him to my breeders vet - no-one and could not have asked more of Sue and her team. They were so professional and caring and called back when things were dire. Ossie got to take his final breaths in my arms which was so important to both him and me. Thank you so much. Ossie was 13.
