My daughter found a young dog at the local park who had no identification. Accordingly, we contacted Boroondara Animal Park Hospital and requested that we bring the dog in to establish if she was ‘microchipped.’ Upon arrival the Vet came to the front door & without so much as the courtesy of thanking us for possibly saving the dog’s life she began to take off our collar and said ‘we will take care of this.’ I asked if the dog could be tested for micro-chipping and she quite rudely said ‘no’ and explained that the dog would be immediately handed over to the local council ranger & would end up at the RSPCA. I expressed my dissatisfaction with her attitude and her unpreparedness to check the dog for microchipping in my presence, as I was very keen to know if it would be returned to its home. The Vet showed a complete lack of empathy and effectively ordered me out of the clinic, offering no acknowledgement of my feelings nor my interest in the dog’s welfare and stating that we had ‘no rights’ in this matter. When asked, she refused to provide her name. I found her attitude to be totally unacceptable and would caution anyone who was considering using this clinic. This woman was aggressive, uncaring and lacked any type of professionalism or the kindness that you would associate with a person who works with animals.
