Had my dog desexed here - he’s a 12 month old Pomeranian
Was sent home without any medication for pain relief or inflammation - was told that they need to feel something so they don’t try to bite the area.🤷🏻♀️ once the pain relief from in the anaesthetic wears off.
The next day he was visibly distressed, panting, in obvious pain and discomfort - tried calling them several times - no answer. Called other vets throughout the morning who could not assist but confirmed that based on the what I told them he would be in need of pain relief and they were very surprised that I wasn’t given anything to take home. I had to take him to an emergency service who immediately administered
Pain relief and provided some to take home.
I contacted the vet that performed the procedure on Monday morning, outlined the events of the weekend and asked them for reimbursement of the costs I incurred - my dog suffered unnecessarily and I had to pay $200+ for emergency assistance because they failed to provide adequate care.
The response was also inadequate - repeating several times how long they’d been in business and how many dogs they’d desexed - no concern shown for the distress caused. Not to mention the aftercare story completely changed from what we had been originally told.
In hindsight I suppose I should have been concerned last Friday when a dog left the surgery dripping blood across the floor and had to be taken back in - his owners left without him - at least his problems were known before they got him home.

I have no doubt that over the years Derrick has been a great vet and he seems like a very nice man. But, he said my puppy had a sprain and when she was still unable to weight bare the next day and yelped in paid we took her to the vet hospital to find out she had 4 broken bones. Devasted that my puppy went the whole night with such pain and that I trusted this man with her. He should have X-rayed her, an error that should never have happened. My advice is to go elsewhere!!!! Time to retire.

I took my dog to my local Keilor Veterinary Clinic due to having a painful ear. The vet proceeded to stick a large cotton bud into both ears to check for discharge. During this procedure my dog squeal...
I took my dog to my local Keilor Veterinary Clinic due to having a painful ear. The vet proceeded to stick a large cotton bud into both ears to check for discharge. During this procedure my dog squealed. He then administered and recommended ear drops. Some days later I noticed my dog had almost completely lost her perfect hearing and has never recovered. While I cannot be certain the vet damaged my dog's hearing with the cotton buds, I have my suspicions and do not trust his judgement. Needless to say, we now go the the Bacchus Marsh Veterinary Clinic where Sandy offers unbeatable service.

Bad first impression will last for over a century. Was looking for small and personalised business however when arrived there with an emergency, I find out that there was no vet present. The front end staff was not willing to help about when he or she was going to arrive but tell me to come back in an hour or so. I was then carrying a dog that had his hind legs paralysed. Took the dog to the Brimbank Vet whom helped extremely well. Poor first impressions.

I have no doubt that over the years Derrick has been a great vet and he seems like a very nice man.
