Lilydale Vet did a very good job looking after our cat. He was ill on new year's eve and luckily they were open and able to take him in and get him sorted quickly. It was an expensive visit but considering they had to look after him news years eve and day it was worth getting our cat back who is now happily at home. Thank you. Read Less

I've taken my dog here for just a stomach pump which was quoted at $640 and we paid $320 as the down payment. The actual cost came to $1400 (minus what we paid). That is appalling and I don't know how someone could just double the price like that. Dr. Reiner was also extremely rude. I have never been so horrified and furious before in my life. Sunday morning at 4am our dog got into a handbag and unfortunately ate some Nurofen. We realised within half an hour and called an emergency vet in Lilydale as our vet wasn't open and were told "we suppose you could bring her in". We went in, I filled out some forms and the guy said it would cost around $640 and we had to pay $320 (50%) before they would take her. Okay, this is our pet so of course we paid it. Over the next day and a half we were frantic. They kept saying they would let us know but we had to keep calling and calling them. Then today they tell us she can come home and we ask on the phone if it was going to cost more than what was quoted. (We needed to get the money together). They told us there would be no extra charge. We went in to pick her up and they give us an invoice for $1,300. We explained we had been told something else and so another vet came in who proceeded to wave forms in front of my face and tell us that we had signed for it. On the paper it said "640-1000". I argued that it hadn't said that when I had signed it (I had been worried about the money, I would have noticed if it had said 1,000). The vet proceeded to become condescending and rude, telling me to be quite and that they were not giving us the dog until we paid. He pointed at printed sections of the form and smugly asked if I thought they had changed that too. I have never, ever been spoken to that way before and he made it clear that he thought I was just some silly girl who couldn't prove anything. We asked if if we could pay the majority and organise the rest later in the week once we got paid. He said no, they were keeping the dog. I was upset and frantic and eventually stormed out and left the others to deal with it. We had to call a relative to ask for the extra money and then were told we were not allowed to return. I can not believe that this place is allowed to operate. I know it is extremely illegal for them to have changed things after I signed and I am furious at myself for not getting a copy or photo but I didn't think this was possible for a place that was supposed to care about animals. On top of this, they charged almost $200 more for the time I filled in the forms. Plus the first vet had said there were some things double charged but he told me I was rude and nothing had been double charged. I will never ever be going back to this place. Read Less

Any person who rates this pathetic excuse of a vet more then one star must would have to work there or be related to the F***wit!!! i tell u my experience... from slamming the door shut in the vet room calling me f***** feral excuse of a human getting in my face screaming at me because i told him he is a rip off and cant carry out work on my dog with out my authority, i go in quoted $800 and leave paying $1700 bcoz extra meds were needed 'just incase' only reason i payed just to get my boy back in safe hands!!! I work in the car industry - imagine taking ur car in for a minor service quotes $300 come back u owe $1400 because we did all 4 tyres, brake pads and rotors 'just incase' garaunte he wouldnt pay it. Not only that, im told it was gastro but yet he couldnt poo or barely breathe, i pay blood test ultra sound xrays IVF $500 for meds for gastro really? But u cant prescribe a human with anything when we have it!! Oh yeh and to top it off not only did he insult me he also had the balls to say all us Aussie's are criminals, yet you move to OUR country and come steel OUR money at ur BANK ur running!!! And then as im there paying over double my quote just to get out of the hell hole, he stands close to my face smiling, i advised him to move away and he says " no, i get to much enjoyment watching this money getting taken out of your bank account" with a big grin on his face, i told him where to go and he then brings my dog out who went in emergency for struggling to breathe, projectile vomiting, drooling and he's pulling him through with a choker on with his front feet barely on the Ground. I've taken my 3 British bulldogs An my cats here for years but after today never again money hungry people . I had my bulldog there last week for her leg $640 with a follow up app on Tuesday her leg has gotten much worse so I called to see if we could follow up today instead of Tuesday but wanted to charge me $140 for today but Tuesday would of been a free follow up .i have spent thousands of dollars at this vet . So today we went to another vet not only have wrongly diagnosed my dog for a start her leg is a mess I will never come back there again .You might want to try consider not being so money hungry I know we all have to run a business but you don't get anywhere not being good to your regular customers. Was horribly shocked by the cost - they itemise absolutely everything rather than charge what would be considered reasonable for time, effort and materials used. They also over-charged us on both the occasions we have been here. When I arrived with what was a relatively urgent case, the lack of care was quite astounding; eg. as nothing was on offer I had to give water to my dog from the fish tank. There are lots of vets in the area; I suggest you try somewhere else first. Read Less

I don't normally leave reviews, but after my wifes experience here I felt the need to let other people know. Absolutely appalling. If I could leave 0 stars I would. My wife took our dog here for only a small problem, an ear infection, which she has had problems with all her life. We accept this, know how to treat it, and just required a course of antibiotics. We only went here because we were unable to get into our regular vet at a time that was convenient for us this week and didn't think it would be a problem. How wrong. If you are going to charge people for things outside the normal consultation fee YOU NEED TO TELL THEM!! When my wife questioned the invoice, (nearly $200 to basically get a course of antibiotics, for a problem we are aware of, have had before and know how to deal with) the vet removed one extra uninformed charge. My wife indicated that she was also not prepared to pay the other charge that she was not informed about. That's when it got nasty. The vet got angry with my wife questioning the charges, and asked my wife to give back the antibiotics she had just been given, and then went to snatch them out of her hand. She then made accusations about how we care for our pets, which is utterly insulting. We don't have kids, our pets are our children and we love them to pieces. The vet then told my wife that she would waive the invoice entirely, and that she was never to come back. What sort of vet takes back prescribed antibiotics from a sick animal?? One that doesn't truly care for your beloved pet. All I can say for this vet is that they were lucky it was my wife who took our dog in, and not me, it would have been a lot uglier. If you consider going here have a good hard think. This vet is a rip off merchant. There are no phone calls or consultation regarding treatment or price and they do what they see fit. They wont show you the running cost until the end and before you know it you are up for thousands. The staff are rude and dont care about the owners thoughts. They tell you they are specialist vets. Dr Renier is amazing. For 8 years we were told our dog had a dominance problem. After going there for the first time he discovered a back and neck problem. We now have a different dog who goes to will actually go to people for a pat. Never going anywhere else. All the staff are amazing as well.Read Less

Our Staffy-X recently experienced a ruptured gall bladder on a Saturday evening. From the very start Renier and Miranda were the best - caring, understanding, and communicating with us everything that was going on. After emergency surgery, and 3 weeks of intensive 24-hour care by the team at Lilydale, we have our loved Staffy back at 100% living and loving his life. Renier and Miranda fought to save our dog as hard as our dog fought to survive, even when the specialist were telling them they were fighting a loosing battle. We could not have asked for more. These vets are amazing. I first went there 2 years ago for their puppy socialisation program (which is the best program ever), and we've gone ever since. Miranda and Renier feel like part of our family. They know us and our animals so, so well, and we feel 100% that they will care for them as if they're their own pets. They really seem to go out of their way to look after our animals and make sure they have the absolute best care, are realistic in their expectations for returning to health, and are always more than happy to answer any questions or concerns by panicked dog-owners over the phone without making you feel like you're silly for calling. ;) We have recently moved to Pakenham, but have already travelled the 2 hour round-trip to get our boy desexed up there with them.
