I had a fantastic experience here recently, all the staff were fantastic and whilst I didn't really want to spend $3.5k, the price was similar to what my brother paid for the same surgery for his dog

Vets and staff are great. I find it a little bit pricey and we always get a different vet (although ive never thought to ask for a particular vet). But they always take good care of our little Teddy

I recently took my dog in to the Bellarine Vet Clinic in Newcomb with a small cut on his paw to have it disinfected and dressed. The vet that saw my dog agreed that disinfecting and bandaging was all that was required. She disappeared out the back and to my surprise returned with a quote for a $600 surgery which required a general anaesthetic. The vet explained that this decision was made by another vet out the back, who had not seen the dog.
It would seem that this second vet (who I still had not seen) had a financial interest in the business. She was willing to risk the life of my dog and put him under a general anesthetic, without even seeing the dog or his paw. How had she come to this conclusion? This diagnosis and proposed surgery seemed extreme, so I decided to take my dog to get another opinion.
I have since sent photos of the paw to 4 other practicing veterinarians (friends) and they are all shocked and disgusted that the vet recommended surgery at all, let alone without viewing the wound first.
This is gouging, and it’s frankly appalling. To risk the life of an animal to make a few hundred dollars.
I wrote a letter to the clinic addressing my concerns and asking for an explanation and they didn’t have the decency to respond. After 2 weeks I decided to contact them again and they called me back only after I mentioned I was going to write a review.
They did not offer an apology. Just a refund of the $90 consultation.
I’m not a serial pest who leaves nasty reviews to pass the time. This is honest and factual.
The clinic (on this occasion) showed an absolute lack of judgement. The vet who made this decision was clearly not thinking about the animal, she was thinking about the business.
The receptionists and the first vet I met were really lovely and obviously love animals. It’s unfortunate that the senior vets & management are making the decisions and they have proved that they don’t care about animals, and that they don’t care about retaining customers. It’s just a business to them, and one that I cannot recommend to people in Geelong looking for a vet.
The wound actually had fully healed after about 48 hours with some disinfectant and rest. Read Less

It's close and it's not just about the money, they really care about the animals. Dr Ewan is fantastic. A big thank you to him.
