As we should expect when it comes to our veterinary practices, staff are kind, professional and happy to take the time out to help explain any concerns you may have. However we have major concerns with their business practice in general having had tests conducted on our puppy without our prior consent, and in our absence. During our most recent consult, there was absolutely no discussion on what tests might have needed to be done with our puppy nor was there any moment we were asked if it was ok to proceed with any tests. Having the vet himself tell us our puppy had a predisposition to allergies, then to proceed with testing of any sort without the owners permission is absolutely unecceptable. This was not the first time communication failed with it resulting in a profit for the business. We had signed up to the 'best of pet' membership and have been very disappointed with the general strategies used in order to achieve further profits such as conducting unapproved tests on our puppy without permission nor clarity on costs. Reassuring us that you will take care of our pets and do what's best is necessary, it's not a strategy to implement in order to make profit off vunerability. You must ask permission of owners, be transparent and informative and offer absolute clarity on costs associated with consults or professional services. As you have failed to perform those duties, we will look elsewhere for our services.

Doctor Mel is super nice, you can tell she genuinely loves animals. That's the whole reason I've been taking my fur kids to this vet despite of high charges.
However a recent experience really put me off: I arrived a bit early for my bunny's vaccine. While I was waiting, I felt I wanted to go to bathroom. So I asked one of the nurses if I could use their bathroom. She said no. Then I asked if I could leave the bunny there for vaccine while I go find a bathroom. She said no, they are not responsible for the pet. Then I said, let me take the pet and I will go find a bathroom. She said no, in that case she wouldn't be able to guarantee the appointment because she doesn't know how long I will take and they are fully booked. I was about to cry at that point, seriously. In the end, the vet quickly vacinned the pet and I left.I don't know if I will ever step into this place; they might have their own policies, but the level of inconsideration, lack of willingness to assist and lack of sympathy really astonished me. I'm sure my departure won't mean much to the clinic as they are fully booked anyway.

The staff at Swan Street Vet are incredibly caring, generous, helpful and extremely knowledgeable. The level of customer service, care and treatment provided is always amazing and of the highest standard and quality. They provide constant invaluable communication and informative advice on issues. Their concern and frequent follow up phone calls to check on progress is greatly appreciated. Their service definitely does not stop when you leave the appointment. I strongly recommended this vet! Thank you for always taking such good care of my fur baby.

I have been bringing my cats here for about a year. Recently they recommended a full under-anesthetic dental scale and polish for mild gingivitis, quoting me $500 per cat ($1k for both). When I brought the cats to another clinic for a second opinion before surgery, they told me my cats' teeth were not anywhere near bad enough for dental surgery and that I had been misled. In the end, all they needed was an antibiotic injection and a teeth scrape - all done in under 10 mins and cost only around $100 for both cats. I am leaving this here so that other clients will know to seek a second, third, or even fourth opinion before committing to expensive procedures that may very well be unnecessary.
On the flip side, the staff are always friendly and warm here. They are also good at helping pets feel comfortable and relaxed. But in view of the upselling and high costs we will probably find another regular vet.

My dog recently had surgery at the lovely Swan St vet and I was SO chuffed with the service from end to end. At my initial consult I was welcomed as a new client and the reception; nurses and vet Dr Catalina were all so lovely and caring and affectionate toward my dog. On the day of surgery the vet Dr Catalina was so patient with me. She set my expectations on costs, took me into the area that my dog would be housed; receive pre op treatment and showed me the operating thea...ter. It was all extremely clean and sterile it really put my mind at ease. After surgery the nurses sent me a lovely email with a picture of my dog saying she was happy and recovering and the Dr Catalina called me to explain things had gone well. On discharge they gave me a file explaining what my dog had been through; what the medication I'd received would do to her and how to perform her aftercare routine. I even called them a few hours after getting home as my dog was whimpering and the lady on reception tracked down the operating nurse; checked the meds my dog was given in her op and explained everything to me. I cannot fault the service at Swan St vet and while it might be a little higher in price I would highly recommend using them for piece of mind and a great stress free service for your fur baby. Staff are always so friendly and helpful. I showed up without an appointment after my dog had suddenly couldn't walk on her back leg at the park and they were so calm and supportive and were able to see my dog as soon as possible. I'm sure appointments are preferred but I was so impressed (and grateful) that they were able to see us so quickly!

Like many of the reviews, I agree this is a lovely facility with super friendly staff. Also like some of the reviews, I find them extremely expensive and quick to up-sell. Have been coming here since they opened, although have been fortunate to have limited visits with thanks to well looked after pets. A recent visit for a minor concern cost way more than it should have. I felt as if my concerns over cost and treatment process were not considered, just faced with consistent efforts to explain why they focused on everything else I could spend money on with them rather than the issue at hand.

I've recently moved into the area and I have a 17 and a half year old cat. She is a diabetic so before they hand over any medication they are in the process of doing a full health check. They've been able to trim her nails, remove an old nail that was imbedded in one of her paw pads and take some blood all without having to sedate her. Sedation at her age is a big risk. Dr Alex and the team are amazing, I'm so happy with their duty of care, compassion and professionalism. Really great vet, full of knowledge and keen to help you. My kitten loves getting into the car, as he knows where he is going and loves being spoiled by everyone at Swan Street Vet. We had a situation where a particular charge wasn't explained properly. When they realised there was a miscommunication, they were quick to rectify it for me, which I really appreciated. So, not only are they full of useful information, they are also great to deal with. Highly recommend trusting your fur babies with Swan Street Vet.

I recently had my cat stay in a cat condo at the Swan Street Vet. She's an older cat who didn't take too kindly to the last cattery i put her in for an overnight stay. I was so pleasantly surprised at how well she did this stay. The cat condos are fantastic value and stress free due to the way they're set up. The staff were so friendly and very patient with my concerns going into the stay due to the previous experience i'd had. I will have no hesitation in having McKenzie stay there again. Thank you to the staff from McKenzie and I. My fave part (apart from picking her up) was the cute little report card they gave me after her stay detailing her stay. Thanks Swan Street Vet! Swan Street Veterinarians are the perfect team for people who treat their pets like family. Our rescue dog is highly anxious, and unfortunately reacts with aggression towards vets. The all female team have been so understanding and patient, never forcing Franky to do anything. They are conscious of trying to create new, positive vet experiences for animals, even encouraging "happy visits" where you just go say hi and get some treats. Recently Franky had to be sedated for treatment on his injured hind leg, and they even sent me a private Instagram video of Franky waking. Such a perfect gesture for a very worried fur Mum. If you want a vet to treat your fur child like family, this is the place.

The Swan Street vet team have been absolutely fabulous so far. I'm new to Richmond, and have a new little cat who has had a rough background and needed a number of procedures to get her ready for a fresh start at life. I have found all of the staff at SSV to be so friendly, helpful and professional. Their facilities are clean and really well set-up. They have an operating theatre on site, so I am able to keep Winnie's veterinary care centralised which is less stressful for her and much easier for me. They are organised in the information that they distribute to me, so I have absolutely everything I need to best look after my Winnie and to make sure she's on track. Most importantly, they seem to genuinely care about their patients and I have been impressed at how gentle and caring they are of Winnie, who is incredibly shy. They also have taken the time to send through pictures of her post-op so as to help me feel a little calmer. They have been so helpful and accommodating to my endless questions and as a new pet owner, I have been so appreciative. Their care plan for Winnie is very holistic, thorough, and bespoke just for her as well. I cannot rate this team highly enough and myself and Winnie are most grateful.

We love coming to Swan St Vet - the team are fantastic and actually love animals. Our fur kid is looked after and treated by the clinic as though she's part of our family - which she is.
They follow up after treatments and always ensure that your pet is looked after. We always love the letters and emails that are address to our dog asking her to tell her "mum and dad" that she's due for a check up etc.
Great clinic - if you're anywhere nearby and looking for a vet, these guys are awesome.

Was very impressed with the professional and caring nature of all the staff at Swan St Vet. They always kept me updated on the health of our family pet at a difficult time, patiently explaining all options and procedures. Thank goodness for Swan Street Vet. Its so refreshing to visit vets who are really passionate, organised and seriously invested in their business. We now live 50 minutes away from Richmond, but it's worth the trip in for the quality of service and care for our GAP adopted greyhound. Although we don't manage to get to most of the events, we love the community focused celebrations and park get togethers. Best vet clinic we've ever been to.

As we should expect when it comes to our veterinary practices, staff are kind, professional and happy to take the time out to help explain any concerns you may have. However we have major concerns with their business practice in general having had tests conducted on our puppy without our prior consent, and in our absence. During our most recent consult, there was absolutely no discussion on what tests might have needed to be done with our puppy nor was there any moment we were asked if it was ok to proceed with any tests. Having the vet himself tell us our puppy had a predisposition to allergies, then to proceed with testing of any sort without the owners permission is absolutely unecceptable. This was not the first time communication failed with it resulting in a profit for the business. We had signed up to the 'best of pet' membership and have been very disappointed with the general strategies used in order to achieve further profits such as conducting unapproved tests on our puppy without permission nor clarity on costs. Reassuring us that you will take care of our pets and do what's best is necessary, it's not a strategy to implement in order to make profit off vunerability. You must ask permission of owners, be transparent and informative and offer absolute clarity on costs associated with consults or professional services. As you have failed to perform those duties, we will look elsewhere for our services.

Doctor Mel is super nice, you can tell she genuinely loves animals. That's the whole reason I've been taking my fur kids to this vet despite of high charges.
However a recent experience really put me off: I arrived a bit early for my bunny's vaccine. While I was waiting, I felt I wanted to go to bathroom. So I asked one of the nurses if I could use their bathroom. She said no. Then I asked if I could leave the bunny there for vaccine while I go find a bathroom. She said no, they are not responsible for the pet. Then I said, let me take the pet and I will go find a bathroom. She said no, in that case she wouldn't be able to guarantee the appointment because she doesn't know how long I will take and they are fully booked. I was about to cry at that point, seriously. In the end, the vet quickly vacinned the pet and I left.I don't know if I will ever step into this place; they might have their own policies, but the level of inconsideration, lack of willingness to assist and lack of sympathy really astonished me. I'm sure my departure won't mean much to the clinic as they are fully booked anyway.

The staff at Swan Street Vet are incredibly caring, generous, helpful and extremely knowledgeable. The level of customer service, care and treatment provided is always amazing and of the highest standard and quality. They provide constant invaluable communication and informative advice on issues. Their concern and frequent follow up phone calls to check on progress is greatly appreciated. Their service definitely does not stop when you leave the appointment. I strongly recommended this vet! Thank you for always taking such good care of my fur baby.

I have been bringing my cats here for about a year. Recently they recommended a full under-anesthetic dental scale and polish for mild gingivitis, quoting me $500 per cat ($1k for both). When I brought the cats to another clinic for a second opinion before surgery, they told me my cats' teeth were not anywhere near bad enough for dental surgery and that I had been misled. In the end, all they needed was an antibiotic injection and a teeth scrape - all done in under 10 mins and cost only around $100 for both cats. I am leaving this here so that other clients will know to seek a second, third, or even fourth opinion before committing to expensive procedures that may very well be unnecessary.
On the flip side, the staff are always friendly and warm here. They are also good at helping pets feel comfortable and relaxed. But in view of the upselling and high costs we will probably find another regular vet.

My dog recently had surgery at the lovely Swan St vet and I was SO chuffed with the service from end to end. At my initial consult I was welcomed as a new client and the reception; nurses and vet Dr Catalina were all so lovely and caring and affectionate toward my dog. On the day of surgery the vet Dr Catalina was so patient with me. She set my expectations on costs, took me into the area that my dog would be housed; receive pre op treatment and showed me the operating thea...ter. It was all extremely clean and sterile it really put my mind at ease. After surgery the nurses sent me a lovely email with a picture of my dog saying she was happy and recovering and the Dr Catalina called me to explain things had gone well. On discharge they gave me a file explaining what my dog had been through; what the medication I'd received would do to her and how to perform her aftercare routine. I even called them a few hours after getting home as my dog was whimpering and the lady on reception tracked down the operating nurse; checked the meds my dog was given in her op and explained everything to me. I cannot fault the service at Swan St vet and while it might be a little higher in price I would highly recommend using them for piece of mind and a great stress free service for your fur baby. Staff are always so friendly and helpful. I showed up without an appointment after my dog had suddenly couldn't walk on her back leg at the park and they were so calm and supportive and were able to see my dog as soon as possible. I'm sure appointments are preferred but I was so impressed (and grateful) that they were able to see us so quickly!

Like many of the reviews, I agree this is a lovely facility with super friendly staff. Also like some of the reviews, I find them extremely expensive and quick to up-sell. Have been coming here since they opened, although have been fortunate to have limited visits with thanks to well looked after pets. A recent visit for a minor concern cost way more than it should have. I felt as if my concerns over cost and treatment process were not considered, just faced with consistent efforts to explain why they focused on everything else I could spend money on with them rather than the issue at hand.

I've recently moved into the area and I have a 17 and a half year old cat. She is a diabetic so before they hand over any medication they are in the process of doing a full health check. They've been able to trim her nails, remove an old nail that was imbedded in one of her paw pads and take some blood all without having to sedate her. Sedation at her age is a big risk. Dr Alex and the team are amazing, I'm so happy with their duty of care, compassion and professionalism. Really great vet, full of knowledge and keen to help you. My kitten loves getting into the car, as he knows where he is going and loves being spoiled by everyone at Swan Street Vet. We had a situation where a particular charge wasn't explained properly. When they realised there was a miscommunication, they were quick to rectify it for me, which I really appreciated. So, not only are they full of useful information, they are also great to deal with. Highly recommend trusting your fur babies with Swan Street Vet.

I recently had my cat stay in a cat condo at the Swan Street Vet. She's an older cat who didn't take too kindly to the last cattery i put her in for an overnight stay. I was so pleasantly surprised at how well she did this stay. The cat condos are fantastic value and stress free due to the way they're set up. The staff were so friendly and very patient with my concerns going into the stay due to the previous experience i'd had. I will have no hesitation in having McKenzie stay there again. Thank you to the staff from McKenzie and I. My fave part (apart from picking her up) was the cute little report card they gave me after her stay detailing her stay. Thanks Swan Street Vet! Swan Street Veterinarians are the perfect team for people who treat their pets like family. Our rescue dog is highly anxious, and unfortunately reacts with aggression towards vets. The all female team have been so understanding and patient, never forcing Franky to do anything. They are conscious of trying to create new, positive vet experiences for animals, even encouraging "happy visits" where you just go say hi and get some treats. Recently Franky had to be sedated for treatment on his injured hind leg, and they even sent me a private Instagram video of Franky waking. Such a perfect gesture for a very worried fur Mum. If you want a vet to treat your fur child like family, this is the place.

The Swan Street vet team have been absolutely fabulous so far. I'm new to Richmond, and have a new little cat who has had a rough background and needed a number of procedures to get her ready for a fresh start at life. I have found all of the staff at SSV to be so friendly, helpful and professional. Their facilities are clean and really well set-up. They have an operating theatre on site, so I am able to keep Winnie's veterinary care centralised which is less stressful for her and much easier for me. They are organised in the information that they distribute to me, so I have absolutely everything I need to best look after my Winnie and to make sure she's on track. Most importantly, they seem to genuinely care about their patients and I have been impressed at how gentle and caring they are of Winnie, who is incredibly shy. They also have taken the time to send through pictures of her post-op so as to help me feel a little calmer. They have been so helpful and accommodating to my endless questions and as a new pet owner, I have been so appreciative. Their care plan for Winnie is very holistic, thorough, and bespoke just for her as well. I cannot rate this team highly enough and myself and Winnie are most grateful.

Took my dogs for a check up and vaccination for the first time as we recently moved to the area and can say I was really impressed with the service and staff are so lovely. One of my fur babies needs a teeth clean and they took me through the back surgery room to show me where he was staying and where they will be doing the procedure, can say I have never experienced this service at a vet before and I absolutely loved it! Well done.

We love coming to Swan St Vet - the team are fantastic and actually love animals. Our fur kid is looked after and treated by the clinic as though she's part of our family - which she is.
They follow up after treatments and always ensure that your pet is looked after. We always love the letters and emails that are address to our dog asking her to tell her "mum and dad" that she's due for a check up etc.
Great clinic - if you're anywhere nearby and looking for a vet, these guys are awesome.

Was very impressed with the professional and caring nature of all the staff at Swan St Vet. They always kept me updated on the health of our family pet at a difficult time, patiently explaining all options and procedures. We have also used their cat accommodation when we had to go away at the last minute and our cat came home happy and relaxed. I highly recommend this vet for all your pets health or boarding needs!

All the staff were truly caring and helpful at a time of need. Thank goodness for Swan Street Vet. Its so refreshing to visit vets who are really passionate, organised and seriously invested in their business. We now live 50 minutes away from Richmond, but it's worth the trip in for the quality of service and care for our GAP adopted greyhound. Although we don't manage to get to most of the events, we love the community focused celebrations and park get togethers. Best vet clinic we've ever been to.
