My elderly dog was checked in to the Village Vet for a dental clean, and to have an ultrasound and a benign tumour on her eyelid removed. The team were welcoming, polite and professional, and took the time to explain the details of each procedure my dog would have, what to expect, and what the day-surgery and after-care process and requirements would be. I was able to bring my dog in at 7:30 am - a tremendous help for people who work '9 to 5'. Upon arrival, the Village Vet team greeted me and my dog by our names, already knew why we were there and what information they needed to give me. The whole client experience was seamless and all too easy, and conveyed competence, trustworthiness, reliability, and expertise. The team treated my dog with great care and gentleness - she was anxious, as you'd expect, so leaving her in good, experienced hands was of paramount importance to me. It's been said that you can judge the heart of a person by his or her treatment of animals. My own experience is that the Village Vet team treat animals with dignity, care, and kindness. Having recently taken on two kittens Dr. Rob was absolutely amazing! Explained everything thoroughly and gave us great advice on all the vaccinations and things we should be on the lookout for. After a nervous car ride for one of the girls having the seperate cat waiting and consultation rooms was just brilliant, both girls went in settled and far less timid than when they came out of the car. Village Vet is our local since residing locally. Finding a local vet that is rabbit savvy is very important to us. Luckily we met the lovely Dr Rod who has looked after our rabbit with such care and has been able to provide further information on how to spot signs of illnesses in our rabbit. Dr Rod even provided a personal touch, advising us we cld contact him on his day off if something happened to our rabbit over the weekend. Our bun has had his nails trimmed by the nurses and they have looked after him with such care. Their professional and extra personal touch at this practice cannot be faulted! Our kitties had their routine check-up today with Dr Rod at Village Vet. The facilities at Village Vet are impeccable with a separate waiting room for the cats so the kitties were not stressed (well, no more stressed than a visit to the vet makes them anyway). Dr Rod, and every other vet at Village Vet who has looked after our girls, are very thorough in their exams. They are very knowledgeable and clearly keep up to date with the literature in veterinary science. Our first consultation with the Village Vet was exceptional. Rod was particularly thorough in getting to understand our dog and his accompanying lifestyle. His suggestions and recommendations were very insightful and helpful. Most importantly his handling of our pup was excellent. We wish our doctors were this good. As a current veterinary student and future veterinarian I cannot speak highly enough of this clinic. The veterinarians and nurses are extremely knowledgeable, compassionate and caring. Emphasis is placed on great client communication. I have taken my two kittens here on multiple occasions and will continue to do so! It's been a very unusual week. The scary bit with potential harm happened on Monday. The puppies found a possum in the garden. Unhappy but no visible signs of injury. Mooshie acted instinctively. She wanted to dispatch him to the possum home in the sky. I removed the dogs, covered the poss with a laundry basket and towel. Rang the very helpful Wildlife Victoria. The volunteer was hours away. But a friend called in. She took poss to The Village Vet in Toorak. Dr Rod and his team cared for poss til he was satisfied he could be released back into his home environment (the poss not Dr Rod). That happened last night. Poss raced off down the lane and presumably off to the railway siding. Our thanks to Dr Rod and the staff at The Village Vet. Here's Poss hiding or so he thinks... We have 3 beautiful dogs, and trust Rod and his team to care for them, as they really care about our dogs. They are all genuine animal lovers. And the best thing is they are proactive in catching small festering issues, so that they do not become huge issues. One of our dogs was going gradually blind, but they noticed something wasn't right, and caught the issue in time to tackle the problem with medication and stop further deterioration. Couldn't of asked for more tbh. We took our new pup Frankie in for his 1st consultation all of our questions were welcomed and professionally answered including a few witty gags! We've also been setup with a unique service in ensuring Frankie will never miss out on his required medications. Definitely recommend checking these guys out. My Burmese thinks, as I do, that Rod, Alice and staff are dreams come true! They took a very sick, almost comatose cat from this state to health in about 5 days, and while not a hospital, Rod checked in late a night to be sure my Albie (Albie T. Cat, the Amazing Burmese) was getting what he needed. I, on the other hand, have rarely needed a vet for any of my pets, went to the Village Vet Toorak on a recommendation, and now, should I ever need them again, that is the place I shall go.....
