Took a rescue dog in that had been previously been mistreated for a nail clipping, I was told to wait in one room while the dog was taken into another room, the vet cut one nail so short the dog screamed in pain and bled profusely. However the nurse was more concerned about the blood on the floor than the state of the dog. Prior to this when I told the vet that the dog seemed to be flapping its ears excessively I was told that if I wanted him to look at the ears that would cost more! Yes they are definitely more focused on the money than the welfare of the dog. I would NOT recommend this vet and will never use them again. Read Less

My lovely cat Betty who was 18 at the time needed a work up - I knew she wasn't going well and finally I bit the bullet. With full consultation with me, Dr Mark sedated her for bloods and radiographs of her chest where we found her tumour. I don't trust many vets to work on my animals but with his knowledge I knew we wouldn't be unwittingly killing her with using the wrong sedation or stressing her out (I think she's lovely but she is in essence a bloody nightmare at the vets!). the outcome wasn't good - she had cancer and with full support we palliated her for another month before she was placed to rest. I don't understand why some of the other comments are complaining about money - to have experts work on your animal, run tests and monitor her throughout - these are skills that in any other field people pay for without blinking an eye. Without charging how do they pay for blood machines, xray machines, warm air blankets plus the upkeep of their knowledge. If you want a vet to guess or do second rate work, sure go elsewhere but if you want things done properly then go here. Read Less

One of my German Shorthaired Pointers [GSPs] who has bad arthritis also ruptured her CCL. She was operated on by Dr Mark Boyhan last Thursday and returned home Friday. Now I have been taking my GSPs to this clinic for over 25 years. This is the first serious operation I have had to have had done and i am absolutely overjoyed. The staff at the clinic were genuinely concerned for Lenni (the GSP operated on), showed amazing care for her and Dr Mark has did a brilliant job on her. FIVE days after the op, her bandages are off and she is walking brilliantly. The sutured wound is clean, dry, no redness and is healing so well. She is already wanting to "GO" - and while she can't run for at least another 7 weeks, i just took her for her first walk off the property and she did brilliantly.
Before, during and post the op, I have nothing but the highest praise for all the vets, nurses, and office staff for their help, care, advice and treatment plan. A real team effort that has resulted in a 10++/10 result. if Lenni could talk she would be so grateful -so I am doing it for her!

I used to take my cat to this vet and I will never go back. On one occasion, they glanced at his teeth and said they were fine. After we asked them to recheck, they found that he had gingivitis and he had to have three teeth surgically removed because he would have been in a great deal of pain when eating. If we had not asked them to recheck, he would've been in pain for another year until his next check-up.
However, the worst incident which confirmed that we will never go back involved the rudeness and inappropriateness of the head vet nurse there. My cat gets stressed going to the vet (as do most cats), but on this occasion, he was more stressed than usual. They "took him out the back", I could hear growling, and he was brought back inside a net. When the nurse was putting him back in his carrier, she very rudely snapped at me "You have to be confident with your cat, or you're putting us all in danger." She then proceeded to throw him in the carrier and bang his paw with a tissue box until he pulled it inside. He continued growling until the second we got back to the car, at which point I opened the door of his carrier and he crawled out and curled up on my lap.
It was horribly inappropriate of her to imply that my cat is a generally aggressive pet and that I "should know how to deal with it" when he NEVER acts that way at home or around me. After talking to a vet nurse friend, she said that some vet clinics just DO NOT KNOW HOW TO DEAL WITH CATS and have no idea how to reduce stress for them. I will only be taking him to cat-only clinics from now on, because they understand the nuanced behaviour of these animals and show compassion and expertise in dealing with the stress that they feel. Last three years been taking my 2 dogs and the odd foster dog to upper ferntree gully vets. Service has been good until my last visit in August 2016.
Taking my dog in for wound management, they took her 'out the back' to clean her wound. The entire time i could hear my dog growling and yelping, and the vet asking for more staff to 'hold my dog down'. I could not believe they would subject my dog to such a negative behavior which would have totally been avoided if they treated my dog in the treatment room with me keeping her calm.
With such disbelief and disappointed my stressed dog and i waited at the front desk whilst the middle aged receptionist was on hold for 5mins. Only wording to me i should put my aggressive dog in the car as i waited.... I DO NOT OWN AN AGGRESSIVE DOG, just because my dog is a 'working line breed'. I declined and left my dog who layed at my feet recovering from her last 5mins of trauma. In hindsight i should have barged into the 'torchure' room grabbed my dog and walk out. Or not wasted my time paying a bill which was overpriced for a cheap and very nasty experience.
I think a vet who treats dogs behind the owners for simple tasks like wounds and vaccinations, is 1. hiding something 2. has the potential to negatively impact a dogs social behavior, worst case scenario lead the dog to human aggression. Also vets who dont work with rescue groups, or injured wildlife caretaking is just another business in the pet industry with eyes on dollars than actual care for animals.
