I will NEVER NEVER go back to this vet. I saw " Dr Sara" for my Labrador's ear infection and a tooth that needed getting taken out. After her examining my dogs lumps ( which I advised her were fatty lumps, as per advice from other vets that I have previously been to) she told me she thinks my dog has cancer and 2 months to live. HOW disgraceful. She had no compassion or empathy and she spoke to me only using technical veterinary terms . As it turned out, after 5 samples and $400 later, my beautiful dog DOES NOT have cancer. They turned out to be fatty tissue. Again, she had no sensitivity around giving me these results, nor did she acknowledge or apologise for her abrasive and premature diagnosis. She then went on to quote me between $900 to $2000 for dentistry clean and tooth pulling. After I advised her that I had had my dog's teeth cleaned 2 years ago for $250, she responded with "well then, that's why your dogs teeth are so bad" and I got what I pay for. This was the worst Veterinary experience I have ever had. Thank god I did not come home & tell my children our dog is dying. She has a lot to learn about a compassionate approach and how to practice ethically. Read Less

This is the first review I have ever done and I am only doing it because I want to make sure that other people are aware of a few happenings before taking their precious pets here. I understand that businesses can't be perfect, and that there may in fact be some good staff who work here but it's important to make light of a few big issues given the nature of the business and what is at stake. Firstly, the equipment isn't properly sterilized, but wiped down with a tissue (hopefully this was just a once off thing or it got sterilized later). When I personally took my puppy in to get its shots a few months ago, they didn't record the data properly at the time and the next time we went in, first they alarmed me with not being sure about what was/not given to him with a particular shot, and then when they "figured" it out, they wanted to give him more because they assumed he hadn't got one. This could have been lethal if he had in fact had it and this was a risk I wasn't prepared to take (lucky it wasn't a must-have shot)! On top of that, they passed him around to each other after dealing with sick dogs all day without thinking about the fact that he wasn't vaccinated yet (yes they meant well but they should know better). Now none of this would have made me resort to a review until my friend went there 2 days ago to get her healthy, young dogs teeth cleaned, which ended up in the dog dying during the process (which is very sad and unfortunately does happen without it being necessary to write a review about). The SHOCKER (and biggest motivator to writing this review) is that when it happened, they called them and when they arrived, just handed them their dead dog in a sack with NO compassion shown at ALL, and ushered them out the back as fast as possible which I think is absolutely appalling (especially since the dog should never have died in the first place)! This absolutely despicable way of handling something so devastating was the last straw for me and I will NEVER go back. I sincerely hope this makes a difference with the way Vets West Hillary's conduct themselves. Read Less

Feeling very taken advantage of and ripped off! We took our little dog in as she had chewed a cycad palm seed and we we're worried about her being poisoned. This was the closest vet to our house so that's why we took her there in a rush. A young vet took a look at her and quoted $700 for fluids, and a blood test and a few pills. Our dog was released after about 5 or 6 hours, we contacted our usual, very experienced vet to continue on care and we thought we'd price out (exactly) the bill from Vet West to see what they would have charged us - there was an almost $300 difference on a $700 bill!! How is this possible? I called and spoke to Vet West thinking there must have been an error. No error, no offer of any refund... That's just their pricing. I can understand $50-$100 in variation, but near $300? Come on! Read Less

We've been attending this practice for many years now, with our past five or so cats. Recently our 2yro Burmese cat Kiki was diagnosed with end stage cardiomyopathy. Kiki's vet Ingrid has been nothing short of amazing during this process. She knew EXACTLY what she was talking about & helped us obtain a quick diagnosis with the help of the 24hr vet in Osborne Park. Without this, I really believe our last couple of weeks with Kiki wouldn't have been as close as they ended up being. You can't put a value on quality time such as this. I managed to spend many hours saying goodbye to my little girl. We rushed Kiki in 2 nights ago & was fortunate enough to come across the vet on duty, Rudolph. Kiki was in distress & needed to be put to sleep immediately. Rudolph was calm & consoling & kind, despite our sheer panic & absolute grief. The nurse who assisted him was just as good. How they managed both Kiki, AND John & I in our moment of panic & desperation is beyond me. I just want to thank them both for being so amazing, I couldn't have asked for a better combination for my girl. You're actions will NEVER be forgotten. As for the rest of the VW crew, thank you ALL for being so outstanding & professional. I wouldn't take my furchildren anywhere else. Read Less

We have been taking our dog to vetwest hillaries for the past 8 years and have spent thousands of dollars there. I'm quite disappointed as the last time we were there I felt like we were rushed through the consult and practically pushed out the door. I had a number of minor problems that I wanted checked but after the first one was looked (ear allergy) at I was practically pushed out of the consult which ended up costing me $100 I also wanted her paws checked which have now gotten worse and I will have to pay for another consult again 2 days later because I was rushed out of a consult that I was paying good money for. Hi I Thought I Would Share My Personal Experience With Vetwest Whitfords With Others To Hopefully Prevent Others Having The Same Problem I did With Them .... Ok I Have Been Using VetWest for the last 4 years After first taking my then 5 month Old Staffy There to treat a quite Serious Skin Allergy/condition , At The Time The vet Chose to Use cortisone Because of the quite severe outbreak off the skin . Cool , Short term fix , Appointments made to Allergy test dog etc etc , Quoted over $1000 for full allergy test ! ok now The process of elimination so I'm Told Foods,Enviroment,Grasses, etc "Special Dog Food " $130" a bag Thank you very Much . Then Natural Diet , $$$$ , More cortisone , Ok At This point My dog is now 16-17 Months , And His skin Condition is Terrible , Now The $ Factor Hurts The Pocket , But The Fact That my 4 legged MATE is in so much pain , let alone the constant need to itch hurts more , By pain i Mean out breaks Between webbing on paws top and bottom That are Raw (then Bleed) Then Get Infected and so on and so on ,also on most parts of Body ......More Trips to vet More Creams-antibiotics-injections etc , Now 4 years have passed still no sign of cure or even effective control ... My dog Then cuts his paw and i need to take him to vet , closest one at time was in mandurah , while I'm there getting paw looked at vet notices skin condition and asks me if I've tried antihistamine ???? UM no no one has ever Mentioned it to me in all the visits to vet west whitfords ... third week of antihistamines and my dog has clean , correct coloured skin , not bulging pink welts , is not itching, paws are nearly clear ...... So The Question That Is on my mind is WHY THE F@#K WAS THIS NOT RECOMENDED TO ME!!!!!!!!!!!! VETWEST . !!!!!! Makes me wonder do they really care about my dogs wellbeing or the $$$$ That is generated from all those visits to them !!!!!!!! Thats not including The $1000s We have spent on vet bills,Diets,Creams, lotions, shampoos, etc etc Simple text book cure for skin conditions on a lot of dogs not all, Ive later learnt . So you have been warned , Read Less

Not happy at all. Read Less
