Dr Ashleigh Arbuthnot
Veterinarian
Ashleigh has been in small animal practice for over 30 years after she made her dream come true and completed her veterinary degree at Murdoch University in 1991. She travelled to the UK as a new graduate and spent many years working in a variety of very busy practices gaining invaluable medical and surgical experience. She has worked in country and city practices, emergency centres and charity hospitals expanding her medical and surgical skills along the way.
Her vision for Challenger Veterinary Hospital, when it was established in 2015, has always focused on quality care for your pets with a friendly, family feel. She believes that every pet deserves the very best and has engaged staff and facilities to ensure that this is always the level of care your pet will receive.
Ashleigh's fur family consists of a little scruffy rescue pound puppy called Morri, a rescue Greyhound called Romy and three Challenger Vet rescue kittens, Kip, Cosmo and Buzz.

My dog spent 3 nights in Challenger Vet following a bad case of pancreatitis and the standard of care from the nurses and vets was outstanding. They made sure she was kept warm and comfortable with really good pain relief for her sore and I was able to come and visit her at anytime and everyone made me feel at ease and welcome.
Thanks for taking such good care of her.

Staff are always very friendly and caring. Our dog seems well taken of and even wanted to stay instead of coming home! They were also quick to slot me in in an urgent situation with no problems.

We've found challenger to be fantastic.
A deeply saddening and desperate (FIP) situation initially led us to visit challenger.
We're not local to Kwinana but happily continue to commute 30 minutes ...

I am way more fussier about who my pets see than who my GP is !! So for that reason I will not take my babies to anyone but Challenger Hospital. Not only are the team professional and kind but the value for money is second to none and very reasonable especially when I had to get a mother cat and 5 kittens neutered. I rang over 30 different vets in Perth over 3 weeks and was happy to leave my area of Kwinana to get the right vet and the right price but I didn't need to in the end because Challenger were the best after intense scrutiny. I was disgusted with the lack of humanity I received from the Cat Haven in prior years for different issues but my concerns were heard and responded to by Challenger in the best way. It's worth the drive even if you don't live around here. They don't just care about the animals. They care about who looks after them too :)

Had to take our cat Polly to see Dr Ashleigh on Saturday as she was very sick and the thoughtfulness and care shown was unbelievable as was the sympathy when the decision was made that it would be for the better if Polly was put to rest - this was a hard but necessary decision and big than ks to Ashleigh and staff for help - huge plaudits to all.

From day one I have been happy at and with Challenger Vets. They have been kind and understanding and reassuring with me and more importantly they have always been wonderful and painstaking with my animals. The tolerance and time that they take with my very difficult boy is appreciated. He pushes us all with his shenanigans but not once have tempers frayed. It is taken as all part of the job. The staff themselves have a family feel about them. Always a smile and a chat. We are very lucky to have a vets of this calibre in Kwinana.

I took my fur-baby Wilson to Challenger Vet Hospital on Friday morning. I had discovered a grass seed in his paw the night before. A phone call was made early Friday morning to the Hospital and they fitted me as an emergency without an appointment. From the moment I walked in, the nursing staff were very polite and sensitive to my needs whilst the vets were busy. Vet Kristy saw us and was very informative and knew what needed to be done. Vet Ash gave us a welcoming hello and acknowledgment in between seeing to other patients. I was kept up to date with phone calls during the surgery and what was required. Wilson was cared for with the highest regard. I would not hesitate to recommend this professional practice to any future clients. The TLC which was afforded to both Wilson and I is second to none. Wilson is recovering well and the way he is running around, you would not think he has stitches in the top and bottom of his paw! A huge thank you to all staff at Challenger Vet Hospital.

Ashleigh is what all Vets *should* be. She is quite obviously very passionate about animals, and is patient with their owners. She is able to keep our very very nervous boy reasonably calm during visits, and our girl has no worries about Ashleigh's 'poking and prodding' which is amazing as when she came to us she was a shelter-rescue and was petrified of vets touching her. Our girl has allergies, which present themselves as constant ear infections and dermatitis and sores on her belly. Ashleigh has previously given us advice on possible treatments & potential dietary triggers, and at our most recent visit prescribed a host of treatments that are already showing improvement for our allergy ridden little girl, not even 24 hours after starting the treatments.

Our little puppy was in a state so bad we contemplated the worst. This vet was great. From real animal care, understanding concern to explaining the issues. Ashleigh in particular, was unbelievably amazing and kept in contact updating us every day. After bad experiences with vets prior, i would and will continue to use this vet as necessary. Im sure theres many out there on par, but these guys have revived my faith in vets and taken away the bad stigma of vet costs as it was well worth it. Thank you guys.

My dog spent 3 nights in Challenger Vet following a bad case of pancreatitis and the standard of care from the nurses and vets was outstanding. They made sure she was kept warm and comfortable with really good pain relief for her sore and I was able to come and visit her at anytime and everyone made me feel at ease and welcome.

Love the wonderful vets and nurses here! Will not take my multitude of animals anywhere else now! Friendly, helpful and can always fit me in at short notice (as vet trips often are ). Would recommend...

Ashleigh is what all Vets *should* be. She is quite obviously very passionate about animals, and is patient with their owners. She is able to keep our very very nervous boy reasonably calm during visits, and our girl has no worries about Ashleigh's 'poking and prodding' which is amazing as when she came to us she was a shelter-rescue and was petrified of vets touching her. Our girl has allergies, which present themselves as constant ear infections and dermatitis and sores on her belly. Ashleigh has previously given us advice on possible treatments & potential dietary triggers, and at our most recent visit prescribed a host of treatments that are already showing improvement for our allergy ridden little girl, not even 24 hours after starting the treatments.

Our little puppy was in a state so bad we contemplated the worst. This vet was great. From real animal care, understanding concern to explaining the issues. Ashleigh in particular, was unbelievably amazing and kept in contact updating us every day. After bad experiences with vets prior, i would and will continue to use this vet as necessary. Im sure theres many out there on par, but these guys have revived my faith in vets and taken away the bad stigma of vet costs as it was well worth it. Thank you guys.
