Even Murdoch hospital were impressed with their level of timely and appropriate care during an emergency which meant our gizzy can walk and had the best chance of recovery. What more can one ask for. We took our beloved puppy ‘Chaos’ to Port Kennedy vets 5 years ago for a major TPLO surgery (knee reconstruction). They were recommended to us by a friend studying Vet at the time and we were not disappointed. We drove 45 minutes from our home in South Lake every other week for rehabilitation and we were always greeted by name and with a smile. Furthermore the quality of surgery that our dog received was second to none. The recovery was long due to the nature of the surgery, but she recovered well. Vets really have an extremely difficult job managing the expectations of clients during very emotional and trying circumstances. I can see why people are quick to cast stones when money and emotions are involved, but I’d like to ask you to consider the long hours and endless care that these hard working and professionals put in every day. Do not go to this vet if yr dogs case if not an easy one. I have been waiting and waiting to get my dogs tests done there and wanted to book her in the next day for these tests, instead I was fobbed off to someone else. Obviously my dog was placed in the too hard pile and the vet said she was happy to send my dogs records to another vet. The vet wasent interested in the slightest and I left absolutely disgusted. Now I have to pay another fee elsewhere as I was rudely charged a consult fee to be told that it would be best if I went elsewhere. All they did was take my money, money that would have been better spent on an experienced vet somewhere else, what a waste of money. If your dog needs to be euthanized or justs needs a vaccination port kennedy is suutable but for complex cases such as reflex dont bother, they are inexperienced and simply not interested. I left feeling totally disgusted and appalled at my dogs treatment. Well I will take her advice and find another vet, preferably one who isent fresh out of uni and takes cases on no matter how complex and cares about pets. Perhaps if they didnt fob off major cases on to other vets they may be better equipped and experienced to tackle all cases. Wot a joke! Read Less

I usually don't write reviews and I'm making an exception her because it is the least I could do. The advice you offer over the phone (and during consult) is second to none. My Miniature Staff, Cayser, was recently in a dog fight that he started and came out worse off. We live in Melbourne now and all the 24 hour vets here refused to advise via telephone. A quick chat to your team at and I was able to administer pain relief, clean and then dress his wounds. All this without the excessive after hours price tag I'd have been charged to attend a surgery in Melbourne. It's unlikely my two pups will be seen by your team in the next few years and this shout out is the least I can do to help promote your excellent service.Read Less

Having lived in WA for 25 years we have had many animals come and go during that time. We have always been treated amazingly by the staff at PKVH It doesn't matter if it's for a general checkup. A hair cut or an emergency and we have used all. Thanks guys you rock Read Less

I recently had to make the heartbreaking decision to have my beautiful dog Jasper put to sleep. As he was 15years old, he was starting to have a few age related issues and Dr Seven was fabulous in managing them in a non invasive way that kept him comfortable. Because the interventions kept Jas mostly pain free, my partner and I were able to spend Jas' last day taking him to the park and spoiling him with his favourite foods. When the time came, Dr Rachel showed incredible compassion. We were encouraged to spend as much time as we needed and Jas 'fell asleep' peacefully on my lap. I've taken my cat here twice, first to be neutered, he was treated very gently and well by the staff and made a very fast and healthy recovery! The second time was under an emergency, and again the staff treated my baby boy with a lot of gentle care. They were financially helpful by offering cheaper medication and a payment plan, its quite easy to tell that these people put the wellbeing of your pet over anything else. If you love your pets look no further than PK i have 3 cats and 3 dogs, finches and budgies. The Reception staff and Vets here are my life and have seem me through bad times and major leaps!! Even giving me a orphan budgie needings some new friends. I would now just like to comend Aurthur the Vet who went beyond, along with Staff on last nights shift helping us with our elderly dog Wanda who sadly passed in the Surgery at 6.50pm.His diagnosis was spot on without tests and even with my hubby and i being insistent pain killers would give her 8 more hrs. Thankyou Aurthur and all, for such sensitivity and care for our 16 yr old fur baby who sadly died on the weigh scales as Aurthur reluctantly was making up a dose of pain killers.She left us peacefully in the right place and with such tender hearted staff thankyou Read Less

We have been bringing our Siamese Harry to Port Kennedy Vet for more than 20 years and sadly had to make the decision to put him to sleep last weekend. It was the hardest day of my life without doubt, but I cannot thank Dr Rachel enough for her kindness to my daughter and myself, as well as Harry. Rachel has given us wonderful care for Harry over the years and I was so grateful she was available to help us through the final visit. Rachel, you are a very special human being - thank you, we appreciate your care so much. Huge thanks also to Mags, Seven (you are awesome - thank you so much for the care for Harry towards the end, you helped us, not just Harry by being so compassionate and understanding of his issues!) and Fiona and all the team there who have cared for Harry over the years. Mags - thank you for having taken the time to leave very specific instructions for when the time came. This review is in relation to the so-called "grooming service" offered by some of their nurses. To provide a quick summary: A truly pathetic job by arrogant staff for an unjustified high cost. My partner and I just moved to Baldivis from north of the river and thought it would be easier to use a local groomer for our small dog because we unfortunately are now quite far away from our usual groomer who always did a great job. We choose Port Kennedy Vet as they had decent reviews, ADVERTISED reasonable pricing of $55.00 - $65.00 and we thought they would take more care due to the groomers also being nurses at the vet... How wrong we were. Over the previous week before the appointment I had cut out ALL of the matted hair on our dog myself as he trusted me and we didn't want to stress him out any more than necessary when we took him to have the task finished. By the time he had his appointment I had essentially cut away most of his hair anyway so it would have been a much smaller job for the groomer and as he is always very well behaved (as we have been told by every other groomer he has seen) it would have been a pretty simple job. We dropped him off at 12:00PM and were told to pick him up at 2:00PM. We arrived at about 1:55PM and after waiting over 5 minutes for someone to actually serve us we were asked to take a seat while they brought him out. While we were waiting one of the reception staff asked if we wanted to settle the account before he came out which we were happy to do. She said it would be $65.00 which we were surprised about due to everything mentioned above so we queried this with her and she rudely told us to discuss it with the groomer herself. At 2:20PM (why it took 20 minutes to get him from the back is beyond us) the groomer brought him out and we were pretty disappointed by the awful job she had done; the hair around his ears and face was uneven, his nails were sharp & jagged and the hair around his body was so hacked up it looked like she had used a weed-wacker rather than clippers. As our dog is nearly 10 years old and has seen several different groomers over his lifetime we know what to expect him to look like and there is no excuse for the way he looks now. We asked her why she was charging the maximum advertised cost considering how quick and simple the job would have been and her attitude immediately as she tried to claim their prices were very competitive. We commented on the job she had done not being particularly good either and she tried to say we done the easy part by removing the matted hair ourselves... What? When we asked her what would qualify for the lower end of the price bracket ($55.00) she rudely said that was only for some of the regular customers even though there was absolutely no mention of that anywhere on the website or by any of the reception staff when making the appointment. As she was about to leave I noticed A LOT of hair which matched our dog exactly was all over her clothes to the point that large clumps had fallen on the floor - We honestly believe she had only "groomed" our dog while we were waiting and that was the unjustifiable reason for taking 20 minutes to get him from the back. To add insult to injury when we went back to reception to settle the account the girl asked if everything was "all good now" and we told her we would pay the $65.00 but we weren't happy and wouldn't be coming back. She really couldn't care less and just processed the payment then handed me the receipt. I was polite and said "thank you" to which she didn't even bother to respond, much like what you would expect from a selfish child who didn't get her way, not a "professional" woman. For $65.00 we expect a decent haircut for our 5kg, well-behaved, pre-groomed dog but what we received wasn€t even funny. Absolutely disgusting service by everyone involved and we would strongly recommend against taking your beloved animal to this greedy business. Read Less

We have been regulars at Port Kennedy Veterinary Hospital since it first opened. They have seen us through our happiest days with new baby puppies, kittens, bigger dogs and cats for illness, infections, general wellness checks and the saddest times when we said goodbye. All staff are welcoming, knowledgable helpful and compassionate. Best of all our pets love going there and we feel confident they are getting the very best of care. If you're here checking the reviews because you want compassionate, understanding vets who explain things clearly and thoroughly, then this is the right place. We have been using Port Kennedy for our two dogs, two cats, snakes and chooks for 5 years and I cannot recommend them enough. I know that whenever I have to leave one of the fur kids there, not only are their full medical needs addressed but they consider each animals personality as well. I don't know about the other reviews on here but a friend suggested I try this vet when I moved to the area and I found all the staff really helpful and they knew their stuff. They explained costs to me before doing anything and gave me a few different treatment options and quotes which was great because money was a bit tight but i love my animals and would do anything for them. The vet was lovely and my dog doesn't normally like vets but this guy put him at ease really quickly and he loved the treats! These guys made it seem like vet work wasn't just their job, they loved animals and thats what i want in my vet so i will be going back. Read Less
