I took my dog to Waves vet last year because he was unwell, thought they would help. But they didn’t. They did all these tests like ultrasounds, X-rays and blood tests and even wanted to do a bone marrow test which we didn’t do because it would’ve caused discomfort to our dog. Also the big C kept being mentioned, which made us very emotional. $6000 later we had our dog walk out like a zombie, he didn’t even recognise us with so many drugs were pumped into him. We said enough is enough and grabbed our dog and payed the enormous bill and took him to our local vet. They looked him over and it ended up being a stomach issue and they gave us some medication to give to him which was worth $40 and he was fine in a few days. So stay clear from WAVES vet. So many complaints on here but nothing has been done. I hope someone reads these comments before going to Waves. It might save your pocket and your pet. Read Less

Worst experience ever! Avoid this veterinary clinic as they are more interested in making money than in taking care of your pet. They charged us over $4,250, whereas most of the treatment was excessive and prolonged and could have been avoided. Our dog ended up at the clinic on Saturday evening (22/02) after he experienced a heat stroke. The dog was under the care of our friends as we were on holiday overseas at that time. Our friend took him to the clinic and contacted us via phone. We spoke with one of the vets, and she informed us that dog is in awful condition and most likely will pass away overnight. She added that if he survives, he will have in all probability some organs damaged and will require special treatment. At that point, she estimated the cost of treatment at $2000 (fluids, medication, oxygen and emergency medical assistance). Fair enough! Next day our friend was in touch with vets, and he was advised that the dog is still doing poorly and must stay one more day under vet care as they claimed he was struggling to breathe and had horrible liver results. In the evening, they requested the dog to stay overnight for further observation and promised to get the blood sample promptly for examination to assess the liver problem. They told our friend he would be informed on the results in the morning the next day and the dog should be released home at that time. Our friend contacted the clinic on Monday morning. He was told that the vet was gone for the shift, and the blood sample was not taken. The anticipated results were not available; for that reason, the dog should stay in the clinic undergoing the same treatment ( oxygen, fluids, medications). Throughout the day, our friend did not receive any update from vets neither the blood results. The clinic was adding extra hours to the bill and did not bother to contact him at all. He tried to get any information around noon but still no results and no update! We arrived at Perth on Monday evening and headed the clinic straight from the airport. When we got there, we found our sweet boy placed in the cage. Many tubes were inserted in his body (oxygen, some fluids). We were informed that he is still in bad condition, struggling to breathe and with worrying liver results. When we removed him from the cage and disconnected from tubes, he was very stiff, absolutely intoxicated with drugs, but we could not notice any problem with his breathing at all. It turned out the blood results were available at about 4:30 pm and still, nobody bothered to call my friend with the update even that they knew he was waiting for the information. Being upset with the fact that they informed us that the dog has severe issues with breathing and liver that caused the threat to his life, whereas that seemed not to be a case, and not being given blood results or any update from the clinic for the whole day, we requested the discharge for our dog. We had a long and unpleasant discussion with one of the junior staff about the treatment and its enormous cost of $4.25k. She contacted doctors involved in the case via phone to learn more about what happened. They gave different statements about why the blood results were unavailable and suggested our friend lied about the poor communication and false promises they gave him. They did not let us talk to doctors directly to clarify the situation. That was very upsetting and arrogant… We disagreed with the part of the bill (Monday charges) but were forced to pay it as they refused to release the dog otherwise. After expressing our disappointment with the service, we received on Monday, and the overcharging for unnecessary treatment, we were warned that the cost could be even higher if they will be forced to go thoroughly and add extra items to the bill! Do you believe it!? The only cooperative and understanding person was the receptionist. She was lovely and helped us go quickly through all bureaucracy with this colossal bill payment. After coming back home, our dog kept improving every hour. We stayed up all night watching him closely. He had no problem with breathing and started being full of life in no time. We were sure the drug effect wore off, and he is quite alright considering an exaggerated pessimistic diagnosis from the clinic. We are not sure if a miracle happened or something was wrong with the Waves diagnosis, but our boy was just fine by the morning!!! In the morning (Tuesday), we took our dog to the local vet for independent examination. The doctor confirmed that the dog had no issues with breathing! They conducted blood and urine testing and results affirmed that our sweet boy is in perfect condition. There was no need to drug him or keep him under oxygen therapy. The vet acknowledged that the treatment received on Monday was dragged on and excessive, and the oxygen treatment was genuinely unnecessary. I am grateful to Waves clinic for helping my dog on Saturday, but absolutely dissatisfied and frustrated about poor communication and management, unnecessary costs and stress caused to my dog on Monday. Unpleasant comments from clinic staff that we should be ready to pay any money no matter how high the fee was to help our dog did indeed disappoint me, especially the service they charged us for Monday was more than was needed and I would say it did more harm than good to my dog. Independent examination gave us the confidence that something was done seriously wrong at the clinic on Monday. Too many people were involved, and the situation poorly managed. Shocking was the fact that they tried to convinced us that our friend lied about Monday's communication with doctors! Even more shocking was the fact that they claimed the condition was life-threatening, but they did not bother to give us any update on Monday:( Please consider our experience before using this clinic service… Read Less

Waves did a scan on my cat today as it was the only place my vet could find that had the schedule to fit her in. Incredibly disappointed and frustrated! Referred to Waves Dermatology by my regular vet due to my dogs skin condition. Was not provided with any expectation of cost minus the initial consult fee of $200. I was provided with an costing 'estimate' AFTER they had already done the works (giving me no options), totally $1100+. Included in that was wastefulness, providing me with antibiotics that after 3 days when the results came back were not the right ones and I had to buy more. I understand speciality treatments come at a cost but consideration that I am not a millionaire and would need to prepare for the excess costs would have been appreciated. In addition, I have used their emergency services before, on another occasion for my other dog which I found very good. Read Less

I would not recommend Wave. I am very disappointed with how they handled my dog situation. They do not provide honest opinion and all out to make money from us. Lack of compassion, explanation and professionalism. They pry on owner like us who are vulnerable and determined to save our little buddy. Sadly my dog condition did not improve after the surgery (even though we were made believed that the survival rate is high and we could prolong his life). We spent a fortune there! If we knew things would turned out so badly, we wouldn't let our little buddly stayed in the hospital for so long and proceeded with the surgery. We were referred to Waves by our local Vet, following the sudden appearance of a spinal issue with our beloved Daschund, Ruby. Every single member of staff was fantastic, with particular praise for Dr Moles. I have never been dealt with by a Veterinary Surgeon who demonstrated the same level of compassion and empathy as he did with us today. This was all the more important for us as sadly, due to her condition, we made the difficult decision to have Ruby put to sleep. Dr Moles had previously explained options available to us, including surgical intervention, but did not place any pressure on us whatsoever to go one way or another. In the end, after a family chat, we agreed that Ruby needed to be free from her pain and that we needed to look at what was best for her, and not just for us. Dr Moles took care of us while we said goodbye to Ruby and gently ensured that Ruby went to sleep quickly and peacefully. Although we have lost our Ruby, the overall experience we had at Waves made a terribly emotional and draining day just about bearable. I would totally recommend Waves to any pet owner; they put your interests and more importantly those of your pet, ahead of any opportunity to take money off you. Read Less

Should have listened to the local vets in the area and avoided this place like the plague! Was over-charged with an extra nights (12hr) hospitalisation ($220.00), although when it came to them finally acknowledging it and me requesting a refund they conveniently decided that they "forgot to charge for some extra surgery time and other little bits and pieces" on the finalised invoice I paid in full on the day of discharge. Unfortunately your vet advised me at 6.15am on Sunday morning the procedure was complete following some delays with other emergencies and took approx 1.5hrs (charged at 1.75 X hourly rate on invoice - fair enough given some prep time). Their explanation today: "we're an emergency service, you signed a consent [actually for a lesser estimate] and we can charge what we like". Get your facts right, show some integrity and display an interest in the wellbeing of the animals rather than the owners credit cards. You've made $6500 out of me on this occasion (not to mention the 4 previous presentations) - so you've done well one would think! I can't fault the vets and their skill, although unfortunately it's your admin staff that will send people running (thankfully to the new vet at the shopping centre down the road with extended emergency trading hours!) Incredibly disappointed and frustrated! Read Less

Had very helpful and professional dealings with the lovely staff at WAVES last week. Everyone we came in contact with was caring and compassionate. Our greyhound had suddenly collapsed on his walk which of course was very distressing for us and him but the staff took over his care and put us at ease. They were all very caring and informative, especially Melinda who talked us through her diagnosis, the medication and future treatment for our boy. We were very impressed and couldnt fault any aspects of our dealings with WAVES. Thank you all very much.

Unless you have an insurance policy for your dog or you have the money to spend by all means... Read Less

Their superior knowledge and training as well as their incredible and modern facilities meant I felt a little more at ease leaving my precious furbaby in their care.

I can't fault the vets and their skill, although unfortunately it's your admin staff that will send people running (thankfully to the new vet at the shopping centre down the road with extended emergency trading hours!) The team at WAVES cared for both me and my cat with equal patience. They weren't my first call of the night. Even after suspecting poison, Baldivis Hospital wouldn't see my cat if I couldn't pay the whole fee on the spot. Very upsetting. When I called WAVES the difference in attitude and care was immediately obvious. They asked more questions and I was instantly calmed. The whole experience was what I expected from truly caring animal lovers. Thank you. Thank you. Read Less

My boy, Benny had to attend WAVES at very short notice, with a serious spinal injury. The vet, Aaron and all the other staff were outstanding. Due to the serious nature of the surgery, Benny has required ongoing check ups. The care and attention and patience shown to Benny and myself on all occasions at WAVES been fantastic. WAVES also have a great Facebook page which has lots of information for pet owners, which is also great, and I recommend anyone reading this to take a look at - there's a lot of quality, free information there that may even save your pets life. I recommend saving the contact details for WAVES into your phone so that if there is an emergency you can contact them straight away and not worry about looking up 24 hour vets etc. Thanks everyone at WAVES, I appreciate everything you've done for myself and Benny. :)Read Less
