Dr Heather Barrett has always been our family vet and when I adopted a "shelter dog" who had come from a violent abusive home I knew Heather could help him, Deez had extreme fear and mistrust of people, chronic anxiety with panic attacks which presented itself as shaking and aggression, On our initial visit Heather put a plan together for Deez and I to help him overcome his problems, every visit Heather spent a lot of time sitting on the floor near him just talking to him and showing him that being touched could be a nice experience, slowly but surely building up trust with him, on his bad days Heather would even see him in the car where he felt safe, all the while building on that trust and slowly forming a bond with him, Heather's patience, persistence and her naturally gentle calming nature paid off, Deez completely trusts her and now when we visit he gets a bit anxious but is always pleased to see Heather, he gives her cuddles and sits on her knee, it's truly remarkable the bond they have formed and I will always be so very grateful to Heather for my now happy boy who 3yrs on is progressing so well and growing in confidence, I highly recommend Dr Heather Barrett for all your pets needs, she is truly amazing and second to none, her passion is for all animals to be healthy and happy and I just won't go anywhere else!!
