I am a first time cat owner so I have been worrying lots if everything is normal. I had so many questions and I can now say they're all answered thanks to the wonderful staff at this clinic. I saw Dr. Wilson with my kitty and she did a full checkup, even gave me a rundown on parts of care I didn't even realize i had to know. She also patiently answered all my questions and gave my kitty a thorough check up. She was so good with my cat, so patient and caring, I was in awe. The clinic looks very nice as well, very clean and has a welcoming atmosphere and the rest of the staff are delightful, they even gave us a little welcome gift with some more info on care. The staff from Mission Ridge came into our kindergarten classroom to do an in-class field trip. The kids had a great time and the presentation was very engaging! The care all our dogs have received over the years is second to none. Dr. Katharine helped us through one of our dog's illness and passing last year with the greatest compassion and care. Dr. Wilson is great with our dogs too as are all the staff. They care enough to call us often to check on everyone. The front office staff are great getting us same day appointments. My family has been bringing our pets here for the last 20 years or so, and I would never consider going anywhere else unless I moved away. Even living in Edmonton, we happily make the drive over to see this spectacular and trustworthy staff. Sometimes accidents happen and pets get old. I've been to other clinics with friends and significant others before only to find pushy and cold staff members. At Mission Ridge, I always feel calmer in those tough situations knowing their vets are caring for my fuzzy friends. And the admin staff and vet techs have always been unwaveringly sweet to me, going above and beyond. With my new puppy, we stop in just to visit sometimes! And recently after having landed a jump wrong and hurting her leg, we were accommodated that very morning just a half an hour after calling. I'm always initially wary of purchasing medical plans. But with my puppy who I got knowing she came with some issues, I felt confident in trusting the vet assistant who went over the plan in detail with me. I didn't feel pressured or like it wouldn't be worth it. (It definitely already has been!) We love our vet clinic and appreciate all of the lovely people who have taken care of us! Read Less

I came to the clinic for the first time yesterday, all the staff were very friendly and welcoming! They are affordable and I would recommend them to family and friends. I went in for vaccinations, and ended up leaving with a complimentary nail trim and a bag of things I would need for my new addition. Mission Ridge Animal Hospital is the only vet we will take our cats. When we made the call to put our older cat down, Mission Ridge was very accommodating and had her in that morning. We have two young cats now that we bring in for annual appointments. Currently we buy our cat food from the clinic, and we are very pleased with the quality. Overall, we trust Mission Ridge's advice. Great place. They were very comfortable with handling my hamster whose eye was infected and perforated. They prescribed antibiotics and I am happy to say that he is doing well now. I have been a customer for the past 15 years and not planning to change.  All the vets and staff there have treated our dogs with the utmost care and attention.  With our one dog, through the skill of the staff, they were able to give her two more years of cancer free life, prior to her passing.  The clinic is always clean, the staff always friendly and the care always superb.  I highly recommend this clinic, especially if you own a dog. Was not very impressed with the lack of commitment there was with our billing. We were told on two separate occasions how much our bill would be for our dog (shots) to exclude anything we really could not pay for. Came to pay and it was significantly higher than what we were told. It would have being really considerate if the staff or doctor could have approved the pricing with us a lot better as we couldn't not afford everything. I'm reviewing on behalf of my parents who are about to lose their dog of 16 yrs. They came home to her hardly breathing laying on her side. It's very obvious the end is near. They contact Mission Ridge animal HOSPITAL, the vet they have bringing this dog to her entire life. Not to mention 3 other dogs and a chameleon over the years. They contact them to arrange to have poor simba put down. It's her time. They were told they cannot "fit them in" and to wait until tomorrow. Excuse me? They tell the lady their dog needs to be put down and their suggestion was wait until the next day (simba clearly won't make it that long leaving my parents with a dead family member to deal with) or sit in the waiting room in hopes of a spot opening. What happens if no spot opened?? I was disgusted to hear of the insensitivity displayed by the lady on the phone. If you are a HOSPITAL then you should allow for emergency services. If you cannot offer those services then offer a solution. Instead of suggesting your long time client sits at home or in their waiting room with their dying dog, maybe suggest another HOSPITAL (a real one) that can assist this very sad family in sending their dog to heaven peacefully. The service at this vet clinic has gone downhill over the years (as I too have 2 dogs and used to be a client there). But this situation disgusts me and I am livid that they put my parents through that considering the reason they were calling. Needless to say my parents will not be bringing their surviving dog there anymore. I have already found a new vet as I saw the decline in service. I advise this establishment to remove the HOSPITAL from their name as they are not a hospital at all. And maybe sensitivity training for their staff because the handling of this situation was completely inappropriate. Read Less

Came to this clinic when we were evacuated from Fort Mac. They helped us get medication for our dog that has allergies even though we had no records with us. I don't normally do this, but i've had a number of pretty bad experiences here and want others to know about it.  I get the sense that they're doing whatever they can to make as much money off of you as possible.  Hope you all take the time to read this.... Where to begin...1) They recommended  their in-house "Vet Diet" Royal Canin pet food (which costs $55 a bag) after belittling Acana (something that has been recommended by many of my friends with the same breed as mine).  Just compare the ingredients on both bags and tell me what you feel more comfortable feeding your dog.  Acana is locally sourced and has all natural ingredients.. I can't even pronounce half the stuff that is in Royal Canin.   It is obvious the clinic gets some back end $$$ from these products they're trying to push.  (They even have 'truth about food' propaganda hand-outs at their front desk justifying all the crap that is in the foods they sell). 2) I had to bring my dog in for a check up because I noticed some red patches on her belly (apparently fairly normal for my breed and typically goes away and isn't a cause for alarm).  I originally had expected the regular 70 or so dollars for the visit.  Like typical fashion from coming here for a few months, I end up leaving & paying over $300.  The frustrating part about coming here is that they'll tell you what they recommend without telling you the insane costs (markup!!!) on the products/services they charge you with before you leave.  They recommended a special shampoo which was fairly pricey as well as 'Isaderm/gel' for her red patches.  Foolishly, I agreed to purchase these items, when in reality, I am certain polysporin or something much less expensive would've done the trick.  Oh, and the cost for a 15 G tube??..$50!!!  I did some research when I got home and found a website that sells it for just over $20 (and they're probably still making money off of it).  This is the website: petsdrugmart.ca/ProductI… And the straw that broke the camels back, why i'll NEVER be returning, and making sure I let as many friends as possible know about my experience:3)I had to bring my puppy in to get some pre-blood work before her spay procedure.  The blood work came back with high enzymes indicating a possible liver issue.  So they wanted to run some additional tests (a liver bile test).  Obviously extremely stressful and worried about my pup I really had no choice but to get this done ($200+).  So I book the appointment for September 2nd in the morning.  The receptionist on the phone said I can have her dropped off by 8:20 at the earliest.  Since I worked that day, I came right in the morning at said time.  Apparently they don't open until 8:30, so not sure why they mentioned 8:20.  Anyhow, after the doors open, I bring her in and the receptionist asks her name and I tell her.  She looks confused and says "we don't have you booked in until 10".  Which is odd, because 10:00 was never even brought up or talked about when I booked the appointment.  So she offers for me to come back, which I am reluctant about since you know, I have to work and what not.  She then says they can get me in.  So I end up waiting around about another 30-40 mins from what I originally intended.  They take her in and I'm relieved that I can get back in time to start working.   They say she'll be ready to pick up in a few hours.  (With this particular test, you need to fast the pup for 12 hours, they take blood when you drop her off, feed her a fatty meal and then take blood again to compare the results).  I receive a phone call a few hours later, as expected, HOWEVER... they call to tell me that THEY LOST THE INITIAL BLOOD WORK..and that she'll have to come back another day for the procedure. My heart sank.  I was/am extremely disappointed in them and more importantly, felt so bad for my puppy who was stressed out enough having to go through all this and get blood drawn for absolutely no reason. Needless to say, I had them print off my pups paper work and I will NOT be returning. Read Less

I take my corgi Quinn (aka Quinncess Pwincess) here for all her vet visits and when she got spayed too. I have to say the staff: vet tec's, and reception really make this place. They are so caring and it really shows. When I took her in to get spayed in Jan I was so worried and stressed about her surgery, but the vet tech really made me feel at ease and was just as loving to Quinn as I would be, and I really appreciated that :) Read Less
