Beware of this vet clinic
We brought our dog in cause he was shaking and vomiting and they did xrays, blood tests and couldn’t diagnose him after keeping him for 6 hours & they rant and rave all over...
Beware of this vet clinic
We brought our dog in cause he was shaking and vomiting and they did xrays, blood tests and couldn’t diagnose him after keeping him for 6 hours & they rant and rave all over their advertisements “pet wellness exam (blood&urine) to properly diagnose the best treatment for you’re pet” well they charged us $600 and never did the pet wellness exam at all. They were closing for the day & asked if we still wanted care for our dog that they told us to come pick him up and transport him to red deer. We took him to the animal emergency hospital & they gave him their own exam and concluded within 20 mins his diagnosis from a urine exam and kept him overnight to be safe for $325. Do not waste your time with this incompetent vet clinic!!! Especially don’t waste your money here you will be ripped off.... highly suggest going elsewhere. I give this place a -5 if I could. BEWARE!!!

The level of service at Blackfalds Vet Clinic is superb. Dr. Lisa Loewen is especially attentive to our concerns and our cats' overall wellbeing. She spends as much time as necessary during appointments and never makes a person feel rushed or insignificant. And the front desk staff....they can't be beat! They're very personable, upbeat and obviously love their job. I highly recommend this clinic for their exemplary level of pet care.

As a long-time pup owner, breeder and trainer, the Blackfalds clinic rocks big time with my approval. Competent, competent and competent. Did I mention competency? The staff members are always upbeat and friendly. And "The Good Doctor" is compassionate and very patient with us dog addicts. I have referred a few people with pets to the Blackfalds clinic knowing full well their cat or pooch will get the best of care. Keep up the good work. Pets are very special to many people, and have great therapeutic value. It's nice to know "their special member of the family" is being well care for at the Blackfalds clinic.

all my three little ones have been to this clinic and all have had excellent care. All three are elderly now and Spirit my white coloured tabby may have a tumour and has had a few surgeries on her decaying teeth and they have always treated her with love and patience, and as the thought of her maybe being on palliative care, my vet Dr. and assistance were all very good with me in carefully explaining everything in a gentle loving way, as they know how hard it is for us to loose our little loved ones. My dog Daniel almost died from an attack of another large dog at a dog park and through all the trauma they helped my dog and me through it. There is no other place I would go for my little love ones, there is also something to be said about the small town feel of knowing your vet and them knowing you and your pets, although my favourite veterinarian has left, I am very please another just as loving vet has taken over for her who is Dr. Hudson. I am very pleased with her and so glad my mind can be put at ease knowing my pets are still in great hands.

We really lucked out when we took our Frank to the Blackfalds Veterinary Hospital. The reception and nursing team made this high stress situation so simple, and then when Dr Loewen came to see our boy, she made me completely at ease. She took time out to call me specifically about his blood work and made me really feel secure about the issues my pug was having. Not only does the whole staff rock, but they are incredibly affordable. Thank you so much for helping us!

Since they blocked me from reviewing and commenting on their facebook page, i'll just do it here! They recently promoted the use of a tick and flea repellent called Nexgard, which is proven harmful and in numerous cases deadly! After i commented and posted a link with a newspaper article, they deleted my comment and said, it's is perfectly SAFE! I'm very disappointed with this vet clinic. One of our dogs showed significant hair and weight loss and discoloration around his eyes and nose. Initial assessment and blood sample were inconclusive, so a biopsy was performed and the tissue samples sent to a lab to check for canine lupus. The lab results were inconclusive as well, so they decided to treat for canine lupus anyways. He showed very little improvement over several weeks and they were clueless. After his condition turned to the worse and he had trouble getting up and walking stairs, they performed an x-ray with the result, that he had a tennis ball size tumor in his lung, after 3 month of treating him for the wrong disease, several visits and multiple juicy bills! After spending several sleepless nights researching, we started with natural treatments and he showed improvement. But then he turned to the worse dramatically and we decided to let him go. They refused to euthanize him at home, so we had to drag him to the clinic. I will never forget his face, he was scared and in pain. So now, 1500$ later we have the urn with our dogs remains sitting here. We will never go back to this vet! I don't know, if we could have helped our dog, if they would have diagnosed the tumor to begin with, but the whole process was more than disappointing...... Money talks here.

I couldn't afford a lot of the tests so they kept it to a minimum to get my kitties well, they had an upper respiratory infection and my darling Joey had lost a lot of weight. Dr. Loewen got them both well and Joey's weight back up with a recovery food.

Money grabbers, I couldn't get in to see them for an emergency so I needed to go to a vet clinic in red deer. Turns out my cat can not be saved after having all the tests and x rays done, this was all done the previous day to calling in again. Even with proof of that they still need to do a quality of life exam ( same cost as a regular exam) on top of the cost to put my cat down. So back to red deer I go. They also did the spaying of my dog. She had an exam, then she had her procedure and after all was said and done, the girl at the front desk tells me my dog needs her teeth cleaned very badly and that will be another 700 +. Had I been told this before they put her under after her exam for the surgery it would have cost very little. Poor customer service. Also they did not clean the area where her incision was. They cut back the hair but even a baby wipe would have taken the dirt off.

Very impressed. First, evening appointments past 5pm are wonderful. Second, every single staff member was lovely. Finally, I really appreciate a vet who treats your pet calmly but doesn't try to sell you a ton of stuff when a couple scoops of pumpkin or some polysporin eye drops might work.
We left our other vet for that reason and came here on a friend's recommendation and I'm so glad we did.
Our dog has never been this chill during a vet visit ever. They're fantastic.

It's been just over a week (Friday, Oct 14th) since I called in with a very sick little dog. I didn't have an appointment but the girls had me bring in Mika for Dr. Copeland to examine in between appointments. It was a devastating afternoon and evening when I was called with the bad news after blood tests and an ultra-sound revealing a very very sick dog. Dr. Copeland answered all my questions and discussed options. She made it possible for me to bring Mika home for the weekend and to make my decision as to what to do. With a very heavy heart I decided there was too much going on in her little body and I needed to let her go, for her sake, not mine. On Monday we went back in, Mika's last visit to the Vets. <3 Dr. Dixon was very comforting and reassuring. Giving me all the time I needed and explaining each step of the process and how Mika would feel throughout it. This is the second pet I have had to say good bye to, and have gone to Blackfalds Veterinary Hospital for both. Their love and care for animals is very evident and comforting. This is a calling for them, not just a job. I appreciate their support when I have had to make these difficult decisions and have treated both my pets and myself with great care. I highly recommend them for the care of your furry family members.

On behalf of Hope Lives Here Animal Rescue Society, we want to thank Blackfalds Vet for the incredible care they have given our animals over the past 2+ years. They really care about each animal we bring in, regardless of the amount of care needed, and treat them like their own. The Doctors and Staff also treat our volunteers wonderful and explain everything clearly and in great detail to them so they understand. They help us frequently with our spay and neuter program and believe in the work we do. We leave our rescue animals (mostly dogs) at the Hospital knowing they will get the best, most professional care we could ask for. We absolutely love the Doctors, Tech and Support Staff at Blackfalds Vet Hospital and highly suggest them!

As a long-time pup owner, breeder and trainer, the Blackfalds clinic rocks big time with my approval. Competent, competent and competent. Did I mention competency? The staff members are always upbeat and friendly. And "The Good Doctor" is compassionate and very patient with us dog addicts. I have referred a few people with pets to the Blackfalds clinic knowing full well their cat or pooch will get the best of care. Keep up the good work. Pets are very special to many people, and have great therapeutic value. It's nice to know "their special member of the family" is being well care for at the Blackfalds clinic.

all my three little ones have been to this clinic and all have had excellent care. All three are elderly now and Spirit my white coloured tabby may have a tumour and has had a few surgeries on her decaying teeth and they have always treated her with love and patience, and as the thought of her maybe being on palliative care, my vet Dr. and assistance were all very good with me in carefully explaining everything in a gentle loving way, as they know how hard it is for us to loose our little loved ones. My dog Daniel almost died from an attack of another large dog at a dog park and through all the trauma they helped my dog and me through it. There is no other place I would go for my little love ones, there is also something to be said about the small town feel of knowing your vet and them knowing you and your pets, although my favourite veterinarian has left, I am very please another just as loving vet has taken over for her who is Dr. Hudson. I am very pleased with her and so glad my mind can be put at ease knowing my pets are still in great hands.

She took time out to call me specifically about his blood work and made me really feel secure about the issues my pug was having. Since they blocked me from reviewing and commenting on their facebook page, i'll just do it here! They recently promoted the use of a tick and flea repellent called Nexgard, which is proven harmful and in numerous cases deadly! After i commented and posted a link with a newspaper article, they deleted my comment and said, it's is perfectly SAFE! I'm very disappointed with this vet clinic. One of our dogs showed significant hair and weight loss and discoloration around his eyes and nose. Initial assessment and blood sample were inconclusive, so a biopsy was performed and the tissue samples sent to a lab to check for canine lupus. The lab results were inconclusive as well, so they decided to treat for canine lupus anyways. He showed very little improvement over several weeks and they were clueless. After his condition turned to the worse and he had trouble getting up and walking stairs, they performed an x-ray with the result, that he had a tennis ball size tumor in his lung, after 3 month of treating him for the wrong disease, several visits and multiple juicy bills! After spending several sleepless nights researching, we started with natural treatments and he showed improvement. But then he turned to the worse dramatically and we decided to let him go. They refused to euthanize him at home, so we had to drag him to the clinic. I will never forget his face, he was scared and in pain. So now, 1500$ later we have the urn with our dogs remains sitting here. We will never go back to this vet! I don't know, if we could have helped our dog, if they would have diagnosed the tumor to begin with, but the whole process was more than disappointing...... Money talks here.

I couldn't afford a lot of the tests so they kept it to a minimum to get my kitties well, they had an upper respiratory infection and my darling Joey had lost a lot of weight. Dr. Loewen got them both well and Joey's weight back up with a recovery food.

Money grabbers, I couldn't get in to see them for an emergency so I needed to go to a vet clinic in red deer. Turns out my cat can not be saved after having all the tests and x rays done, this was all done the previous day to calling in again. Even with proof of that they still need to do a quality of life exam ( same cost as a regular exam) on top of the cost to put my cat down. So back to red deer I go. They also did the spaying of my dog. She had an exam, then she had her procedure and after all was said and done, the girl at the front desk tells me my dog needs her teeth cleaned very badly and that will be another 700 +. Had I been told this before they put her under after her exam for the surgery it would have cost very little. Poor customer service. Also they did not clean the area where her incision was. They cut back the hair but even a baby wipe would have taken the dirt off.

Very impressed. First, evening appointments past 5pm are wonderful. Second, every single staff member was lovely. Finally, I really appreciate a vet who treats your pet calmly but doesn't try to sell you a ton of stuff when a couple scoops of pumpkin or some polysporin eye drops might work.
We left our other vet for that reason and came here on a friend's recommendation and I'm so glad we did.
Our dog has never been this chill during a vet visit ever. They're fantastic.

It's been just over a week (Friday, Oct 14th) since I called in with a very sick little dog. I didn't have an appointment but the girls had me bring in Mika for Dr. Copeland to examine in between appointments. It was a devastating afternoon and evening when I was called with the bad news after blood tests and an ultra-sound revealing a very very sick dog. Dr. Copeland answered all my questions and discussed options. She made it possible for me to bring Mika home for the weekend and to make my decision as to what to do. With a very heavy heart I decided there was too much going on in her little body and I needed to let her go, for her sake, not mine. On Monday we went back in, Mika's last visit to the Vets. <3 Dr. Dixon was very comforting and reassuring. Giving me all the time I needed and explaining each step of the process and how Mika would feel throughout it. This is the second pet I have had to say good bye to, and have gone to Blackfalds Veterinary Hospital for both. Their love and care for animals is very evident and comforting. This is a calling for them, not just a job. I appreciate their support when I have had to make these difficult decisions and have treated both my pets and myself with great care. I highly recommend them for the care of your furry family members.

On behalf of Hope Lives Here Animal Rescue Society, we want to thank Blackfalds Vet for the incredible care they have given our animals over the past 2+ years. They really care about each animal we bring in, regardless of the amount of care needed, and treat them like their own. The Doctors and Staff also treat our volunteers wonderful and explain everything clearly and in great detail to them so they understand. They help us frequently with our spay and neuter program and believe in the work we do. We leave our rescue animals (mostly dogs) at the Hospital knowing they will get the best, most professional care we could ask for. We absolutely love the Doctors, Tech and Support Staff at Blackfalds Vet Hospital and highly suggest them!
