The veterinarian there dr Iong who was there for the other vet today was extremely caring with my cat Luna even though she wiggles a lot and wouldn't stay still she was having diarrhea and vomiting the night before and he was extremely patient and caring with her and tried to make her comfortable because it was her first time going to the vet I can't wait to take her back next year to get her shots again because reception and the veterinarian was extremely friendly and courteous !!! I've been wanting to write a review for a while. These people are amazing. We have been taking our two cats there since the day we got them and we have never had an issue. Their prices are fantastic and I did a lot of shopping around. They really don't try to sell you anything you don't need. The best way I can describe it is that they have such good prices because they care about the animals and want people to be able to afford good care. Any issues, such as swelling around an injection site, and they would gladly see the cats again at no extra charge, and they always want an update. After our female got spayed, she had a lot of swelling and they were on top of that and made sure she was ok. After a couple of emergencies (which weren't done here) they always followed up and made sure to ask the next time we saw them if there were any issues. The staff is very friendly. The doctors take their time and we have never felt rushed. They are just great! They don't do emergency stuff, they are a very small clinic, so do know where you can go in case of an emergency. The receptionist is horribly miserable and rude, I won't be going back. I only go there to buy pet food, but will go elsewhere from now on. If that's who you choose to represent your clinic I don't know how you can have happy clients. Read Less

This is our neighborhood Vet. We enjoyed the convenience of the location...however I did notice the prices of our dog food and medictation to be a little expensive. I went to the Beddington animal hospital to compare the prices out of curiosity. I went back to the clinic today to ask if there may have been a mistake with their price list. They are $23 more expensive for a 10kg bag food. The medication was also more expensive by at least $50. The receptionist informed me that they get the product then mark it up. She then said they do not price match and will not be changing the prices. I told her I could understand a few dollars difference in price but with such a difference in could only assume there was a mistake, she said it is no mistake. I was disappointed in her response and responded that I would like my dogs records (for the past 4 years) she said no problem and offered to send them to my clinic of choice. It's too bad as I figured I would be fair and have the conversation being hopefull we could remain patients of the clinic. I wonder if the owner sees this review if they have a different attitude toward the situation. Ha also noticed my truck is in their parking lot on Google Street view. Read Less

Very kind and supportive staff. The vets here are excellent. They genuinely care for your animal's wellbeing and I never felt like they were just trying to sell services or grab money like some other vet clinics do. A down to earth and compassionate clinic. Read Less

Tried to book an appointment and was told that because they only have one vet and one technician that they couldn't sedate my dog for x rays when it is very simple to just give a needle to my don't Lol no rocket science here people Read Less

Tried to make an appt for my dog for a possible ear infection (I've taken him here before) and the receptionist asked me if we had a "regular" vet? If so, take him there. WTH?! Dr. Skelley is his regular vet.... we're not there every month, but he's the regular vet. The Vets are good. But I've never heard of a receptionist turn clients away. Disrespectful!!! I went to this vet once (and never again!). Their receptionist needs some etiquette lessons. I called to advise that I decided to go with another vet for a variety of reasons.  I had tests done and was requesting to have the results transferred.  As soon as i mentioned this, the receptionist turned cold.  First off, she had the need to advise me that she didn't know short-hand (with sarcasm in her voice) and could i speak slower.  And then she proceeded, in quite a stand-offish tone, to tell me that they might get to this transfer tomorrow, but maybe not until next week. I suggested i could pick them up and she said, whatever you want. Seriously?! Then I gave her feedback that part of the reason I was leaving is that I was surprised by the cost of my visit and when I called around and chatted with others about similar procedures, they were also shocked at the price. She said, "well we certainly don't strive to be the cheapest."  I gave her an example that their insulin is twice the price as other vets I called. As my dog's condition will require numerous vet visits, I knew I had to find a reasonably priced vet with good reviews.  Well, this really set her off double; she didn't like my feedback and responded in a very snotty tone "and if you're unhappy here then you're better off somewhere else." Wow, seriously, my dog has just been diagnosed with a serious, long-term condition and this is the response I get because I'm choosing to be mindful of cost and care at the same time.  Where is the empathy and customer service? I'm so glad I found this out now.  I'm so sorry that my dog is sick and that I hurt your feelings, It's time they hired someone who behaved a mature fashion. Best vet I've ever been to. Took my cat to an all-night emergency clinic after he was injured. Went to Bowmont vet clinic (our usual vet) for all of the aftercare. Stitch removal, new meds, checkups, and other concerns for a total of FIVE appointments. I couldn't believe it but they did not charge us anything for any of these visits, even though we had the surgery done at another clinic. You will never be nickeled and dimed at this vet! Dr Skelley is extremely good with pets (and people too). He has a good manner with pet parents and makes sure all your concerns are addressed so you will actually leave his office feeling relieved. The staff also does their best to get you in that day if you call with a concern, and they aren't afraid to discuss your problem with you and give immediate advice over the phone.Read Less

The vets and staff at Bowmont offer great care for your pets, and at really reasonable prices.  They are highly compassionate and concerned, but they are also practical and don't recommend testing and other interventions unless they are truly warranted.  They are clearly in business because they love animals, not just to make a buck...it took us years to find a vet we felt comfortable with in Calgary, but now that we have, we won't go anywhere else! Dr. Skelley and staff are amazing. They never rush, and always take the best care of me and all my pets...all four of them.  That's right one more animal in the house and I tip the scale from animal lover to "that girl is one tragedy away from being a hoarder" status.We have senior cats and the staff here have been wonderful, good advice and suggestions.  Nothing is pushed on you and options are always explained.  The cats are always calm when being handled by Dr. Skelley which is a big plus for me.Great with the dogs as well.  Always interested in the small stuff and excellent at remembering any issues.  When we call to book there is always a familiarity (perhaps because I am there more than the average owner) but it is nice to feel welcome and known.  Overall this clinic has a very small town family feel to it.  The staff don't just act like they care, you really do get the feeling that they care. After just one visit I can't say enough good things about this vet and staff. Our regular vet had retired a month prior, without warning, and I was more than a little concerned when I had to find a new practice on extremely short notice. The reviews on some vets are just downright scary. Incompetence, callousness, and price gouging are just some of the many negative reviews I read in an hour long search. I decided to follow my gut after reading the 4 previous reviews here. Never made a better decision in my life. -They were patient with me and my questions over the phone and were able to book an appointment for us that afternoon. The atmosphere was pleasant and calm, as were the staff. This fact was even more appreciated given the nature of my 25 year old cat, who never responds well to the slightest of stressors under the best of circumstances. Needless to say, pain, car rides and strangers are far from her ideal. But the vet was patient (with both of us), gentle, practical and informative. This was the least stressful vet visit (for both of us) in all of my cat's 25 years of life. For the first time ever I'm no longer worried about subjecting her to exams. On behalf of Cookie and myself, much thanks to the Bowmont Animal Hospital. I only wish I had found them years ago. The cherry on the sunday is they're also affordable. :-) Read Less
