My breeder brought my Doberman here to get her ears cropped and tail fixed. Susan and Dr. Qi are amazing and so knowledgeable. The rest of the staff here are also very knowledgeable and helpful.

Each time I've dealt with Dr. Qi I found him to be very patient, he explained everything I needed to know and repeated whatever I needed him to, he was always very gentle, calm, and kind to my dog, and I think he's terrific, I have always been very satisfied with his help.
My dog had been limping for many weeks, my regular vet said nothing could be done other than putting her on glucosamine and seeing if that would help, that it was just arthritis due to her genetically twisted feet and ankle bones. But after only one acupuncture treatment with Dr. Qi she was almost limp free. She had three more treatments and never limped again, not once, right up until her death many years later.
I also took her to Dr. Qi after a bad fall for a quick checkup prior to making an appointment at his clinic for a chiropractic treatment (the emergency vet - see my review for Calgary North Vet Hospital - said she'd only twisted her back and there was nothing to be done except give it time to heal, but she seemed to be in so much pain I knew I had to try to do something else for her). Dr. Qi noted within a moment of walking into the room that there was something else very wrong with her and said I should have my regular vet check her at once. At the recheck, she ended up being immediately admitted for lifesaving surgery for internal injuries that had been missed the first time by the emergency vet, even with xrays having been taken.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this clinic, and Dr. Qi.

Had a wonderful experience here! This place was recommended to us by our Cane Corso breeder for ear cropping and we were not disappointed. Susan and Dr.Qi are very experienced and talented with all types of crops and very knowledgable.They are always available to answer our questions and concerns and followed up with us to see how our Cane Corso was doing. We can see why this place is highly recommended!
Right from the receptionist to the Doctor, every single person is very friendly and always willing to help. Sometimes you might have to wait a bit longer than your appointment time to see Susan, that's because she makes that the pet owners are educated throughly on what to do and what not to. This makes the wait worth it because you know she will do the same for you.
Will recommend this place any day for people who are concerned about their pet's well being.

My 6 year old dachshund, Ruby, lost all function of her back legs last Fall. It wa terrifying, as she was always so active and happy. I took her to our usual vet who gave us some anti-inflammatories and recommended immediate and permanent crate rest (which I also found recommended online as well). After that, the options were to get a CAT scan and see what the results were. CAT scans are quite expensive, so we were looking at $2000 just to find out what was wrong, let alone help Ruby recover.
I talked with some other dachshund owners in the city and was recommended to Dr. Qi for acupuncture. I was willing to try anything, so I called and asked about the process; prices and actual results. I was never promised anything, but the woman on the phone told me she had seen fully paralyzed dogs walk out of the clinic after acupuncture. Also, it is WAY more cost effective than I imagined it would be. So I booked Ruby in.
At our first appointment, Dr. Qi also advised me that there was no guarantee of recovery, but that we should notice improvement within a few weeks if it was working. I should also mention that my pet insurance covered a good chunk of the cost as well, so definitely claim it back if you can.
Now, 6 or so months later, you would never know that she was so immobilized. She is running, jumping, begging for walks, and SO happy! It's more difficult to keep her still during the appointments because she is doing so well! It's really been incredible. I would definitely recommend CHV, and Dr. Qi, to anyone with pups who could benefit.

We have been with Dr. Qi for the entire 9 years we've lived in Calgary. I like, so much, that they never over prescribe medication . They test the blood for immunity. The staff is always friendly and helpful. On occasion I have a challenge with understanding a point Dr. QI is trying to make, but all it takes is a little clarification on my part to get the answer I need. He takes such great care of Jake (our Boston terrier). I definitely recommend checking them outo.

My cat got out of the house and was missing for a month and a half. We luckily got him back and brought him straight to a vet. I have kids so i decided it was a good idea to de-worm him. The second treatment of dewormer my cat reacted to which is not common but i guess it does happen time to time. I brought him back in and the Dr. gave me everything i would need to make him comfortable and to help him heal. The reception made sure to follow up with me to see how he was doing and they even called the company of the product so they were aware. He still has a little wound but it is healing and looks so much better. I appreciate everything the Dr did for me and my fur baby and i appreciate the friendly reception ladies who were able to get me in when i needed to most. I will only take my pets here from now on.

I honestly cannot believe Dr. Qi is still in business and could write report on why not to take your dog here. His first priority is his business and not your pet. He misdiagnosed allergies, could not even cut my dogs nails without hitting the quick and most importantly above all things. HE MISSED THREE BURST HEART VENTRICLES ON MY DOG. NOT ONE. NOT TWO, BUT THREE AND MY DOG DIED. He could not even use a stethoscope properly. No lie in that he looked at me with a blank stare totally clueless as what to do. I tell you if you love your pet steer clear of this guy. He really should not be allowed to practice veterinary medicine. It broke my heart what happened to my dog.

One of the worst vets that I have ever dealt with. I sent over my file from the dermatologist. He was about an hour late to the consult. Didn't read my dogs file, told me it was allergies and to change his food. Do you not think that I didn't try that going to see a dermatologist. Then I told him I'm not here for him to diagnose my dog but for him to give me some Chinese medicine. He then proceeded to tell me that I am too young and that the chinese medicine is too expensive for me. Than left the consult. Went to little creek vet and got chinese medicine there. Wasted 80 dollars in the process to see Dr.Qi. a real shame.
Go to little creek vet or canine fitness if you are looking for a holistic vet.

The doctor does not clearly explain himself. I did not understand what he meant with regards to the testing procedure for my dog. As a result his condition got worse while I waited to hear back for a test that hadn't been ordered. He was very nice, but I decided not to bring my dog back because I am worried about small miscommunications affecting my dog's care in a negative way.

I initially started taking my puppy here based on the fact that it appealed to me that it was both conventional and holistic medicine. Upon our first visit the vet didn't even introduce himself and made no attempt to build a rapport. He advised me to get booster shots for my puppy but did a poor job of explaining what he was vaccinating for. I transferred to a different animal clinic and haven't been happier with the service.

If I could give a -5 star I would.I did not do my homework and read the other reviews until after my experience. The other reviewers wrote of this vet being responsible for the loss of their pet. I am not at all skeptical of this being true. This vet seemed undertrained and there is something very off about him. And he is the most expensive or more appropriately overpriced vet in North America. After I had such a strange vibe there and I read what happened to others.......I am so grateful for the others that shared their saddening experience. And also grateful because I was going to take him back for some work on his teeth. This is the last person on the planet I want messing around with anesthesia and my sweet little Chi.

Each time I've dealt with Dr. Qi I found him to be very patient, he explained everything I needed to know and repeated whatever I needed him to, he was always very gentle, calm, and kind to my dog, and I think he's terrific, I have always been very satisfied with his help.

The doctor does not clearly explain himself. I did not understand what he meant with regards to the testing procedure for my dog. As a result his condition got worse while I waited to hear back for a test that hadn't been ordered. He was very nice, but I decided not to bring my dog back because I am worried about small miscommunications affecting my dog's care in a negative way.

I initially started taking my puppy here based on the fact that it appealed to me that it was both conventional and holistic medicine. Upon our first visit the vet didn't even introduce himself and made no attempt to build a rapport. He advised me to get booster shots for my puppy but did a poor job of explaining what he was vaccinating for. I transferred to a different animal clinic and haven't been happier with the service.

As owner of A Iaptop Shoppe ,and pets Prince,pirate ,and cheeze, I really love this Vet. This office is well managed ,the staff are adorable, caring and pay attention to details. Ten year old Pirate just had 15 teeth pulled ,it went without a hitch. Pirate is happy ,and healthy . I have come here for over 20 years and am always impressed .

If I could give a -5 star I would.I did not do my homework and read the other reviews until after my experience. The other reviewers wrote of this vet being responsible for the loss of their pet. I am not at all skeptical of this being true. This vet seemed undertrained and there is something very off about him. And he is the most expensive or more appropriately overpriced vet in North America. After I had such a strange vibe there and I read what happened to others.......I am so grateful for the others that shared their saddening experience. And also grateful because I was going to take him back for some work on his teeth. This is the last person on the planet I want messing around with anesthesia and my sweet little Chi.
