I have been going to this clinic with my cats for more than 20 years. I was always happy with my vets, Dr. McCarthy and then Dr. Pytka (after Dr. McCarthy retired) and now Dr. Pytka is gone. I didn't feel that they were upfront with me when they told me that she left.  When I booked an appointment for my cat I had to see a different vet. Here's what happened: my cat did not respond to this gentleman very well and he didn't seem to have the personality to calm my cat down. This had never been a problem in the past. Highly recommend Dr. Carlos Rodriguez!! My kitty is a big, affectionate lump. Usually. But he is terrified at the vet and has been designated a dangerous animal by other vets. Dr. Rodriguez approached my kitty slowly, calmly, and with great gentleness. I am so grateful that a vet visit need not be traumatic for all involved. Dr. Rodriguez was also really wonderful with my other cat. He called me after hours with lab results and was very knowledgeable and professional. Also Stella at the front desk is awesome! Both myself and a friend have used this vet recently and also in the past. I had taken my 14 year old cat there after noticing a bleeding spot on her stomach. I first saw Dr. Carlos Rodriguez and he had examed her and indicated "it was not good" that she had 1 large Tumor on her stomach and 2 smaller ones; also the area was infected. When I asked he thought it was cancer he said it probably was because of the number of masses, and he could give her a antibiotic shot. I agreed right away and he then told me that "there was nothing else he could do" & told me to bring her back in after 10 days and I was to put a plastic cone over her head to avoid her licking the area. Then they would look at doing surgery to remove the tumors and spend them in for testing; to see if in fact it was cancer. I did as he instructed and she had stopped eating about 2 days before bringing her back in on Saturday afternoon. Her breathing had also changed and she wasn't acting like her normal affectionate self. I saw another lady Dr. This time and she recommended a chest X-ray because of her breathing. I agreed and found out she had fluid in her lungs which was causing her breathing difficulties. She had also said it looked like the cancer had moved into her lungs which was causing the fluid. She then directed that I take her to the animal emergency clinic or I should put her down that same day. I was completely devastated, as she was my baby and it was a lot to take in that moment. I was crying and wanted to take her home until Monday and have a bit more time with her & think about what I should do. The female Dr. was pushing me to put her down that same day and not to wait. Telling me "she had no quality of life and she was suffering." Not really knowing what to do I agreed to have her put to sleep then, as I loved her very much and didn't want to see her suffer or in pain. Looking back I should have followed my first reaction and bought her home and consulted another second opinion. Also that first male Dr. should have advised & directed me to take immediate steps to diagnose; if in fact if she had cancer or not. Within that 10 days it had spread into her lungs :( I had also talked to the manager of the vet clinic that following Monday and indicated my concerns. She mentioned that she would have to follow his notes, that he had written; saying that he had recommended more tests that same day. This is fraud and he is falsely fabricating the actual facts of that day. I'm not happy that they have this Dr. & another Dr. Pushing clients into putting their pets down. My other friend who had also taken his cat there had another bad experience with this Dr. Rodriguez. Putting your pets down is a life changing and major decision. From my experience take a day or 2 or get a second opinion. There are your babies, once they are gone, your whole world changes. I no longer trust this vet, and will be bring my other cat to another vet for his medical health needs. Read Less

We brought our newly adopted kitten to Dr. Christian for an annual checkup and some booster shots. Dr. Christian was very informative and patient in answering all our questions and went above and beyond to address our concerns. He spent a good hour with us discussing all aspects of cats health and good feeding habits etc. He also provided honest opinions about food brands and shots and never pushed us into buying stuff from them which was much appreciated. Prices are competitive also. The only downside was the staff at the front desk were not the most personable or friendly, but the vet definitely made up for the lacking. I wanted to extend a huge thank you to Dr. Joanna Pytka and her staff. I was incredibly worried when I took my cat Missy into see her. My cat is old and I was afraid that I would have to say goodbye to her. This was sheer agony for me. Dr. Pytka took her time to ensure that the cat was comfortable before she proceeded with the examination. She provided me with an array of options and I am happy to say that I was able to bring my baby home with me. Dr. Jones has been our vet for over two years now for our 3 dogs. They have always been amazing but when we had to deal with our beloved Border Collie getting cancer, that's when they truly shined. They were so compassionate during a very difficult time. They took us in immediately in an emergency situation and they never rush our appointments. They take the time to answer all of our questions. I have been using Macleod Trail Animal Hospital for almost 15 years now - and boy do I have a pack of various dogs, from small Frenchies and big Rotties - all treated with the same love and knowledge. The team of caring vets are not only genuine caring, they are knowledgeable and always learning new things to share with you as a client. Although they sell vet food, they also will support whatever you feed your dogs, and did not flinch or itch when told some of our pack was on Raw. I trust Dr. Mcconkey and his care to think for the human and the dog - and not about the bottom line. He is successful for that reason - he truly cares for all his clients - you aren't a dollar sign or number. They do not rush you, the front staff are relaxed and sweet (unlike many other vets!) - and as a pet care professional who has seen many, they are like no other. We were recommended to see Dr. Pytka at this hospital for a second opinion before we put our dog through unnecessary surgery, our baby was treated with antibiotics for an infection and she's doing great. Dr. Pytka is amazing!!! We are so fortunate to have found a vet who loves and cares about the animal's health and is very knowledgeable. We were recommended to this vet by a friend for our aging dog who required dental surgery. They took the very best care of him and a week later is healing wonderfully. I have trusted these vets & techs with 2 dogs over the past 25 years. Our current wonderful dog has had 18 puppies in 2 litters & is now 14.5 years old. Even though my dog is 16, we've only been bringing him to see Dr. Pytka for about six years. I really am completely grateful for all the hard work that the vet has put in to keeping my dog alive.When we got my dog we never neutered him; he is a Beagle so we never let him outside off leash since he'd probably run away trying to discover new scents; therefore we never worried about accidental puppies. Unfortunately this led to some growths on his tail and around his rear. Dr. Pytka has now performed four surgeries on him, all at shockingly reasonable prices I might add. His most recent surgery we didn't believe would be possible since he's too nervous to do surgery without anesthetics, but too old to wake up from them. The vet gave him some anti-biotics that shrunk the growth enough to make it possible to do surgery with only local freezing. The most important thing Dr. Pytka has done for us was to diagnose my dog's stroke correctly 18 months ago. When my dog was walking around like he was drunk, we thought it was time to put him down, but she gave him some meds and now he's still around, slightly weak, but just ask active as always.  Along with how awesome Dr. Pytka is, their staff in general is really knowledgeable, polite, and clearly love pets, so I absolutely trust them with my dog. They also have really good food selection there. Considering how much food my dog eats, we can tell he really enjoys it, and it's one that is good for his old man stomach so that's a bonus. Read Less
