Just went to Marda Loop Veterinary Centre for the first time. Everyone was extremely nice and welcoming. I saw Dr. Penni Murphy with my 7 year old cat. She was very friendly and informative and did not rush the appointment. I never felt pressured into any procedures or tests and the prices for vaccines and blood work were never hidden. She was very kind and gentle with my cat and my cat ended up cuddling in my arms, even during his shots. Very happy with our appointment ! Thank you! Read Less

I have been taking my large dog here for just about 2 years now. It is very convenient to the Marda Loop area, with evening appointments, and very helpful and friendly staff! Dr. Stacie and Dr. Diaz have both been incredible. I got my dog altered at another clinic as it was much less expensive ($400 less) however, the other clinic was much less convenient so it depends on your priorities. I would just recommend shopping around for a standard procedure like that. Read Less

I have been coming to this clinic with my dog for almost 6 years. I only continue to come because the vets and techs here are very nice and informative and I know my dog is well taken care of. However the front desk/reception staff are rude every time I come in. They are extremely slow and inefficient checking people/pets in and out. It’s definitely not a very welcoming place when you are coming and going. People spend a lot of money here for their pets so they should be treated much better than they are by reception staff. I took my new puppy here after she got off the plane from Mexico- after a concern about blood in her stool and a bald spot on her back. They were very accommodating by getting me in straight away. Following this, while examining our puppy, the doctor was very informative and telling me the possibilities, the costs of the tests etc., She helped me decide the least expensive options for tests and treatments, trying to cover all the symptoms. After a pretty large bill (larger than i anticipated) she was prescribed a lot of medications and for a stool sample to be done. The main part of the bill was of course the treatments. I received a call 3 days after dropping off the sample, saying that they did find a parasite. All i had to do was pop in and pick up a bit more medication just to ensure the parasite is taken care of! - and just direction to keep an eye on the symptoms. Very nice. The staff is all super friendly and made my puppy and i feel very comfortable. I have been told by friends and family that I may have been over charged, however after looking at the invoice the charges do seem fair because of all the medication she is on to clear up symptoms. Overall, very happy with how things turned out and my puppy is already feeling better after a little bit of medication! so it seems to be worth the $! Read Less

We have been coming to Marda Loop for over 3 years. We recently were in for one of our dogs’ annual checkup and vaccinations and saw Dr Penni Murphy. Dr Penni is wonderful. She is very professional, knowledgeable and thorough in her examination. Her communication skills are excellent and she is so willing to spend time with her clients and their pets. Although not required for this recent visit, we know from previous times that Dr Penni’s surgical skills are top notch. We are so pleased to have such a wonderful clinic for our dogs. My long time vet moved so we were on the hunt for a new vet and since I lived close to Marda Loop Vet, it seemed logical to try here. I brought my dog in for his very first visit last week and we saw Dr. Ashley. She is absolutely amazing. Such a kind lady and you can really tell how much she loves her job. She followed up with me over email regarding a specialist appointment for my dog which really impressed me. Excellent communication. Highly recommend. All the staff here are lovely. I tried this clinic originally because it was more affordable than the ones in our area. Brenda at the desk was incredible, she was so compassionate about my case and made it feel like I'd known her forever. Dr Stacie was amazing.. she was so knowledgeable yet extremely realistic while being sensitive and compassionate. Unfortubately one of our pets was battling asthma and cancer, but the ongoing treatment and support from this clinic was outstanding. Visited MLVC for rehabilitation care for my dog following a complex spinal surgery. While I was initially skeptical of the treatment protocols, the results were amazing. My pup went from completely immobile to walking within a month and I give a huge amount of credit to the rehab from MLVC as the biggest reason behind this. Great people, great services. We have had several visits to this centre. Each time we have received fabulous service. From the ladies at reception to the amazing Doctors. We had to say goodbye to one very loved cat a few months back. Dr Sara Wick was so empathetic and even sent a beautiful card the following week saying how sorry she was for our loss. We now have a active 6 month old kitten. He underwent surgery last week and had some complications. Again, the care he received was excellent and also the follow up. Cat has ruptured gland on his butt. Everyone at the vet was very helpful with info, and timing of his surgery. They were also very helpful when our cat decided to take his cone off and start ripping out stitches. We took him back for a second surgery in 1 week, and again everyone was very helpful and made the situation very easy for us. Ivana was very nice when talking to her, and we can tell that all employees at Marda loop vet really Care for animals. Love all the vets here and won't take my dogs or cat anywhere else. This is the only vet clinic that I have ever known to help a family pay for services by offering payment plans. This was a life saver for us! While my dog was going thru all her issues I must have dealt with everyone there and they are all great! It's rare you find people who love what they do and enjoy working so much. It was nice to feel like we had some friends to laugh with to help deal with the stressful times. Marda Loop Veterinary Centre is absolutely the best vet my French Bulldog and I have ever been to. Penni was intuitive enough to take appropriate steps to catch a disease my pup has early on, which ultimately saved her life. My Frenchie has a cervical spine issue. I asked my clinic to refer us to Marda Loop Veterinary Centre. Sometimes I make the best choices without even knowing. Our experience there started well. Checked in on time, they even thanked me for being a bit early. When we saw Dr. Laura Romano she was very patient and kind. She took time to answer all my questions and I didn't feel rushed at all. We agreed to a treatment plan which included one free hydrotherapy session for Lola!! Dr. Laura went out to make arrangements for that and for a vet tech (I think) to show us some exercises. I was so thrilled that I bent down to pick up my Bully. That's when I threw out my back. Badly. I could barely walk out. I was literally in tears. Dr. Romano and her staff, I think your name is Amanda? If not please forgive my error.......both went above and beyond. Amanda carried Lola to my car, followed me home and lifted her out safely. Lola can't jump right now and I was unable to help her. They've still not even contacted me for the payment I tried to make on the way out and this was our first visit there. The office has gone completely downhill since a majority of the good vets left. Left for reasons you'll soon be privy to if you dare take your animals to this office now and risk not getting proper care and/or paying a small fortune.For one full year they misdiagnosed my dog, yet had no problem taking $ from me each visit! (Each visit they recommended be every 2-3 weeks so they could swab my dogs ear and tell me it was infected (which is wasn't) and bill me for more of the same anti-biotic and drops they would prescribe)I had finally had enough and decided to go back to Dr. Wanda who was originally at his office but took up space in Fish Creek now. Within 5 minutes I had the PROPER diagnosis and feel silly for not following Wanda in the first place. I called Marda Loop Vets and asked me to transfer my file over and after 8 days even THAT wasn't done. When did veterinarians stop caring about animals and become about selling "their" food, and prescribing "this and that" for a money-grab? Read Less

We needed an apt quick and our regular vet could not get us in today. We called Mardaloop and they were really nice and got us in right away. My dog is big and clumsy and I usually get stressed about having to bring him into the vet because he gets SO excited and he is a chatty Bulldog. Instead of feeling awkward we were welcomed with so much love (and treats). The Veterinarian took a lot of extra time to complete his treatment and was very knowledgeable. She explained the cause and effects of my dogs issues and how to treat both naturally and through vet care. Cost was reasonable and everyone we dealt with start to finish was professional and kind. After my experience last Thursday, I would have given this vet clinic a 5 star rating. My dog had a severe allergic reaction to her routine shot and the staff handled it beautifully. They told me to wait until Monday to give my dog her deworming pills in case she had another reaction because this way they were open and could take care of her. I did as I was told and she ended up getting very sick again. When I called the vet office and told them of her situation they told me I should go to the emergency centre which costs $160 instead of helping her like they said they would. I'm now extremely disappointed and will not be returning. Read Less

I had been going here for years for vet care and food. Until my dog got sick and needed to be seen. Barb at the front desk denied me an appointment three times when i desperately needed my dog to be seen. She actually said "you'll have to take him somewhere else".  I did and he was in renal failure and had end stage lymphoma. Thanks Barb! We had to go though the most heart wrenching experience ever with strangers. And to the manager who thinks one profanity in a second email (he didn't have the decency to respond to my first one) is more important than finding out what went wrong in our case i stand by my comment that got us deleted. These people LOVE pets. It shows in every interaction I have with them: from setting up appointments, to examinations, to quick concerns answered over the phone. The entire staff always treats my cats with kindness and care, especially Dr. Cathy. She is attentive and friendly, and gives 100% of her skills and care to each patient. She listens to all my concerns, no matter how busy the clinic is that day, and will recommend treatments, products, or advice only if she confidently feels they are the right thing to do in the situation at hand. My cats, when they are in the office in her company, are relaxed and very happy, and that speaks volumes about her wonderful professionalism and bedside manner. By far the best vet we have ever been to. We have owned pets for over twenty years and lived in many areas. During that time we had some wonderful vets that we thought we could never replace. After moving to Calgary this year we needed a new vet. Dr. Cathy was wonderful. She took great care of our very needy golden doodle and explained everything she did, read all of the old vet records, and took the time to get to know us and our dog. When I moved to Calgary this clinic was the only Veterinary's Office in the city offering Alternative Medicine for animals. Since my cat was suffering from Eosinophilic Granuloma Complex and on a strict naturopathic diet, we started seeing Dr. Vockeroth.13 years and a couple of pets later we continue to drive across the city to seek out Dr. Vockeroth. She is the epitome of what a Veterinarian should be, remarkable, kind, caring and compassionate. Although we only stop in once every year or two for checkups, we are grateful to have found this place. Our current little mountain lion descendants love it there to.Marda Loop offers conventional, rehabilitative and alternative medicine options. It is very busy and you may find trying to get an appointment takes awhile. But it is worth it. Read Less

Wonderful vets and vet techs.  I took my golden retvr. to a number of differnent conventional vets and vet clinics looking for a solution to her itching and constant ear infections that didn't involve daily antihistamines and steroids.  Dr Vockeroth prescribed a home prepared diet, (instead of trying to sell me food stocked by the clinic like the other places,)  some vitamin supplements, and some herbs.  My dear dog is now healthy, happy and comfortable.  These people are smart, compassionate, and able to think outside the box.  The care here is worth every penny. My dog -- many of you know and love him -- has a chiropractor. Yes, that is what I said. We aren't sure when Shep took a spill and slipped something in his back but he's been stiff and sore for a few weeks. My friend, Dana, a vet tech, recommended Dr. Laura Romano at this centre. Dr. Laura had worked on Dana's first Berner, Dekker, and his uncle, Jackson.So, we already knew we were in good hands.Dr. Laura doesn't just do a great job in calming the animal, she talks a fretful owner through the entire procedure. Shep has a slipped disc and Dr. Laura ever so gently worked it back into place as best she could. Shep is sore -- as we all are the day after an adjustment -- so I have to keep an eye on his progress. We have a followup appointment next week.The staff at the clinic are super nice and friendly, from answering the phone and giving a rundown of the treatment procedure to greeting us at the door and making a fuss over the gentlest, most handsome boy in the world.The clinic itself is hard to get to.
