DOCTOR…Let me first begin with the doctor himself, Dr. Sandhu, this gentleman is a man of integrity, a right-minded person. He is what I call a "tell-it-like-it-is" person, much like myself. I like to know exactly what the truth is, I don't want polished or generic words, just plain down home truth is what I need. No Dr. Sandhu won't waste words with you but what you will receive from this Veterinarian is truth throughout and this is a man who acts quickly, gets down to business, a caring individual who puts your pet first, yes he's all about the animal and that folks is definitely reflected in the price. I asked my son this morning, what is one word that you would use to describe Dr. Sandhu and I smiled large at the answer. He said with a huge smile on his face "Awesome". ENTRANCE…Definitely small, we're coming right in from the street so our feet touch the floor immediately, pretty difficult to keep up with the flow I'm sure. I'm not looking for polished, glimmer and shined up spaces, decent is all that's required. I'm aware of what my surroundings are. What I'm looking for is a feeling, how do I feel upon entering that space so I stay silent and I listen, a great combination by the way, since both words share the same letters…Smiling…If a customer is before me, I like that, I listen and I observe. FRONT END LADIES…In my observation I'm expecting a smile, simple as that. I'm listening for tone, is the receptionist friendly, is she soft, is she speaking with care in her voice, is she offering comfort. I found all of that to be true on my first visit with Ashley and her smile gave me a sense of, yes this is the place where I want to be. My second visit with Maddiey, I was again greeted with a smile, bubbly and friendly conversation, very helpful as well and doing her best to make it easier for my pets release by suggesting we save him steps, I liked that very much. Both ladies a delight…thumbs up! ladies. AMAZING ASSISTANT…Mitchell, oh my gosh, can it get any better, this young gent made me feel good. I'm a Senior and I'm use to people forgetting that I exist. This young man involved me, he gave my son and myself equal attention. He, with his remarkable demeanor was obviously raised by beautiful people. He realized that we are all worthy of attention and I thank him for that. He handled my pet, Blaze with care, a gentle soul with caring words to boot and kept coming back to check on him, thank you Mitchell. MY DOG BLAZE…He is now resting peacefully at home, he's eating well, he's feeling good and he's happy. Without such teamwork at this amazing clinic, I know I wouldn't have Blaze with me today. I have a hard time understanding where all the positive comments are from!! The only thing good about this vet are the prices. But...You get what you pay for. I have never seen a clinic so filthy, and unsanitary in my life!! They have no proof of education or diplomas visible or even on site(I asked) When asking for credentials I was faced with a very irate and confrontational response. All my pets aside from my ferret have been seen here, they've generally been pretty great about my animals and any things we need. They've accommodated us when we had an emergency cost we couldn't afford and they've always been fairly knowledgeable. They are cheaper than most vets in the city thankfully, and the staff is usually fairly friendly. I find it to be a little less personal and welcoming looking when you come in even the waiting room is very cold abd doctors office like unlike some vets but it's not a huge issue. Read Less

Both my dogs and both my cats go to this vet, as well as several family and friends vets. They have always been polite, friendly and extremely good with all my animals. My rottie cross was severely abused before he came to us and when I mentioned this to the vet he took the time to let my pup get comfortable with him before giving him his shots. I also never had any hidden fees or issues with my female American bullys spay, they took good care of her and did an amazing job on a dog that had had a litter of pups, gave me the extra pain meds I requested and did an amazing job on her incision, she has since healed nice. Pretty good place. Have taken my dog here since he was 9 weeks old for shots and nail clipping. Receptionist is very nice. The guy veterinarian is not very helpful at all. For my dogs recent 3rd shots (Saturday, March 17, @1pm) I asked the veterinarian to check my dog to see if there was something wrong with his bowls and such since my dog has had diarrhea for over a week (has now turned into projectile poop and is now vomiting, the veterinarian hasn't done anything, sent us on our way, ignored us. I leave for my hometown this week and have a friend watching my dog and I don't want her to have to suffer what he's going through. Can't even afford for him to go back right away and get checked so I'm going to have to deal with this even longer. 100% going to a different vet soon for him to get checked because this veterinarian doesn't want to look at my dog. This clinic stayed open late to accommodate my mothers transportation dilemma. The animal's condition was deteriorating quickly and It was determined euthanasia was required. The vet was understanding and the assistant was kind and sympathetic. I really appreciate the care taken of my mothers feelings and the suffering of the animal. Took my pup here cause he was rubbing his butt on the ground. Asked how much for a physical, they gave the price. Said that was fine. Vet barely said a word. He then proceeded to check my dogs butt, told me it was his anal glands then charged me way over the amount. Even when I wasn't aware of the extra charge until it was to late. Horrible. I experienced very friendly and informative service via phone. The male on the phone was more than happy to answer my questions, and offered additional information about one of the vaccines, which I am glad to now know! He did not rush me, or come across as bothered by my inquiries -- letting me know I could call anytime with questions. My dog had two tumors one on his chest and another on his rear anal gland. Dr Sandhu operated on both for a reasonable price and put a few years on my 13 year old huskys life. Took my cat here two years ago with upper respiratory problems. They gave her a quick glance over, told me to put in some eye drops and sent me off, saying it was a bacterial infection. This didnt fix the issue. I took her to a different place recently and my cat recieved so much more care, pain medicine, and a cone for no extra. I've been dealing with this vet clinic for over 10 years now. Dr. Sandhu has been so wonderful to all my fur babies. I asked him one day why he charges so little he said " I charge enough to keep my staff paid and my practice open". In my eyes this vet is for the animals and not out to get rich fast. Ive taken 2 dogs to this place for various services. Never had any problems. Best price in Calgary. Paid $200 for neuter and chip on a small dog. Don't play Russian Roulette with your baby. Take them to another clinic. This clinic has no idea what they are doing. My former Foster Cat was taken here for a crystal blockage. Instead of a catheter they pushed the urine out and left him with an IV overnight. The next night he was of course still blocked. They put the catheter in and tore his urethra. I was able to take over guardianship of my foster cat from his current guardians, I took him to my vet, they tried their best but they couldn't fix the torn urethra which happened at this clinic. My biggest regret is listening to someone who says this is a good vet and advising his guardians to take him here. They aren't. They wouldn't even help my former foster cat, who was crying in pain until the full $600 was paid and then they messed it all up. My dog was feeling sick and was having diarrhoea, i took him to this clinic and they gave me some dog food saying that this will make him better. Needless to say my dog's health got worse and his diarrhoea became worse also. I came back to the clinic to return the food because it made my dog more sick. They had originally given me a bunch of cans but I only opened one. They refused to refund me but not only that but they talked rudely to me and acted as tho my dog's health didn't concern them. We took our dog here for cherry eye. After the visit my dog couldn't breath well and vomiting that turned into blood. We took him back to the Vet right away. They told us the his thraot has collapsed! Wrong! They dont clean there equiment, my dog thraot was cut when inserting the breathing tool and then he had a bad infection. This happen Friday took him to McKnight 24hr on sunday and we had to put him down on MondayDO NOT GO HERE!!! The vets get training from another vet in the SE and have only taken like a 3 month course!! I was floor when I found this out. I've been a client for over 10 years. I'm the guardian of a large brood of animals. Years ago it was 4 cats now its 2 XL breed dogs and 3 cats. Over the years I've trusted and relied on the expertise of this clinic because they came highly recommended by friends. Through the course of my animals life spans they have managed regular vaccinations, spaying and neutering, emergency surgery and general concerns and education. A pet guardian always has an over protective instinct for their beloved animal and in crisis the emotions over ride the logic and science of events concerning the well being of a pet. Sometimes the truth isn't what you want to hear but I've always had the vet team explain the situation and options available and the cost involved to educate me for an informed decision for treatment. There is some language and accent comprehension challenges but they take the time to explain things so you are informed. The honesty offered by the team and services at an affordable rate have kept me an a client long term. Please don't go to this clinic. I went because it was cheaper than any other vet clinic but obviously the reason is because they have awful vets...if they are even trained properly. The first time we went there with our dog, it wasn't bad at all and the younger guy seemed like he knew his stuff. We had to bring our cat in recently and the older guy is an idiot. Beside the fact that we could barely understand him, all he did was give our cat who hadn't eaten in over a week some fluids, a shot of Zantac and an antibiotic and sent us on our way. Thay was $100. We had to bring him back in because that stuff didn't work and although I SPECIFICALLY asked NOT to see that same Dr (on the phone and again when I was put into the room), who comes in?? That same guy. I should have walked but was extremely worried about m cat. He says he should do an xray. I agree only to find that after spending $155, he tells me that he needs to send my xray to a specialist as HE can't read it!! That was going to be another $90ish! Hell no. We left with him telling us he "thinks" the cat is full of poo and to give him a laxative we had to purchase there. Thay wasn't the problem either. After that, I refused to go back back and ended up going to the vet I should have in the first place. Money wasted and more money spent having to go to another, better vet. I wholeheartedly wish I read reviews before bringing my cat here. I needed him treated for a foul smell coming out of his ear which after some extensive research thought it would be from ear mites. We brought him in and I swear we waited almost an hour and a half to be seen. After we were finally brought into the examination room the receptionist would not stop making comments about "how fat" he is. She was using a lot of unprofessional language like "holy shit" and my boyfriend and I aren't offended by things like that but it definitely showed a lot about her professionalism and it wasn't helping the situation already at hand. We waited to see the vet and he didn't use gloves or anything the entire time he was treating him. Unfortunately he was very hard to understand but we understood that he was going to test my cat for ear mites. He came back with a cotton swab and pushed so far into my cats ear he flinched. Then after waiting for those results he said it came back negative for mites and explained that it was either an allergy or a fungal infection. No further examination or anything. He cleaned his ears and explained to me that he was going to give him a vaccination of some sort. I was not told what it was or how much it would cost just that he was getting one. And again he came into the room and with no warning or anything plunged a needle into my cat causing him to latch himself onto the counter. The vet was very nice but didn't seem to have any idea what was going on. I was given some ear drops when we went a few weeks ago and he still seems to have the infection. To top off the experience the receptionist proceeded to make jokes about my legal last name. Which again, doesn't offend me but at least try and act professional. I would not recommend this clinic to anyone. Yes, the prices are fair but you get what you pay for. The clinic is dirty and run down and they don't seem to have properly trained staff. If I had know what kind of clinic it was I would have never paid to get false information. I suggest you go to this clinic at your own risk. It is unprofessional, dirty, and not well managed. Don't put your pet at risk for what seems like great pricing. Pay a little extra to go somewhere that actually knows what they're doing.Read Less

I have been taking my own animals and also my family's animals (10 animals total) to this vet for around 7 years now and they used to be really great and helpful, but lately it seems everything has gone down hill. Every time I go in now it seems like I get the run around for what ever I need for mine and my family's animals. Whenever I confront them with what seems nonsense to me they tend to get short with me. I've provided this vet with lots of business with the 10 animals that I bring in for which ever treatment they need and yet it just seems like I'm not getting the proper help, information or advice that I used to get from them. I'm seriously considering changing vets because of this. I've become extremely disappointed with this vet. When I ask to look up one of our animals files half the time which ever vet handles the file they don't record the visit or the name of which vet I dealt with. I used to recommend this vet to everyone I knew because it's decent prices and used to be decent service. I will no longer be recommending this vet anymore and will most likely be switching vets because of this.Read Less

Please do not take your pets to this clinic. It is very dirty and although the staff may be nice, that doesn't mean your getting ethical care. Our American Eskimo went in for a broken nail. Dr. Sandhu said he would have to give her a local anaesthetic to look to see if the nail would have to be removed. Without our knowledge, he amputated the end of her toe. Not only weren't we told, but we weren't given any after care instructions and he made no comments about a follow up appointment. He only gave us two days of pain killers, to which we were under the assumption the nail was still there. We had to take her to the emergency vet hospital in the NW over the weekend and after an X-ray, that is when when we were told the last joint of her toe had been amputated. We've gone in and spoken to him today and he claims he told us everything. But he didn't! As well, our payment bills are completely blank. Just has an owing amount. This is completely unacceptable. Preceding this, a few years ago our elderly cocker spaniel wasn't doing to well. He had bladder problems and had gone blind. After consulting with Dr. Sandhu, our only option was to put him down. After he had passed, Dr. Sandhu asked us why we put him down. I was so distraught I couldn't even speak. When we took in our American Eskimo last week, they kept calling her a Cocker Spaniel. There records had our two dogs mixed up and had no record of our Cocker being deceased. Unreal! My feet will never enter this premises again. This place is HORRIBLE! I took my pup here to get spayed, she came home with an eye infection and chronic diarrhea that lasted two weeks. I called the vet and they told me it was allergies... Now almost 4 weeks later her stitches haven't dissolved and she has an infection where they cut her open. Read Less

I shopped around for a vet for my newest kitten addition to my family, and stumbled upon the North East Animal Clinic. It was just down the road from where I worked, so it seemed to be the best fit, and the prices were great. The receptionist was cheerful and knowledgeable, so I went ahead and booked Harley's initial shot appointment, figuring if everything seemed okay, I would stay with this vet for the bigger things, such as her spay. When I first walked in to the office, I must say, my in ital impression, wasn't the best; the receptionist looked as though she was 17, a vet tech was in the back with a large dog collar around her neck and enough eyeliner to make Tommy Lee jealous. I then met the Vet himself, Dr. Sandhu. He quite frankly, is a very large and gruff looking man. I took Harley out of her carrier and he automatically scooped her up and played with her. After asking me the standard questions, he gave Harley her shots and dewormer, reminding me that I had to come in for the boosters. I was impressed enough after my first reaction that I booked Harley's spay surgery. Even though Dr. Sandhu cannot boast the state of the art and newest technological advances in veterinary medicine, he took great care of my Harley. After explaining the aftercare, off I went with my recovering bundle of fur. Dr. Sandhu may not be exactly what you expect to see when you think of a vet, but he loves the animals he cares for and has a genuine compassion for them.
