I would leave a zero for vet Colleen Chan and the current staff. Both my cats have seen Shane Blythe the past. All good He’s great. My cat appeared to have a mouth problem. I took her in immediately, Vet Chan was on duty. She not only mis diagnosed, I dont believe she ran the tests I paid for. Said antibiotics for a tooth infection. LIAR. My cat is dead 4days later. I not only want my money back, I want this Vet to apologize. I have lost my baby.

I have taken my 2 dogs to 17th Ave clinic for many years. Each visit, I was provided with different doctor, I don't know if it is because of staff turn over or they rotate their staffs within the organization. I was fortunate to meet Dr. Blighe during my dogs annual checkup last November, then I realized not all doctors are the same. Dr. Blighe has shown to me he does his job with passion, and he really care about his patients. Two weeks ago, one of my dogs, Missy, had some blood coming out from her mouth, I called 17th Ave clinic and tried to make an appointment for Missy with Dr. Blighe, realized he only happened to work at 17th Ave clinic temporary. He stations at Shawnessy clinic full time and permanently. From my home to 17th Ave clinic only take me 5 minutes, to drive to Shawnessy clinic will take me half an hour at least. But to me, to be able to have the best doctor for my dogs, even an hour drive is worth it. I wasn't disappointed, Dr. Blighe treated Missy according to the best for her and also he explained every detail to me, this is so rare of the experience I had with all the doctors I met with during the years. Although Missy is almost 14 years old, I am sure with the good care provider by Dr. Blighe, she will be comfortable and happy for the remaining of her life.

Great clinic, clean facilities and friendly staff. The only issue I have is that their staff rotates quite frequently, so you are not seeing the same vet each time you visit. If they could improve this, I think they could have a solid business model for customers who value having a lasting relationship with their vet.

Dr Shane Blighe and Dr Colleen Chan have exceeded our expectations in treating our two French Bulldogs. The level of care and compassion in how they practice veterinarian medicine is to be commended. Shawnessy Pet Hospital has been my dog's vet since she was a puppy. (2.5 years old now) They provide excellent care and information for me to keep my Yorkie healthy and happy. They looked after my previous dog too. She lived to the great old age of 18. That is due in large part to the terrific care and attention she got at every vet visit or grooming. These guys genuinely care about my pets. I feel my loved little dog is safe here. I highly recommend this clinic.

Having read most of the reviews, I am assuming the positive ones have come from people who have been lucky enough to have seen a vet at this clinic on the weekday when the more senior, experienced vets work. I had the mis-fortune of seeing a inexperienced vet, with very little practical experience. This unfortunately happened to my kitty this weekend. Without going into great detail, a mis-diagnosis, a cat that went home with pain meds that were dosed so low that my cat suffered in pain until the next day where I could take her to my regular amazing vet Dr Ruelle at Wildrose Clinic, and a $350 vet bill. So so very disappointed. I will add that I have requested that I receive a refund for the un-necessary lab tests on the mis diagnosis the vet thought I should get. The Manager did take my card to refund, but I have not checked my card yet to see if it was processed. Take your cat to Dr. Ruelle

We have been taking our big yellow lab - Butters - to Shawnessy South his whole life - he will be 10 in August. We also take his younger brother Peanut. All of the staff here are terrific: friendly, kind and professional They always do their very best to schedule to fit our timetables! We take the boys here for all of their medical and care needs as well as their nail trims. We also purchase vitamins and other supplements from this clinic. I would highly recommend this team and facility to any pet owner.

My dog isn't a regular patient at this clinic and I was given time and advice with a phone call of how to proceed with my dogs condition. Time out of their own busy schedule to help me... that speaks ...
My dog isn't a regular patient at this clinic and I was given time and advice with a phone call of how to proceed with my dogs condition. Time out of their own busy schedule to help me... that speaks volumes to me about the character of this clinic. Thank you for pointing me in the right direction. Dont even bother...go to Fish Creek Hospital - more competent staff and better pricing. Our pet was sedated, x-rayed and examined for a leg injury and "they could NOT diagnose". Happy to give Metacam for everything. Took my pet to the CARE Hospital and with just feeling her leg and reviewing the x-ray they knew she had a torn ligament. This clinic is mediocre for basic care and that's it. If I could rate them zero I would.

Friendly and great staff, but WAY TOO EXPENSIVE. Had my cat taken for its kitty shots, each time she went, its $42 for the shots and $98 for a check up, weight, heart beat, a once over that takes less than 10 minutes. The 3rd round was less than month a part between visits but they said its required by law to give the $98 check up everytime. First Ive ever heard of this. My quote for the spay was between $500-$900 which is RIDICULOUS. Just because your owned by an american company and in the city does not mean you should be taking unsuspecting pet owners to the cleaners every time they go. I found a good vet in Cochrane that would do the spay for $275 all in, with a tattoo.

The staff were very caring and helpful. While other pet hospitals couldnt give me a ball park price on the minor surgery needed, Shawnessy South did. The final bill was right in the middle of the over the phone quote. Our dog Parker had a deep puncture wound that wouldnt stop bleeding from being at the river which we have done many, many times before. So after several hours of bleeding we decided to bite the bullet and take him. Everything was explained perfectly well to us. Parker was comfortable since we walked in the door. The day after the surgery we received a call from the clinic following up on his minor surgery. I will always recommend this hospital for any well loved four legged friend! Great work ladies! Parker sure appreciated the love and knowledge received!

Very happy with my experience here -- from our dog's annual check-ups to his passing. The staff here are very caring, treating their patients as if they are their own pets. They provide estimates of expenses prior to accepting any treatment and ensure that there are "no surprises". Would not hesitate to recommend them to friends or family.

Last weekend we had to bring our 18 year old cat in to be put down, she had given up and if anything we held out too long before doing this. I forget the name of the woman working at the front desk but she was excellent as well as Dr. Blighe. The whole process though incredibly tough, was made much easier by the professionalism and understanding we got here. I've run into Dr. Blighe up at the 24hr McKnight clinic but it didn't click at the time, he was excellent dealing with the various sh*t my dogs get into as well. Shawnessy South staff certainly made a very bad situation go as well as it possibly could.

Shawnessy South Pet Hospital is an awesome place with a number of kind, friendly, incredibly competent vets. I have a dog who is just over two years old now, but back when she was a pup, she got into things. A lot of things. Shawnessy South Pet Hospital is open many many hours, and in snap, take a pup right away. They answer my questions on the phone and always reassure us that we are doing the right thing by asking or bringing our gal in. They are incredibly good with our dog, and they always explain things to us and reassure us when needed. Also, the vet at Shawnessy was the one that originally encouraged me to invest in pet insurance, which has ended up being a good idea. We also get our dog groomed at Shawnessy South Pet Hospital. The groomer is great, and despite it being located at the vet, our dog is always happy to see the groomer.

I have been going to this Veterinarian Hospital for a little over a year now for my cat (4yrs) & dog (8yrs). I have found that the employees are always friendly, and will giggle and joke around with you. The main Dr. that I have delt with has always been honest and has never made an attempt to cash grab. Even when I was in a panicked state and insisted on him giving my cat an x-ray, he advised after giving my cat a physical, that he was confident my cat didn't need an x-ray. I told him that because of past experience, I wanted to see for myself and so he did, and he was right. He also wrote down a few natural solutions to a few problems I was having with my cat, so that I could try them at home before having to come in and spend any extra money. I took my dog to the same Dr. because he was limping about after every major walk & play date with other dogs. He advised us that he thought it was minor artheritis in his one knee, and to try this certain vitamin in his food rather than medication to help his pain! We haven't noticed the limping since! The at home tips they've given me have been so helpful & unnecessary, yet they still give them. I have the genuine feeling that they care more about my pets well being than the extra buck they'll make on an unnecessary x-ray.

I was fortunate to meet Dr. Blighe during my dogs annual checkup last November, then I realized not all doctors are the same. Great clinic, clean facilities and friendly staff. The only issue I have is that their staff rotates quite frequently, so you are not seeing the same vet each time you visit. If they could improve this, I think they could have a solid business model for customers who value having a lasting relationship with their vet.

Shawnessy Pet Hospital has been my dog's vet since she was a puppy. (2.5 years old now) They provide excellent care and information for me to keep my Yorkie healthy and happy. They looked after my previous dog too. She lived to the great old age of 18. That is due in large part to the terrific care and attention she got at every vet visit or grooming. These guys genuinely care about my pets. I feel my loved little dog is safe here. I highly recommend this clinic.

We have been taking our big yellow lab - Butters - to Shawnessy South his whole life - he will be 10 in August. We also take his younger brother Peanut. Dont even bother...go to Fish Creek Hospital - more competent staff and better pricing. Our pet was sedated, x-rayed and examined for a leg injury and "they could NOT diagnose". Last weekend we had to bring our 18 year old cat in to be put down, she had given up and if anything we held out too long before doing this. I forget the name of the woman working at the front desk but she was excellent as well as Dr. Blighe. The whole process though incredibly tough, was made much easier by the professionalism and understanding we got here. I've run into Dr. Blighe up at the 24hr McKnight clinic but it didn't click at the time, he was excellent dealing with the various sh*t my dogs get into as well. Shawnessy South staff certainly made a very bad situation go as well as it possibly could.

Best vet ever. It has saved my ass on numerous occasions due to it being open on Sunday's. Vets are great, and staff is nice! Got to keep the dogs happy, and fed.

Shawnessy South Pet Hospital is an awesome place with a number of kind, friendly, incredibly competent vets. I have a dog who is just over two years old now, but back when she was a pup, she got into things. A lot of things. Shawnessy South Pet Hospital is open many many hours, and in snap, take a pup right away. They answer my questions on the phone and always reassure us that we are doing the right thing by asking or bringing our gal in. They are incredibly good with our dog, and they always explain things to us and reassure us when needed. Also, the vet at Shawnessy was the one that originally encouraged me to invest in pet insurance, which has ended up being a good idea. We also get our dog groomed at Shawnessy South Pet Hospital. The groomer is great, and despite it being located at the vet, our dog is always happy to see the groomer.

I have been going to this Veterinarian Hospital for a little over a year now for my cat (4yrs) & dog (8yrs). I have found that the employees are always friendly, and will giggle and joke around with you. The main Dr. that I have delt with has always been honest and has never made an attempt to cash grab. Even when I was in a panicked state and insisted on him giving my cat an x-ray, he advised after giving my cat a physical, that he was confident my cat didn't need an x-ray. I told him that because of past experience, I wanted to see for myself and so he did, and he was right. He also wrote down a few natural solutions to a few problems I was having with my cat, so that I could try them at home before having to come in and spend any extra money. I took my dog to the same Dr. because he was limping about after every major walk & play date with other dogs. He advised us that he thought it was minor artheritis in his one knee, and to try this certain vitamin in his food rather than medication to help his pain! We haven't noticed the limping since! The at home tips they've given me have been so helpful & unnecessary, yet they still give them. I have the genuine feeling that they care more about my pets well being than the extra buck they'll make on an unnecessary x-ray.
