We adopted a rescue dog at 3 months old, we had fostered for several years before that so we had a decent knowledge of the common things that come up with dogs, but our little guy was a different story. He was having diarrhea - straight liquid - we tried to change foods a few times and when it wasn't getting better, we decided to go to the vet. We had done a LOT of research as to which vet we wanted to go to, but oddly enough Harvest Hills hadn't really come up in any of our searches. We went to two different vets, first one told us just to wait it out. I wasn't happy with that answer because there was no information backing it, so we went to a second one and did not get great service. A friend recommended Harvest Hills to me, so we went and I could not believe that a vet office like that actually existed. It is clean, the girls at the desk and the Tech's are SO friendly and extremely helpful, and Dr. Jess Oullett has been the most incredible doctor. We went through an extremely rough few months trying to find out what was wrong with our boy and it was expensive and emotional (side note - get pet insurance! We didn't at first and regretted it big time). Through the entire thing, Dr. Jess and literally every other staff there were so supportive and did everything they could to help us. Dr. Jess always helped us figure out ways to do things that would be cost effective and always gave us ALL of the information so that we could make an informed decision. I am one of those people who, when asked what the issue is or what symptoms we have noticed, can go on forever explaining every detail in case it is relevant and Dr. Jess always takes the time to listen, she asks us thorough questions, lets us know what to look out for and what certain things can mean, and is just a genuinely honest and caring person. I feel like the staff there truly love my dog and I can not tell you enough how great this place has been for us. Before writing this, I read some of the other reviews. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and I can agree that some situations would be extremely frustrating and that likely not every person has had the amazing experience that we have, but it is important to remember that these people are human as well. They have days they aren't feeling 100% - so do we. Sometimes they will be busy, and sometimes they will be fully booked and can't accommodate your appointment, you have to expect that anywhere you go, especially the good places because of course they will book up fast. They aren't an emergency hospital, they aren't the place where your pet can go to have a major surgery, and really, they probably aren't the best place to go if your pet is in critical condition and needs medical attention - not because they don't care, or wouldn't try to help- but that isn't what their clinic is for, and they wouldn't have all of the tools and resources available to do what may be needed. We have had a few emergency scares, and even though they couldn't fit us in or weren't the right place to go for that particular situation, they have always recommended to us what we should do, in most cases it has been to go to the CARE center, because that is the purpose of the CARE center. It's great to look at reviews before you go somewhere and try and benefit from the experiences of others, however this is only beneficial to a certain extent, you have to be willing to try and sometimes you have to be willing to give second chances. I have nothing but amazing things to say about Harvest hills and have had great experiences even in difficult and emotional situations, I hope you do too, but really you will never know unless you give them a chance. Treat them like people, be understanding of their side of things and I have no doubt you will be treated just as we have. Oh and also, our dog is doing great, he is now a year and a half and though we still have certain things that we are working through, he is living a happy and healthy life and I honestly don't think we could have done it without the Dr. Jess and the staff at Harvest Hills.
