I have had a very negative experience with the clinic. First of all I inquired specifically about laser surgery for the removal of a sebaceous cyst, as that what I was interested in and booked a consultation. When I came in for consultation, after the checkup I was quoted a regular scalpel surgery. I was booked to a wrong doctor, who doesn’t even operate with laser. But assured me the file can get transferred to the right doctor and we booked a day for the surgery. On the day of the surgery the quote has increased by another $100, as they apparently forgot to add some hospitalization charges on the initial one. I was not happy about that, especially when it’s done last minute, backdated and you are already there with your pet. Nurse called in a doctor to clarify the situation for us. Dr. Golbeck came out quite angry and basically told us to pack and leave if we don’t like something… He was rude and didn’t have his emotions under control. Just looking at the guy, I figured I don’t want someone with this attitude touch my cat at all… If you have personal issues – keep it at home or deal with it somehow before spilling it on other people… Zero customer service and professionalism. I have wasted money on the initial consultation and wasted time waiting for this surgery and driving back and forth, taking time off work to do that… I have nasty aftertaste after meeting with doctor, but glad it came out like that he is really should be operating living beings with such attitude… Read Less

BEST CLINIC EVER We just moved here from Vancouver and had yet to find a vet that we were comfortable going to over the past 3 years with our Jack Russell, this place was THE BOMB all the staff were extremely friendly and helpful and made both Poncho and I feel welcome our entire visit, they gave us great advice, didn't push unnecessary products or services and were BY FAR the most affordable clinic we've ever visited. We only needed an oral exam to determine what our options were for ponchos horrible breath (bless his heart) and instead of charging us 100+ (for a full examination, which is what the other 5 places quoted us) they only charged a mere 15 dollars! The price did not match the service however because the doctor was the most friendly and thorough vet we've ever had the pleasure of meeting. THESE ARE THE WORST VETERINARIANS I have ever met. THEY DO NOT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT ANIMALS. I took my kitten in two times at 3 months and at 4 months for her shots. I met two different "doctors" and asked about spaying my kitten and both times they said no not until she is atleast 5 months old. Now on the day she turned exactly 5 months old she has gone into heat. A simple google search says that cats that are spayed after their first heat are MORE PRONE TO CANCER. Spaying cats can be done as young as two months and atleast 2.5 lbs On top of GREATLY INCREASING MY CATS CHANCES OF GETTING CANCER, the obese "male" vet almost gave my kitten the wrong shots, he had her file in his hand and could not be bothered to read it and find out that she was in for her third set of shots not her first. I had taken my dog in for a yearly check up and to have his ear's looked at as they have been irritated the past little while. This is a new vet to me as I did need to find a new one because our original one did retire. The vet tech's came and did his weight and said the vet would be in shortly. He did the exam and looked over the dog (with out taking off his sweater) said he looked to be in pretty good health. He did notice some puss near the molars of the dog and said we should remove them so nothing else would happen in the future. We were not given any other options and no medication to help treat his ears. When clearing up the cost for the exam and the shots, we were given a quote of how much it would be to have the dental work done and the swab in his ears while he was sedated..... it would be anywhere from $1300 to $1600. just for the dental work and nothing else.Im pretty upset that we were told that this was the only option and were not given any alternatives. or suggestions. I am now going to be trying to find another vet that will hopefully be able to give me the suggestions and treat the dog.I am very upset with this vet and will not make the recommendations for them at all. Shortly after I moved to Calgary, I inherited a small feline companion for a short-term stay that lasted a bit longer.  Westmount Animal Clinic was the closest veterinarian to my apartment, which summarizes my only reason for going there. My first few visits to the clinic were to purchase food.  My mom has been feeding her cats Medi-Cal food since they were kittens.  15 years later and those cats are still healthy as ever.Medi-Cal food is expensive when compared to the food you'll find at a local grocery store.  It's also only available at veterinarians.  And between different veterinarians, you will find significant price differences.  I have found places selling a medium sized bag for $30, others selling it for $25, and some selling it for as high as $40.  Westmount is usually somewhere in the middle.  Not the cheapest, but definitely not the most expensive.Thankfully, I only had to bring along my companion for a visit once.  She had developed some issues with her stomach.  I'll never understand how, but it seems veterinarians have a magical effect on animals (or they are just so terrified they will do anything).  Westmount is no exception, and my usually sketchy cat was like a kitten in their hands.  It was a quick procedure, but a great experience for both of us. Absolutely terrible! I took my 3 month old cat who was nearly 3 pounds to be spayed, but they told me that cats shouldn't be spayed until 6 months. My cat went into heat at 5 months and when talking to all other vets and researching, it seems that its best to get them spayed before they go into heat, to reduce chances of disease later in life. When I tried to ask why they wouldn't spay them they treated me like some kind of idiot. This is the worst vetin town and should be shut down immediately Read Less

I take my girl Frankie here and I only trust these vets with her car since they took her very quickly when she was going downhill fast a few years back and I have been coming ever since! They treat her and I very kindly and are very gentle with Frank which is great cause she has a very protective papa who overreacts more with her shots then she does :,) I would recommend (and do) this vet for anyone. Very easy to find and get to as well! The bus stops right across the street and the building is very easy to spot! All of my future animals will be coming here to this vet!! Thanks westmount animal clinic for taking amazing care of fur babies! Read Less
