We were referred to this clinic by our regular veterinary as they could not perform what was needed for our dog which was related to her teeth and mouth. After my daughter brought our dog to that clinic she was giving an estimate that came out to $2700 as well she had to pay to consult visit of $162 . I decided to shop around and talk to my friends I was referred to a veterinary clinic in Airdrie the consult was $50 and the fees to perform the same kind of work came up to less than $1000 so my advice to you shop around as they are obviously overcharging from the clients it’s unfortunate . If it was possible to give them 6/5 stars I would. These guys remember me and my cat Benedict and get excited every time they see us making us feel really welcome and comfortable. Benedict loves it here (weird for a pet to love the vet) but they always pass him around for cuddle time and give exceptional care. He's had a minor surgery done here and they were great with updating me and helping me through the whole process. Everyone here seems to genuinely care about me and Benedict, we usually see Dr.LeBoldus who is amazing, but all the other vets seem to be pretty great too. I am yet to have a bad experience, would highly recommend!! Read Less

I came across my pet's Vet on here and saw the negative reviews that I would not agree with  and I would like to share my past experiences with you. I have been bringing my pets to Woodlands Vet for the past 5 years and not once have I had a negative visit there with anyone. I have seen all the doctors there and all the staff have shown care and compassion when it comes to my animals; you do get what you pay for and I believe they have my animals health in their best interests. They are helpful, informative and make sure I understand everything before leaving my appointments. The staff also put bandanas on my babies when they stay there which I love! I have also taken my dogs to the groomers next door and they do a fantastic job and my dogs come out looking great! I love my pet's and they deserve the best, after all they are my fur babies!!! I was referred to Dr. Stewart MacKenzie by my regular Veterinarian, after my little 10 lb. Bichon/Shih Tzu had her jaw & 2 teeth broken while at a Dog Grooming appointment.  I was told that Dr. MacKenzie was the only oral surgeon qualified to repair my precious little dog's jaw in the city of Calgary.  The fact that a groomer could injure my little dog to this extent totally traumatized me & my little dog was in so much pain.  Everything started off fine, I was so grateful to Dr. MacKenzie for saving my dog's life & performing the surgery.  The 1st procedure did not work & my dog had to have another surgery.  Her treatment/surgeries spanned over just about 3 months.  Midway through the treatment, I began to distrust Dr. MacKenzie, as I repeatedly requested my dog's medical reports & x-rays & they never surfaced.  I had experience with the Western Veterinary Hospital with Lexi & her medical/surgery reports were always ready for me when I took her home.  The cost quote for Lexi's treatment did go up substantially from when I dropped her off for her initial surgery, Dr. MacKenzie did call me from the Operating Room to tell me it would be more money because she needed more dental work.....I was crying my eyes out, I wanted to save my little dog, so I agreed to the increased cost......I just wanted my dog saved.  On the day of my dog's last surgery, I supplied them with a flash drive to copy my dog's files & they gave me an excuse that they had to format the x-rays to copy & that would take a while & would pop it in the mail.  I asked my regular Vet to send me the original x-rays from his office & I received them within 15 minutes of my request via email.  One week after the last surgery, I still had not received the medical files/x-rays by mail & called Dr. MacKenzie & said I would come pickup the flash drive myself.   He told me to come the following Friday at 4 p.m.  I am skeptical about the extra dental work my little dog required, if it was necessary, I don't know?  Dr. MacKenzie definitely was not as transparent as Western Animal Hospital or my regular Vet or actually any other Veterinarian that my dogs have seen.  I do have concerns about the validity of the x-rays that I was given.  I would not recommend Dr. MacKenzie, he has the credentials but he lost my trust!  It was such a traumatic time for me & my little dog & I feel taken advantage of. We have been with Woodlands clinic for 30 years for a reason, simply because they are the best. Our animals have received excellent care EVERY time. Dr. Tom LeBoldus is the most caring and compassionate vet we have ever had the pleasure of dealing with. He has seen our various pets through almost every calamity you could imagine, while providing us the knowledge we needed to give the best care we could on our end. All the care was tempered with a common sense approach, never was anything suggested that wasn't reasonable for the age or condition of our pets. Their well being was ALWAYS the first concern. We have recommended this clinic to everyone, even people who may not have obtained animals in a fashion we would support. We knew they would not be judged, the focus would be on education and therefore the best outcome for the animal. We need more clinics like this one with people who are dedicated to the protection and care of our best friends. Read Less

If i could give zero stars i would. We went to this clinic for over 10 years with our two cats and our dog. I never knew you could write a review so i am doing so now, i truly believe this vet clinic is all about the money and couldn't care less about the animals. I went in with my golden retriever after he had gotten a needle of some sort of plant from Fish creek in his back leg. I went in to Dr. Mackenzie and he cut the little pimple out, gave him stitches, brought Striker out and away i went. ( i was 16 at the time). the next morning my dogs leg was swollen twice its size and puss was dripping out of his leg, he was lethargic, so i brought him in first thing in the morning. Dr. Mackenzie told me he would take a look, it looked infected and he would call me at noon that day to tell me the updates after an examination and tests. I CALLED the vet at 12:15 as our whole family was worried sick and we hadn't heard a call back. When i called he said looks like it might be flesh eating disease but we need to take more tests. After all day they told us it was an infection , many tests, x-rays and different exams, they had to drill three holes in his leg to let the puss drip out and finally gave us some antibiotics. My mom called to ask why there was no antibiotics given the first time i went in when there was the pimple removed and stitches were put in. The vet and head vet (i believe) refused to answer any questions. My mom said we will not be paying this $3000 bill until we have an explanation. They sent us straight to collections. After the years of service, years of loyalty and this is what we got in return. I will/ have told everyone i know how terrible this clinic is and will never stop. Read Less

I took my lab/pitbull cross to this clinic after she got into some garbage and started vomiting and diarrea.  They prescribed 28 Metronidazole 250 mg. ($19.10) and 10 Fortiflora Supplement Canine ($14.30).  The vet then up sold me 4 Heartgard Brown 272 mg for $58.60. The examination was $85.00. Total:  $185.00The same thing had happened in a different city and I had to take her to a different vet.  They prescribed 5 Canine PVD Fortiflora for $5.75 and 10 Sucralate 1 g for $17.40.  The exam etc was $84.00. Total $112.51.The treatment advice was to give her chicken and rice for a day and then a combination of chicken and rice with her regular kibble in both cases.  Dog recovered on these treatments.  Then at this location, I wanted to get the groomer to clip my dogs nails which usually costs between 10-15 dollars.  She said that this vet has required her to charge $35 because that is what the vet charges.  It just made me mad combined with the up selling.  I am looking for a different vet service.
